Paul Ryan threatens to arrest democratic House members on the floor

Come on Hawkeye. Release your taxes! :lamo

I'll tell you what, I think it would be a good idea for more of us to stand up to these one note assholes who keep trying to derail threads while acting uncivil. I can barroom fight better than almost anyone else, but that IS NOT what I want to do with the time I have left. I got old. I discovered new things. But my new found tolerance for jerks and assholes has limits.

Hey! I can tolerate a good jerk but my asshole is OFF LIMITS!

Okay, then I guess they didn't. Thanks for the answer.

Who's the gavon trying to analogize shutdowns from budget fights with breaking House rules including ethics rules?

Did you take this sort of pro law enforcement position on the Bundy Ranch occupation in 2014 and resistance to law?

What about your position on the Oregon park occupation in February ? Were so gung ho about arresting those people at that time?

Yes, most rational people were always this pro law enforcement. Suddenly you're not?

Depends. And that reminds me to remind you to remind him that they're full. There's an odor.

That was really confusing.

Sorry. The essential point is that the poster you're responding to adjusts his stance on principle when the politics suits him. Nailing down jello is more productive.

Lol yes I very much agree

Just as I predicted. But would anyone listen? Noooooooooooo.

I was just confounded by this. What the **** is happening? Arresting members of the legislature on the House floor would be some serious nazi ****. I hope it doesn't come to that.

House Floor Erupts in Total Chaos as Paul Ryan Threatens Protesting Democrats with Arrest

These House members are disrupting House business. Ryan has every right to come down on them like a ton of bricks. He should have had the Sergeant-at-Arms escort them out. They could be censured for what they are doing. Don't kid yourself. I doubt he would do it for political reasons, but they are being disruptive.

You mean a respite from what they (the House) normally does TO us?

This might be a good thing. Maybe they should have disruptions like this more often. One a week, each lasting 7 days.

And set a wicked precedence for breaking house rules. And then promised more of the same.

Fits the "gridlock is good" premise.

I was being semi-facetious, but yeah, to a point.

I wonder how many are :2mad: over this, but were ok when the Reps were disrupting work over some issue near to their hearts?

Did they do a sit-in, and stop all business?

Are you really suggesting that there is only one way to stop/disrupt business? Seriously?

What they did was blatant, and disregarding the Speaker himself. I've never seen that happen. Did you know that the Congress can kick members out? Not suggesting it will happen or should, but they have the right to send them home permanently.

The Speaker has a lot of power. Even things most people have heard of like censure are rarely used.

Haha. Of course. Because you wanted Bundy arrested but not those violating the law in this thread.

What laws of the land did the Democrats in Congress violate?

In response to the OP's commentary, no this wouldn't be some serious Nazi ****.

This sit in (and protests over the unwillingness of the Senate to confirm Merrick Garland) are ploys to get out the vote by dems. Right. The GOPs have their ploys, too.

No, no, please! Don't throw them in the briar patch!
