So what are we to make of it?

After party chairman Reince Priebus declared Mr. Trump "the presumptive nominee" immediately after Sen Cruz' concession speech, I thought the floodgates of support would open to Mr. Trump. Apparently not.

I do find it interesting that this comes the day after Mr. Trump announces he will not self-fund his campaign. Could this be related? Is the GOP establishment attempting to limit or bargain with Trump, before allowing access to their donor base?

Or could they be considering throwing-in-the-towel on Trump & the 2016 Presidency, and isolating their down-ticket races by running against Trump? Could Ryan subsequently be looking to running (and saving the party for the establishment) in 2020?

Crazy ideas above, but it's a crazy cycle!

Actually, I'm thinking this is a little less hyperbolic than the above, and believe the nomination and subsequent GOP capitulation all went down too fast for the establishment; so Spkr Ryan decided to freeze the action. His actions could serve the tri-fold purpose of: 1] freezing Trump from further access to party resources. 2] giving establishment members a bit more time to remain uncommitted while they check their pulses and strategize. 3] while also putting Trump on notice that the party is still in control of the show.

What says you?

That's right, if elected Trump can govern by decree. Who needs Congress? Another option would be for Trump to ally with Nancy Pelosi, scrape up a few pro-Trump Republicans in the house, agreeing to advance the House Democrat's agenda.

Just because some one supports a candidate does not mean some one else has to. Ryan, for all his problems(and they are legion), is at least standing up for his beliefs. I can respect that. He owes Trump not one thing. The republican party owes Trump not one thing. In fact, as Trump has been and will be making extensive use of republican party resources, it is the other way around.

It's a nothingburger for Ryan. Since he's been Speaker, he has done nothing. Why would we expect Ryan as the highest ranking member of the house to notice that the electorate has changed? The House, after all is the voice of the people, and Ryan is deaf. Ryan is the personification of The Establishment, and like the rest of them he is in denial that Trump's supporters are wise to people like him. Trump has not pierced his bubble. Yet.

So let Ryan, Bush, and the others sit it out. They will endorse after the convention because they have no choice if they plan to stay in the party.

1. Unlike Obama... Trump has worked in the real world... He knows how it works, and how corrupt and bureaucratic it is... And Obama and his ilk have made this crony capitalism... Worse.

As far as resources... He could have squandered them, or built from the small stash he was given. He did the latter. What exactly has Obama or Clinton built or managed? Nada. The laughable bit is Obama was so thin in accomplishments, he claimed his experience managing something was his 2008 campaign... ROTFLOL. Quite the executive resume that Obama has. 7-years on... We see how dangerously incompetent he is.

2. Unlike Obama... Trump has spent his life actually dealing around the world with bureaucrats. Obama has done nothing of the sort. With trillion dollar budgets, he's been a failure at reigniting the economy. Cash for clunkers, shovel ready jobs, ObamaKare, race relations, foreign policy... You look at anything he's done and it's resulted in failure and misery. That's quite the record... One which places him below Carter... And that takes some doing.

Republicans have done little to stop his lunacy... Enter Trump.

3. We have thrown out millions of illegals, Ike did it... and in 66 and 85 we were supposed to close the borders after amnesty was passed.

Peggy Noonan thinks it is more extreme than that:
