Obamas statement on Egypt

I just listened to Obama talk about events in Egypt and it seemed to me he took the Muslim Brotherhoods side on this. He said they were put in power by a democratic election and never mentioned the abuses they were guilty of post election. It's almost like he has a kinship with Morsi and is upset because he was removed from power after trashing the countries constitution. Birds of a feather maybe?

Whether we like it or not, Morsi was elected in a free and fair election and should have been allowed to complete his term...

This isn't about taking sides, this is about what's right.

And slaughtering 1000's of innocents for protesting against the wrongful deposing of a democratically elected leader is one of them.

It is what Obama refuses to say that is most troubling. A military coup has occured in Egypt which prevents the legal continuation of US aid to the Egyptian military, thus Obama simply says that did not occur. King Barack has spoken and settled the matter for us.

Whether you like it or not, the MB came into power under Democratic elections. What conspired after that is an extreme tragedy by the MB to put in a un-democratic constitution in play I agree.

So now we have the military slaughtering 100s (probably thousands before this is through) because they protested the military takeover and basic revenge tactic against those they don't like.

The only position Obama can take IMO, is to back the hell off and let them be to their own slaughtering. The government before the MB was corrupt, the government of the MB was corrupt, and the government now is corrupt. Seems the best choice is to let them be and have no part in it one way or another.

The Muslim Brotherhood was riding rough shod over the Egyptian people and doing everything they promised they wouldn't do when running for office, once again kind of like Obama. Don't you find it interesting that Obama never mentioned their abuse of power? If you are elected in a fair election and then rip up the constitution and act like a dictator instead of a president you can't hide behind the fact that you were elected. This may scare Obama a bit.

Heya Jet. :2wave: Do you find it remotely disturbing that the MB in taking out their frustrations would go and kill Christians and burn their homes and trash out their communities. All to get back at the Egyptian Military.

You actually think that election was fair? With the MB telling their supporters who they will vote for?

Any reason those facts aren't mentioned? What about the fact that while the MB had peaceful demonstrations going on in Cairo. That others in their groups were inciting riots and going after Egyptian Military. They do have a U tube Video up of them pushing an Egyptian Humvee off a bridge.

fact is he isn't a King, he can't just do as he pleases and with Egypt there is a strong damned either way dynamic. Most Cons hated the MB gaining power, swore mightily that the Egyptian people can't govern themselves if they pick the MB. Quite a few were in favor of keeping a tyrant in place rather than a messy vote of the people. The Egyptian President started down a bad path and while the technique isn't sweetness and light the military has stepped in. Until some General/Colonel dissolves all civilian government and declares himself Grand Poo-Bah it isn't a coup.

Yes the MB and it's supporters are going to fight this as they should, you see there are still people on this planet who are willing to risk more than carpal tunnel if they feel their vote doesn't matter.

That's Right TNE.....Johnny Quest McCain just got back from over there. All you need do is listen to his remarks on the Sunday talk shows. Wherein he stated that this is where he and Obama agree. Which as usual he would not answer the question on whether Congress should now stop any Military Aid to Egypt. Both Neo Cons and Neo Libs have their hands in the cookie jar here.

All that talk on how there should be a democracy. Kerry said the world was watching. Yet neither of them had any remarks for the MB. Just the Egyptian Military.

OK, Skippy, what about the "honest discussion" of PPACA (and adhering to the letter of that law), an actual federal budget (not more last minute CRs and debt "ceiling" increases) or of the current "dreamy" immigration law enforcement? The GOP has a majority in the House only, thus no power to stop Obama from doing pretty much as he pleases, with or without congressional approval.

I clearly said there are many Egyptians who voted for the MB, who now feel their vote doesn't count. (and our 'patriots' for all their bombast claim their votes don't count and obama has made himself King- yet they sit at home rather than protest) I am not so sure it was the MB as much as Morsi who muck about with the Constitution that brought the Military into this. I also think it is waaaay too simplistic to claim Egypt would become another Iran.

I was more inclined to see the people rise up in protest to the Constitution being mucked around with than the military stepping in, but as long as the Military refrains from making one of their own boss it can all be gravy once it has simmered enough.

Well there is the actual honest assessment,(as opposed to yours) which is the usual when a mouth piece for the progressives starts to spout off about patriots mustering up and that real fact of truth concerning the progressives.....which for them is the inability of ever being able to step up to that plate.
