OANN getting dropped from DirectTV

Really OrphanSlug? Why such a flaming post? Racist white nationalist Trump Republicans? Seriously? Wow!

I do not watch this channel, but I checked our cable provider, and they have OANN listed. These so called "racist white nationalist Trump Republicans" you claim exist in a manor is threatening seem to have several options to get this channel if it is so damn important to them. Direct TV has a reputation problem because they did not honor the contracts they made with their customers and for that the Feds have gone after them suing for billions of dollars on behalf of the customers that were taken. By your thinking, black nationalists who are supported on MSNBC and CNN should be dropped also. Sit and spin on that one for a while.
I know nothing about OANN but I do know I do not support the silencing of any speech and would not support a company that did.
There's a difference between "silencing" speech and not providing that speech a platform on a given service.

Just for example, you might not like "silencing speech" but by being on DP you support a platform that does silence the speech of racist vermin, trolls, etc. on their platform. I noticed one such person was booted/cancelled/silenced this week.

They can can chose whatever they want to carry. If the reason was over denying political views, then it isn't alright in my opinion.. The last I read the feds were suing them for not honoring their contracts with their customers.
OK, but white supremacy/white nationalism is a "political view" as is anti-Semitism and fascism. Calling for the overthrow of our government with a violent insurrection and becoming an authoritarian dictatorship is a political view. Etc.... Whatever you might think of those 'political views' it's actually OK IMO for any private entity to 'deny' them a broad platform.

Who cares? I ditched Direct TV over two years ago. I became tired of them nickel and diming the monthly charges. The dish antenna is still on the roof. Maybe I'll take it down and convert it to a bird bath.

Can you pls define "black nationalists"?

Where do they go that has the market penetration the size of DirecTV?
Why is that meaningful? DirectTV is a declining entity. It lost over 3 million subscribers in 2020 alone. Streaming is catching on.

If they lowered their prices, I would think about going back. The service isn't bad, it's just that you get so much more for the same price using streaming services. Their harassment policy after you cancel is my biggest problem with them.

no one is "silencing" oann

just like you could migrate to another web platform if debate politics jettisoned you for being other than beneficial to its operations, you would still have the ability to post/speak freely. just not on someone else's platform

direct tv only carried oann as a result of a legal settlement with that dispicable channel
once the contract agreement expires, direct tv will no longer have an obligation to carry a channel it likely deems unbeneficial to its own economic viability. self-interest. surprised you cannot identify with that concept
And for good measure, let's remind all that the 1A is irrelevant to this story. Private company has no obligation to allow anyone and everyone air time.

I never liked their marketing techniques. They would offer you a two year subscription with a low rate for the first year only. And even during that first year, they nickeled and dimed subscribers with more charges for hookups in more rooms. At least with the streaming services, you can go month to month and not get hit with cancellation charges. And yes, the harassment policy after leaving was annoying. They would call continuously trying to get you back, no matter how many times you said "No!"

Exactly.

OANN is still free to spew their muck.

Business is business and apparently DTV doesn't feel OANN is good for Business.

They called me for two months almost everyday. I was paying $200 a month for my package in three rooms when I cancelled. Hulu with live TV is $70 a month. Adding the rest of my services, including music streaming, I pay around $170 total now and not only is it more programming, adding a TV to a room is just plug it in and put in a password.

Ja, really.

OANN is a far right, conspiracy theory pimping, failing just about every fact checker known to man propaganda tool and it is geared towards a far right faction of the Republican Party that can only be described as White Nationalists.

Low credibility, poor to no source checking, and generally speaking designed to take an extreme few already angry at everyone only to make matters worse.

We have no choice but to consider OANN a danger.

Everyone that is complaining about "free speech" or some shit, everything that makes OANN is still there plus all the internet sources for them suggest they have no issues with free speech and the government is not involved in the mix anyway.

Is what their creditors will feel like...

Point is, OAN is not going away. I get them on a streaming service. Ditching OAN will only expand the number of Direct TV customer cancellations.

I (we) had DTV for years, damned expensive and they would arbitrarily switch channel line up which in essence altered packages. When my Sweet passed away one of the first things I did was cancel the DTV service saving about $120 a month. I get by just fine with my Amazon Prime for watching movies and other stuff when I feel like it and get off the internet.

Which I am certain DTV took into full account when they decided to no longer carry OANN's partisan tripe programming.

How the hell do you think they pay for reporters, etc.? Are you aware there was a movement for people offended by their support of OAN to leave AT&T?

Making room for the new Trump channel.

OANN is begging watchers to petition Comcast and Charter Cable to add OANN to their line ups. :ROFLMAO:
