Navy turns to drag queen in effort to boost Gen Z recruits

China is preparing for war, they see us as soft and beatable, with Biden as POTUS.
China has been considered a threat since before I joined the Navy, in the 90s. Granted, it has steadily grown larger as a threat in the last several decades, but it has still been a threat. It has nothing to do with Biden. It has everything to do with the general instability of the world. It has to do with 2 decades of the American military being in conflicts, near enough to China and now no longer being there. In fact, right around the time I was getting off my ship, they were talking about changing from mainly just staying in the Persian Gulf to staying in the Indian Ocean and closer to China. There's a reason we've had a carrier in Japan for the last several, several decades.

Were you a government interrogator in a previous life?
Would you like me to divulge in public the work I did overseas for the DIA, NSA, and DOD?

I asked you a very simple question that has absolutely nothing to do with security clearance. You said you were a Chinese interpreter. I asked which dialect.

Why is that such a big secret?

Do right wingers think men dressed like women was invented in 2020?

They would like your entire service record. Then, once they have it, they will call you a liar. I'm starting to figure out how this site works.

My experience in that line of work is almost 60 years old.
And I still am reluctant to talk about what I did.
That's why I am still pissed off at that 21-year old idiot thinking it was alright for him to smuggle out top secret documents and post them on a gaming web site.

There are some on this site who like to collect data on posters they don't like and save it for later.
Kind of like Chuck Todd on NBC Meet the Press and Margaret Brennan on Face the Nation. Getting that sound bite to use to nail a Conservative is like finding a gold nugget to convert into cash.

Can you think of an armed force more rooted in toxic masculinity than the Taliban?

The Taliban succeeded in large parts due to their increased focus on equality and inclusion.

I have a degree in Mandarin Chinese. Why is that important to you?
You wish to write my biography?

They also machine gunned girls for going to school.

The fact that they attempted to recruit from amongst ethnic groups they had no previous ties with doesn’t change the fact that they were about as far from Western standards as you can possibly get.

That they did, but that had little to do with their victory.

It proves the point that their entire ideology was fundamentally rooted in toxic masculinity...but they still beat the US.

Much like most memes, the one quoted did not reflect an accurate view of the world.

China was considered a threat before I joined the Air Force in the 1960s. They are relentless in their pursuit of total influence in Asia.
I never seen a country with such a martial society. I was there in 2019 before the pandemic and totally impressed with the their level of patriotism and military presence - especially in Tibet.

The Taliban's victory had little to do with their superior military capabilities over the US. Mainly because it really didn't exist.

Yeah. They murdered equally and were inclusive about their killing.

That was admittedly a tongue in cheek comment, but it's ultimately true.

When the Taliban resurged in 2004-2005 they went out of their way to adjust their ideological practices to become less of a Pashtun-centric tribal force and a more generalized Afghan organization. Their willingness to reach out to non-Pashtun groups and become a more inclusive organization is what laid the groundwork for their systematic dismantling of the GoIRA and its local officials.

Meanwhile, the Taliban also ditched the tribal command structure that had been more common in the 90s for a more merit based promotion system (which by definition is more egalitarian). This allowed them to rotate commanders in and out of the field without the loss of loyalty or combat effectiveness. In the end this allowed them to weather ISAF targeted killings for more effectively than NATO liked to admit, while also allowing them to exploit the still heavily tribal political structure of many GoIRA loyal forces.

No, I’d rather not bore people to tears with the biography of a bitter old white man who hates everybody.

They see enough of that in the GOP.

So they were able to adapt and learn from their failures, something the US seems either utterly incapable of or completely unwilling to do.

Any American adaptability became useless after December 2001.

That'll work like a charm. "Hey kids, you remember that stupid thing were people wanted you to be around drag queens when you were younger and now you find it insufferable? Join the military for more of it."

The left is so upset that they are so out of touch with the culture.

Next maybe they should try and ban video games.

Lol
You are just out of touch with today's reality.
My sons are in a fraternity that where 1/2 of the fraternity is ROTC . The fraternity has openly gay and bi members and the brothers could give a crap.
My sons don't give a crap though I will admit in my generation a openly gay member would have been tough for me.

The younger generation just doesn't care about your generations bigotry or phobias.

What on Earth does this have to do with drag queens as a recruiting tool?

This is about drag queens it has nothing to do with gay people or phobias

I think you're expressing some of your own phobias and bigotry. I'm a gay man but I'm not a drag queen.

1. You do realize that ROTC stands for Reserve Officers Training Corp. And these young men will be going off into the military right?
2. Sure it does. They don't care if you are gay or bi or wear women's clothes. They care if you can do your duty and have their back when the crap hits the fan.
3. Sure. Your generation cares about it as does mine.
My sons ..who the military is trying to recruit doesn't. And they are much more likely to join an orgination that accepts their friends rather than forces them back into the closet.

How do drag queens for into it?

2. Sure it does. They don't care if you are gay or bi or wear women's clothes. They care if you can do your duty and have their back when the crap hits the fan.
Again what does this have to do with drag queens?

Not really, I'm a millennial

You can accept something without using it as a promotional tool. I'm sure they wouldn't take issue with swingers but it would be a bizarre thing to advertise with.

I really don't think gen z is crazy about drag queens.

They like that the military is accepting.
That's the hook. "Do your job. That's what matters in the military ".

They like that the military is accepting.
It isn't though. Try to join with flat-footedness or asthma.

That's the hook. "Do your job. That's what matters in the military ".
I just think the way you get the boys interested in it are trucks and jeeps and planes and helicopters and boats and stuff.

Is the only adventure boys strive for now to dress up like a woman when it's perfectly and totally accepted it doesn't require the slightest amount of bravery?

I just don't think in one generation the species changed that much. I've interacted with people from Genesee they're not that different from my generation.

That idiot who came up with that recruiting ad must have attended the same marketing class as that idiot who came up with the Bud Light promotion ad that cost that company hundreds of millions in beer sales and stock market losses.
Could be. The idiots I know get upset at advertisements. Silly boys.

That’s why the younger generation is going to save us from the hateful boomers who want everything to go back to the 50s.
