There's always a worse off country. Poor arguement. While we're "liberating" don't forget that this is about our securities.
It's too bad about how they are living because of what their own brothers in "Alah" are doing to them. But the fact is that it is the price that has to be paid. It didn't matter where we attacked. The entire Middle East is the problem and no matter where we went we would be fighting these cretins who find comfort in slaughtering their own as well as anyone that isn't like them. Until the peaceful or passive Muslims in the area rise up beyond what these ****s have done to their religion and their society, they will always be victims. Do you think if we attacked Saudi, the terrorists wouldn't be lashing at us? How about Syria...how about Iran? Do you think Al-Queda would have just stayed away? It wouldn't matter. You people don't get it. 9/11 was not the result of a few rogues. It was a result of a failing civilization. The Middle East is the problem. Their blasphemous version of Islam is the problem. Their age old practices and religious zealousy is the problem. Their oppressions and fear of offending "Allah" is the problem. And you, Christians, Hindus, and "back-slidden" Muslims are their target.

But truthfully, if these sorts of things have always been going on, why do you suppose Americans have a sense that we are above them? Why the shock about Abu Ghraib? I was living in a very conservative town when Abu Ghraib broke and there was genuine shock across the political spectrum, left and right.
I guess it's the lies I resent the most. I don't want to be lied to. If America isn't going to be the shining "army of freedom & liberty" (because such a thing is not possible) then I want to know about it up front. Enough of the nationalistic myths. Perhaps if Americans were prepared for the inevitability of our major mistakes and shortcomings, then these sorts of things wouldn't beg so to be set free. It is a small world these days, with the internet, 24 hour news and such. We all seem to like these things. But maybe we need to accept that their prevalence in our lives makes secrets very hard to keep.
And outside of Al Gore actually inventing the internet, Liberals have nothing to do with this phenomenon....grumble.....
mixedmedia said:Dude, you wrote it yesterday. Sorry, I have a life. Don't....you?
Yes, our security. It is so obvious that we went to Iraq for our security. All of our reasons for going to Iraq were LIES. At the very least untruths. We went to Iraq because a group of neo-cons were in power who had been foaming at the mouth for this war for decades.
If this would have happened in any Muslim country we invaded, why didn't it happen in Afghanistan, home of Al Qaeda? In between Iran and Pakistan, the two countries who hate us most in the Middle East/South Asian regions? There has been some insurgent action, but nothing like Iraq.
It's not lies. It's simply keeping you in the dark so that you can't interfere with what we have to do.
Something as great as our society doesn't come and is not protected by being "gentlemen" in the face of aggression.
We hate the press. I use the word "we" because I'm a Marine, but our will to defeat the enemy and to do what is necessary has existed waaaaay before little old me arrived at Boot Camp. The truth is that it is best that Americans are left in the dark and accept that we are doing our jobs. (Abu-Graib being one of those embarassing exceptions.) It's easier on us.
Don't forget that they would also keep a scoresheet handy so they can judge with their superior knowledge whether their soldiers are waging war in a "correct" manner...:roll:jamesrage said:Civilians will never understand this and if they had it there way a camera would be mounted on every soldeir's and marine's K-pot so they watch every thing that is going on while eating a bowl of popcorn.
I totally agree with that statement.Civlians can have the biggest mouths and loose lips can sink ships.

1.) If we're winning; of which I know we are cuz there are more dead Al Qaeda than us.
2.) How many terrorists the great USofA smeared all over the sand. But keep our number of dead secret so that it doesn't demoralize the civilians.
3.) Stories of how Iraqi ppl appreciate what we've done there, of which you only hear that on Fox and other Conservative news outlets, cuz Libbies don't want America to win. Remember, America, to the the Liberals, is just a big bully that picks on poor little 'ol Saddaam.
Things the press shouldn't report on:
1.) Politician and Celebrity opinions. Cuz 9 times outta 10, it's a liberal, like Clinton, saying that we should pull out before we're done screwing the terrorists or that we are losing the War. Do you know how much that demoralizes our men and women over there? Alot, I would guess.
2.) Prisoner Abuse. There is none. We are simply humiliating them, and the press wouldn'y even have know if it weren't for some yahoo selling the pics for profit! Stacking them up in naked piles ain't torture. It's mental humiliation. Pure and simple.
3.) Cindy Sheehan. She has no cred. Sheehan acts like she's the only mother to have lost a child in war. Even her own family disowns her and her husband left her. I feel bad that her son died, but her behavior is uncalled for. Her son died for his country, his president, and his family. He died honourably. She had a chance to meet with Bush, so she don't need another.
So basically, you think the press should only report the news which you agree with? That is the first step towards a totalitarian regime. In fact, when a country invades another country one of the first things they do is take over broadcasting cause thats how important it is to misinform people.1.) FinnMacCool said:I am troubled, however, at the effect of our prescence in Iraq because I believe it could cause more trouble with terrorism. In some ways, you could interpert our invasion of Iraq as a much more effective way of recruitment for terrorists. Because, as I say time and time again, people do not develop fanatical hatred for you overnight.
But I have gotten way off topic here. I apologize for that.
Is anyone else starting to see the redundancy of these posts? Is there some bias in the media? Yeah there is. Is it all liberal? Hell no. Is it all conservative? Hell no! But the fact that you, Aquapub, seem to think you are somehow proving something by constantly posting updates on the liberal bastards from conservative websites because, obviously, you don't watch CNN, is just plain dumb.
Are you upset about those terrible evil liberal monsters obstructing the nations view? ok then watch Fox news. Most people I know who are conservative watch Fox News. Why? Cause its conservative. There are many people who watch several different news stations, like myself. I know Fox News is conservative and it doesn't matter to me that they spew bullshit though I think its rather sad that people don't make an effort to inform themselves from an unbaised source but whatever.
Perhaps you feel that people cannot tell the difference between a biased and an unbiased report? Ok then your concerns are valid. However only idiots think that way. There aren't that many idiots on these forums. You might convince one of them but you'll never convince all of them. I've watched the Situation Room. Its nice to watch when I get home from school. I know who you are talking about and his hints aren't very subtle. Its pretty obvious he is biased. But using this as evidence that all of the media is liberal then thats just plain simple minded. Everyone has their opinion. This isn't a war against you.

aquapub said:The media DID cover this event. A friend of mine was on TV because she was there. This entire thread is a lie.
Even if they didn't, since when is the media required to be an unquestioning mouthpiece for Democrats in order to be "objective?"
Democrats are so use to print and TV news slanting or fabricating information in their favor that they mistake objectivity for conservative bias.
It is a joke.
Just look at how many reporters, news producers, and anchors ADMITTEDLY voted for Kerry, Gore, and Clinton vs. the American people. STARK CONTRAST. If that doesn't convince, then consider that Tim Russert, Bill Moyers, George Stephanopolous, Chris Matthews, and damn near every other household name anchor is not only a registered Democrat, but actually WORKED FOR Democrats IN OFFICE before being trusted to disseminate legitimate news. And their producers are far worse. Many of the people behind the scenes (Mary Maupin, Evan Thomas, the entire staff of the NY Times, etc, etc) are card-carrying radicals of the left.
This is documented fact.
Their just isn't any conservative presence like this in the media. And even if you hysterics want to scream about FOX not having a liberal bias (or, as you say, having a conservative bias), that is one station amidst an ocean of ADMITTEDLY left-wing run print and TV news sources.
So, please give me a f-ing break!
People who peddle nonsense like this thread are completely ignorant of the evidence involved or they are a liar.

You're kidding right?
You think because you saw your friend on TV that the media covered the event. Sorry, I was tuned into to all the sources: print, blog and TV and the only one who came close to covering the event was The Nation, while C-Span was kind enough to cover the speeches.
BTW, it doesn't mean squat how biased the producers or journalists may be, they are all subject to the policies and guidelines of their company. Need I even mention the conservative handful of multi-national corporations who own 90% of the media?
The only liberal media bias today is found amongst the blog's and programs such as Air America.
Nice try buddy. Care to entertain us with any more jokes?
That's because there is no "...Left slant...". It's all right.Originally Posted by DeeJayH:
