Larry Flynt is at it again (1 Viewer)

No one could be in possession of Romney's tax returns (other than Romney) for a legal purpose (his CPA, the IRS, etc.) and release them without violating their professional oaths and the law. Ergo, if such a person "converted" Romney's tax documents to their own use, the documents would be "stolen".

Legality only applies to the US in this case. in other words it is hard to charge someone if they release it on foreign soil with any sort of US theft, especially if the country they do it in is not on good terms with the US. With the internet you would just need to take the money and be in a suitable foreign place. a million dollars is a lot of money for a clerk at romney's tax firm. Perhaps even for one of the IT guys. More than enough to get out of the country and find a new home in another nice place. Hey, you would even avoid US taxes, and if romney doesn't get to be president no one is really going to hunt you down.

well, go on out there and steal some private tax records if you thinks it's cool...

First, if i was in a position to get his records, and i could guarantee a million for them, you could be damned sure I would be on my way to a foreign country with a million dollars to make my way with. Sorry, but a million dollars would go a long way outside of the US, and I really don't think exposing the presidential candidate that is hiding stuff from the public to be a huge crime. Seriously, it is not like releasing tax records is like giving out bank account numbers, or other damaging private information. If you are going to be angry at that little bit, you should be ready to kill your utility companies who show your Social security number, home address, credit information, name, phone number, and enough personal information for anyone of the employes in that company to steal your identity. It is not like i am showing all that information on 75 percent of americans to the random person who answers the phone when you call, or works in the offices with your personal information.

But if you want to be all bothered by the fact a million dollars is a lot of money to expose a creep like Romney for what he is, then so be it. It really doesn't effect me much anyway. i figure the information will find it's way out there before the election anyway. it actually should be required showing for people running for important public office. Especially when they are running on their supposed financial record, and are hip deep in a religious cult.

it's a wasted effort to justify why thievery is a good thing to you.. I won't agree.

i don't want idiots stealing Obama's records, and i don't want idiots stealing Romney's records... especially over such buffoonery as political partisanship.

as a former Mormon, i do take exception to you use of the word "cult" as a denigration.... but i'm glad you used it nonetheless... i like to know the character of people i deal with online.

The First Amendment protects the publication of stolen documents.

Sorry to have to say so, but that is insane IMHO. Now if they were company pages that prove that a company or government has broken laws, then yes, maybe it can be excused by private tax papers of an individual should not be allowed to be printed.

Flynt is a counter-demagogue. Any demagoguery that occurs on the political Right, he slides his head on the table with his own form of demagoguery.

he's offered a million bucks for evidence of any Republican's sex scandal.

I read Hustler for a bit...for the articles, of course :ssst:... and yeah, he's a staunch Republican hater... he won't even talk badly about Democrats that do the same stuff as POS republicans.
nuthin wrong with all that, we are what we are... not gonna applaud him for it though ( i will for fighting the legal battles he has )

His million dollar bounty on sex scandals was generic and didn't target republicans actually. He just put ou $1 million for a sexual encounter with any politician in washington or high political figure. That being said, it says he's been a lifelong Democrat aside from a half-hearted presidential run for prez as a republican.

nope.. he never made that offer for clinton... he defends clinton's escapades.

he puts himself firmly in the democrats arena.. I have nothing to do with it. ( every party has folks who are ..distasteful)

as for reading Hustler....I read it for the articles, i tell ya.. really.. honestly....i wouldn't lie!

ok, not really.. i lied:lol:... but after a discussion with the misses, I had to agree that his variety of porn was not kosher and I stopped... it's not right to be opposed to exploitation and sexism and turn around and buy into his products, so I don't.

I saw him in an interview where he was basically defending Governor Sanford of South Carolina for his Appalachian escapade. He said he felt sorry for him because of all the scandals out there his was the only one that was a result of falling in love with someone rather than just snagging a shag.

I think it's deplorable. Being able to put a bounty on what amounts to private information just shows to what lengths Democrats will do to disenfranchise the American people. He makes me sick on general principle anyhow.

It's time Republicans put a bounty out on Obama's college records. Let's see all those socialist classes he taught. How he filled out his application. How many student loans he really got. And how many scholarship grants he got because he said he was Kenyan. Those things can be the only reason he refuses to release that information.

Disenfranchise the american people? you mean with voter ID laws?

Disenfranchise the american people? you mean with voter ID laws?

No. :)

By slandering Romney to the point where people are calling him a crook just because he didn't release his income tax returns. But I'm a different person since I wrote that post, so . . . whatever. ;) :rofl

He continues to make politicians rue the day they decided to screw around with him back in the day.

Larry Flynt Offers $1 Million for Mitt Romney's Tax Returns
The Hustler publisher has taken out full-page ads in the Washington Post and USA Today announcing the proposal.

The Hustler magazine founder, editor and publisher announced that he is offering "up to a million dollars in cash" for the Republican presidential candidates "tax returns and/or details of his offshore assets, bank accounts and business partnerships," a statement reads.

The offer will be featured in a full-page ad taken out in the Sunday edition of The Washington Post and the Tuesday edition of USA Today.

“What is he hiding?” Flynt asks. “Maybe, now, we’ll find out.”

The ad will include a telephone hotline and e-mail tip line where anyone with information on the elusive financial documents can share what they know.

What's interesting is that this hacker group just recently claimed to have stolen Romney's tax returns and was ransomoing them off for $1 million. I'm betting they are FOS and just trying to get money. This will show if they did or not. I'm betting not.

So a smut king and some wannabe anons don't like Romney. Big deal.

Is Leis also the DA who tried to prosecute a museum for displaying Mapplethorpe's photos?

yeah, I went to the members only night (Mom was on the board), the public opening the next night Si shut it down. That didn't last long-the 4-5 photographs of hundreds were hardly above R rating. Perhaps the most "disturbing" was one called "Joe" that had some dude in a full leather bodysuit with a straw to breath through-some sort of SM fetish I suppose. some of the photographs were stunning. Si's a prude of the worst sort

the funniest was a picture (and it was hardly as graphic as it sounds) was an arm stuffed up someone's rear. the joke going on was IS THIS ART and the answer is hell no-ART had a pimple on his ass !!

Si is a bad combination of German Law and order and Catholic moral fascism and Marine Corp black and white

I would note that the best photographs (and having been an amateur photographer at one time) were his pictures of flowers. stunning. another was his pictures of a lady body builder. I believe her name was Lisa Lynum or something like that. before she really started bulking up the pictures of her were hard and masculine and then as she became more muscular the pictures were more feminine including one of her in chiffon and lace.

his pictures of his dear friend, the Goddess of American Punk, Patti Smith were great as well. I saw the alleged "homoerotic" stuff as a footnote to his life-many were taken when he knew that his lifestyle and the AIDS he contracted from it had doomed him and could be seen as a warning. My brother-once a photo-artist in NY-met the guy. He was a huge talent. Its sad that Si couldn't figure that out. But in no way am I suggesting that Larry Flynt is an artist and while I oppose Leis's jihad against Flynt, Flynt is a pimp and a turd and unlike Mapplethorpe contributed nothing of value to society

I went to the same school Mapplethorp went to. And the guy who does his printing was one of my teachers in grad school.

massive cool-did you ever meet the man? My brother met him at some party-said the guy was "low key" and "not too impressed with himself"

I liked his stuff-I had one of his books but I ended up giving it to a friend of mine as a college graduation present-she studied photography and it was a limited edition-I couldn't find another one but she really liked it

He was already real sick in the late 80's when I went to the city. But I did meet a lot people that knew him. And I never heard a bad thing about the guy.

anyone who loved Patti Smith has to be a good guy!!

They dated when he was studying at Pratt;)

Yeah I know that they also lived together too. Patti smith despite her "edge" is one of the most attractive women I ever saw. Poor Robert, he should have stuck to sleeping with Patti-he'd still be with us!!

GO GO FLYNT!!!!

And thanks for the SCOTUS free speech ruling that helps all US CItizens!

Justabubba, use your noodle. If the release of a candidate's tax returns was legal, the media could get them by a mere Freedom Of Information Act request.

It's not, they can't, we all know this apart from you and no one wants to do legal research for you this morning.
i thought you were a former attorney
someone knowledgeable about the law should understand that FOIA pertains only to the information contained within the government's system of records

have no fear. in no way would i want you to do any legal research

but if you were cognizant of what has transpired within this thread you would know that a forum member insisted that the 4th amendment and the 1964 privacy act made such disclosure illegal
i have asked him and his subaltern, who painfully came to his defense, to post the text of those two documents to prove to us the illegality they insist would be found in those words
neither has risen to the challenge
instead, they have slinked away from it

you are almost my age, which means you were around when the public disclosure of the pentagon papers was made. and those who insisted that the pentagon papers could not be published were proven to be wrong by the courts
which is why i persist in requesting the text of the amendment and 1964 legislation cited by that poster be shown to us ... at least the salient parts that would make such publication illegal

I don't know whether I disagree or not, but that's the law.
