Kristi Putin: we're going to "liberate LA" from "burdensome leadership"

I'm sorry, Visbek, but I care about preserving our democracy far more than I care about the feelings or granting fair consideration to any individual Democratic politicians, especially a corporate Democrat like Padilla. Padilla could have and should have taken a few hours or a night to recover and released a statement on Friday. This could have been a rallying cry for the Democratic base to rise up in outrage against an openly authoritarian administration. But he blew his chance, wasted his moment, and this outrageous conduct by Kristi Noem will be forgotten by Monday. Hell, it might not be remembered by tomorrow.
Disagree.

Respectfully, no. It is not licit to withhold those monies. The corporate press would absolutely both-sides the moment. Trump would have legal pretext to declare a state of rebellion.

A state of rebellion, after he nullifies the Constitution anyway?
That will be rich.
Tell me more about what's legal, and how the so called "librul" media are our friends.
In case you didn't notice, a lot of people have stopped paying attention to legacy media.

I say make the move, let Trump shriek, let the media bothsides it and worry about the legality later.

Well, I’ll try to make it simple. Who is the appropriate target of anger as it relates to a grievance against the government? The government or your local pharmacy?
:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Explain the difference as it pertains to the law. If one assaults a LEO at a protest in LA or one assaults a LEO on the Capital grounds?

The grievance has no bearing to the vandalism, assaults, etc.

Disagree.
No one asked, so I'm amenable to being told to go **** myself by all takers, but it seems to me that there is no one right way to oppose the formation of a fascist junta, in real time.

We are all accountable for this moment, because history has thrust it upon us. Not every person has physical courage. Not every person can take a blow to the body. Some can stand the breach, but it is not shame for those who cannot if they will still work for human liberty, for dignity for all.

But we all have to ante up and kick in anyway. I prefer, in this historical moment, to turn away from the levers of power that have failed us since Reagan. Others still have faith that the republic can recover through the agency of its officers.

Some have clearly chosen xenophobia, barbarism and death-worship. They, I think, have surrendered their dignity along with their liberty, and it will be no easy nor simple task to account for their fealty to inhumanity in the brutal season that is upon us.

These are all hard choices. Maybe we who can recognize each other as friends of liberty and dignity should keep this in mind, and leave room for the many methods, the innumerable unwitnessed acts of courage and sacrifice, the shared danger we did not choose but must now accept.

I would rather not give Trump and the Roberts Court the legal pretext when we have only now begun to see the magnitude of the challenge that faces us, and have not yet begun to speak to each other as allies and friends, nor plan for the long, dark night that now descends.

I disagree...because people LIKE @Visbek have this interesting habit of inventorying every single little niggling thing, and it's obvious that they are quite organized about it too.
Trust me, it's NOT being forgotten.

Roberts court....pffftttt.
Let me tell you about the "Roberts court" 😆
We are about to witness the Supreme Court get told where they can cram their rulings the next time they make one that Twumpy doesn't like.
Roberts created a monstrous snake that is above the law and now expects to not get bitten.

The Chief Justice will be led away in shackles soon enough, as SCOTUS has no enforcement or defense mechanism, because the Founders assumed that honor would work.
Face facts, the Republic exists in name only from this point on.

I don't disagree. With any of it. But we need time. For reasons I don't fully understand, we have chosen the hard way.

I daresay all blue state governors throwing a press conference to announce a federal money embargo is pretty damn theatrical, at least as a start.

Morons!

They need to take lessons from Canadian Premiers, who, when awarded federal funds immediately accuse the feds of "buying votes" but spend the money as fast as they can.

Then they accuse the feds of creating a need and demand more $$$ which they can condemn as adding to the deficit.

It's win, win baby.

When I say “forgotten” I mean forgotten by the public at large. Not by people who are political junkies like us.

The chief justice is going to have to get used to being completely ignored.

"The court? Tell it to someone who gives a shit."

Trump will never obey the supreme court since he's the supreme being

Much respect!

Exactly. When the left has a grievance with the government they take it out indiscriminately on their fellow citizens. When the right has a grievance with the government they take it to the government.

Yes, surely democracy would be saved if he threw a temper tantrum in front of the cameras. He should have punched a cop instead. Now it's hopeless!!!

This could have been a rallying cry for the Democratic base to rise up in outrage against an openly authoritarian administration.
Uh, hello? They're already rising up. What do you think Saturday will be about?

The federal government "liberating" a US city from its elected mayor and governor?

Any Trump supporters want to weigh in on that one?

Elected by Chinese-hacked voting machines and tens of millions of illegal alien hordes, armed with Jewish space lasers and BLM voter intimidation.

Did I miss anything?

Chemtrails!

you dance around the issue. You can't bring yourself to say that those who assaulted LEO's at the Capital broke the law .
I have no problem saying they broke the law as well as the protesters in LA who assault LEO's or destroy private/govt. property.

Why can't you?

This country is pretty-much ****ed. Half the voting population lives in a world of mythology.

Sen. Alex Padilla was forcibly removed from a news conference Thursday morning with Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. Noem was speaking in Los Angeles about recent ICE operations in the region when Padilla was removed from the room after saying, "You insist on exaggerating." At least two men approached Padilla, a Democrat, near a wall and pushed him through doors near the rear of the room. He can be heard saying, "I am Sen. Alex Padilla and I have questions for the secretary."
.
.
Noem had been speaking on California and Los Angeles leadership moments before Padilla was removed. "We're not going away," Noem said just before the disruption. "We are going to liberate the city from the burdensome leadership, mayor and governor."

Noem said, “We are not going away. We are staying here to liberate the city from the socialist and the burdensome leadership that this governor and this mayor have placed on this country and what they have tried to insert into this city.”

So...what? Just disappear the leaders and install illegitimate Trump toadies a the point of a gun? Is LA where Trump begins his campaign to become America's Putin?

Or is it more of that "just hyperbole" until the thing happens, at which point, the pivot will be "ok but you made us do it", then "so what", then "ok it's bad but you're worse"?

Think of all the times they told you you were paranoid, then they did exactly what you said they'd do.

Blue state governors had better get it into their heads that this isn't going way if they just keep their heads down. They're going to have to be ready for state-federal confrontation and people are going to have to be ready to flood the streets in protests that shut everything down, else accept rise of fascist dystopia and the end of "elections" in the no longer leader of the "free world".

And remember: MAGAs will troll you with lies about how you're Chicken Little, right until they're dancing over America's grave. Or should I say "Americans' graves"?
How very federalist of Republicans, so much for don't tread on me flag....now it says....IT is totally Magayee if you tread on me, oh you great GOD KING Trump!!!

What baffles me with Maga is.... How is it their head is not exploding from holding so many contradictions in one place...unless it is all empty room!

Diving Mullah

don't tread on me.webp

You asked how the two are different. I told you.

You asked how the two are different. I told you.

Let me ask you this. Should those found guilty of crimes of assaulting LEO's and damaging govt property at the Capital on Jan6 be pardoned like President Trump did?

You seem to want to hold those who have done the same thing in LA over the immigration issue be held accountable.

I'm sorry, is it your position that vandalism is worse than attempting to overthrow a democratically-elected government? Please clarify.
