Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reported that Israeli jets flew over several areas of the country, following up the mock air raids it conducted on Wednesday.

“Israeli warplanes have been executing mock intensive air raids in Nabatieh, Iqlim al-Toufah, Marjayoun and Khiam airspace at a medium altitude since Friday morning,” the NNA said. In addition, southern towns of Tyre, Hasbaya and Bint Jbeil also experienced flyovers and dummy attacks.

What hypocrisy? Don't you know Israel is incapable of hypocrisy?

Unifil has recorded dozens of Israeli jets violating Lebanese airspace over the last few year. Lebanon with its very poor air defenses (it uses AA guns manually operated for most has no success in hitting Israeli jets

As for it being reported in US media, as the US media is very biased toward Israel (compared to any other countries media including Israeli) the fact you have not heard about it is not suprising as you would have to actively look for the reports

France24 - Lebanese army fires on Israeli fighter planes

July 2010Lebanon - Security Council Report

On 26 May the Lebanese army fired on, but did not hit, Israeli aircraft violating Lebanon’s airspace (similar incidents occurred in early 2010 and late 2009).

Even the Jpost reports on it

'Lebanon opens fire on IAF jets'

Overall the US media is so biased, it will not report what right wing Israeli media reports (Jpost is right leanign, Haaretz is left leaning

lebanon appears to be an ideal candidate to sell 21st century anti-aircraft weaponry
it also needs to buy enough concrete to definitize the "blue" line boundary, so that any observer would be able to recognize when the israelis are violating the ceasefire agreement
moshe dyan must be smiling about the increasing provocations, to "justify" israel initiating another "pre-emptive" war

I think it would be appropriate to supply Unifil with modern and effective weapons and the authority to eliminate anyone crossing the blue line either by foot, truck, tank, or airplane

Lebanon should invest in fighter jets and anti-aircraft military hardware, that is effective .

That isn't necessary. Lebanon has a history of being controlled, at least partially, by a terrorist group (Hezballah) and therefore should not be armed.

Doesn't "air raid" means bombs were dropped? Never heard of that in our media.

That's why it's called 'mock' raids. It is probably referred to in your media as military exercises or maneuvers. Violating another nation's sovereignty while conducting an exercise is not wise.

I see, I know its routine for Israeli air force planes to fly reconosis flights over Lebanon so thats not exactly news.

The same is true of Israel, which has been controlled by terrorists from Irgun, and Likud for decades. They should not be armed either. As long as Israel continues to be a hostile power and completely ignores international law, it's neighbors have no choice but to defend themselves.

Or crossing the blue line via rocket launcher.

That's BS. Israel is not run by terrorists or the known religion of terrorists. Israel is armed because it is surrounded by the brainwashed hordes of the supposed religion of peace.

we can also add to that mandate to use that heavy weaponry to actually enforce 1701 and go tgake away all the illegalweapons Syria has provided Hezbollah under their nose?

The core of 1701 was violatged by Hezbollah rearming, completely justifying any fly overs (actually justifying another full-out wargiven the termsof the ceasefire, but whatever...)

Let's face it. No matter what type of weaponry we give the U.N. they will not take on Hezbollah. Can't really blame them, they wold get wiped out. Isreal had to know this in 2006 but wanted to get out of the mess they were in. They would have had to destroy Lebanon to stop the missles and did not have the stomach for it.

It's a common misconception that violations of UN resolutions by Arabs automatically justify military retaliation (no one makes the same mistake with regard to Israel or the US, but whatever). In fact, 1701 only provides that the UN will maintain an international force and remain seized of the matter, not that Israel can resume the war at its own discretion.

Has Lebanon implemented the Taif Accords, and UNSC Res. 1559, 1680, and 1701 that call for the "disarmament of all armed groups in Lebanon" leaving Lebanon's armed forces as the only armed force within Lebanon?

No.

Hence, it is not surprising that Israel is flying missions over Lebanon to deter potential threats. Now, if Lebanon were to reach full compliance with the above-noted documents, then one could reasonably criticize Israel for having conducted the overflights. However, to date, that has not happened.

Is there a point. I think what was trying to be explained is if Hezbollah is going to have 40k missles, Israel is obliged to know where they are.

We may want to remember that the U.S. was willing to start a world war rather than have a few missles 90 miles away.

Why do you think Hezbollah woulld want 40 k missiles?

Perhaps 20 years of occupation of Southern Lebanon, where most Shia Lebanese lived. Shia Lebanese are the ones who make up Hezbollah. As the Lebanese military is grossly incompetent if I was living in Southern Lebanon I would not trust them to defend me or Lebanon from Israeli agression

The Likud Party was founded by terrorists. Terrorist murderers of the 1940's like Begin, Shamir and Sharon were given full amnesty after establishing their nation through deciet and murder, so instead of being brought to justice, they were able eventually to take power and keep all dissenters in line through terror and fear. Many of these admitted and proud terrorists have become the leading statesmen of the Jewish State and founding fathers of the Likud party. They have little moral ground to condemn modern Arab terrorists for doing what they themselves did in the 1940's and 1950's and have continued to do to the present day. These are some of the biggest hippocrites on the planet and those who support them are either ill informed or evil.

Well, I do know they ignored that patently offensive "Zionism is racism" resolution that singled out Jews as the one people in the entire world who should be denied self determination.

Not sure if the above is a joke or you are serious. Those missles are more to protect Iran as they develop nuclear weapons than to protect Lebanon. Why do you believe that Israel would want to move into south lebanon. Must keep the terrorists on your side of the border and everything will be fine.
