Glenn Beck has been vocally opposed to Newt Gingrich for a long time now.

I can't prove it, but it seems that Mr. Beck might have had every bit as much to do with Gingrich's nosedive in the polls as the negative ads run by Romney's PAC.

I have heard it said before that since Mr. Beck is himself a mormon, he is trying to knock Gingrich out of the race so that a Mormon candidate can win the election.

Do you believe this?

I mean, he has attacked Gingrich for not being "conservative enough," but hasn't been nearly as critical of Romney, who is much less conservative.

I know he has publicly supported Bachmann and Santorum, and that makes me doubt the accusation. If it were true, wouldn't he back Romeny or Huntsman?

On the other hand, Gingrich is probably the only one who really stood a chance of beating Romney, so it does make me wonder.

What say you? Does Glenn Beck have a personal motive here?

He's not doing anything right now - I haven't heard a peep about him . . . and then you ruined the blessed silence with your post.

why!

Why did you do that.

Since Beck was let go from FOX, he has been almost entirely irrelevant.

He is on conservative talk radio almost daily. Starts at 9am Chicago time.

Like I should care?

Let me guess

Your true opposition to Romney is not that he is liberal, but that he is mormon

Voters have pathetically short memories. I'm thinking it was the ads that reminded voters what a serious hypocrite Gingrich is that contributed most to his decline.

Yet Romeny is clearly the most progressive and liberal candidate in the Republican field. Isn't it strange that Beck would attack Gingrich for being "not conservative enough" and yet not say a peep about Romeny?

Glenn Beck... Wait, was he the one with the pointy hat that liked bobbing his genitalia in people's faces... No... That was a different one... Oh! I remember! He was the one that did that song about being too sexy for his shirt, right? Maybe we need a VH-1 show to help us keep these guys straight.

Glenn Beck isn't hurting any conservative because Gingrich isn't a conservative.

Uhmmm VH-! one doesn't keep guys straight. It has the opposite effect.

I'm can see a real "like gravitates to like" thing going on with Glenn Beck's lovefest for Mitt Romney - Morman -e- Morman. Makes perfect sense. I'll give you a  just for putting forth a plausable theory behind Beck's anti-Gingrich slant.

He does. Romney isn't his guy and he's vocal about it.

I think any endorsement from Glenn Beck would be unwelcomed by anyone depending to get elected by a majority.

He is a whack job that only appeals to other whack jobs. Fortunantly, there aren't that many of them around to have to be concerned about.

He is clearly more conservative than Romeny.

By hurting Gingrich's campaign and not doing the same to Romney's, Beck is essentially helping a moderate get the Republican ticket.

Glenn Beck's listeners are basically sheep who do whatever he tells them to do.

It's Romney. Grrrr.

He does. Romney isn't his guy and he's vocal about it.

So the question is, do you agree with some of what I have heard... namely that the reason is because Beck is Mormon?

I suppose if I were a Mormon, it would make sense for me to want another Mormon to be president.

I just wish people would think for themselves a little bit more, and not follow these talk show radio guys around like puppies.

The fact is that Glenn Beck has a huge following among conservatives, 90% of whom don't know that he is Mormon, and don't suspect that he might have personal motives behind wanting Romney in office.

He doesn't want Romney to be President, Peter. You're making all of this up in your head.

Seeing that you into him who do you think he wants?

He was all for Bachmann until she dropped out. Now he's for Santorum. Pat, Glenn's Mormon sidekick, has always been for Santorum and yells at people who just want to "settle" for Romney.

That is the direction I thought he'd go.

Thanxs Josie.

Glenn Beck is gone and he made a lot of American realize about how ****ing crazy some right wingers are and how the media can control so many people.
