TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- A senior Iranian naval commander says his country has sent several warships to the Atlantic Ocean, close to U.S. maritime borders for the first time.
Iranian officials said last month that the fleet consisted of a destroyer and a logistic helicopter carrier, which will be on a three-month mission.
Since when does a 'fleet' consist of two insignificant ships?
a helicopter carrier in case Iran wants to invade Bermuda, and a 'destroyer' so ...( incomplete thought)Since when does a 'fleet' consist of two insignificant ships?
I say we sink'em.
Yes, we should definitely murder random sailors in international waters.

Meh...I think there is a greater potential for the Iranian 'fleet' to break down and require assistance than there is reason to be concerned.
Only a Libbo would call it murder.

Pssssh. Its not like they represent a threat. Who do you think they are...Syria?It's not their overwhelming might that's a concern, it's their idiotic notion of intimidating us that might cause the War monkeys at the Pentagon to advise action on Iran's nuke facilities. Israel is probably praying that Iran gets within our territorial waters and provokes an encounter with our Navy.
Iran is not going to fire missiles at us from warships. it would mean instant regime change. China is not going to nuke us, either.
want to hear something really[/i scary, though? the house is caving in, and we're still devoting a lot of time and resources to whatever war is on the horizon. there's always some dangerous country out there. it's somebody else's turn. this is not the foreign policy that i want my kids to have to deal with.

well said, it is unfortunately the foreign policy your kids will have to deal with as we are in a Perpetual War on terror. We are American "exceptionalists" (s.i.c.) .
I haven't seen anyone in any election since maybe George McGovern espouse any other p.o.v.

Iran's Supreme Leader said on Saturday the United States would overthrow the Iranian government if it could, adding Washington had a "controlling and meddlesome" attitude towards the Islamic Republic, Iranian media reported.
But he reiterated that in dealing with "enemies", Iran should be prepared to change tactics but not compromise on its main principles.
Khamenei added: "The solution to our economic problems is not looking out and having the sanctions lifted ... My advice to our officials, as ever, is to rely on infinite indigenous potentials."
He added: "Our (hostile) stance toward the United States is due to its controlling and meddlesome attitude."
Khamenei's comments about hostility reflect his long standing animosity towards the United States, seen as the arch-enemy by Iranian authorities.

Sounds like a job for the Coast Guard... no need to bother the Navy.
Or maybe just a few cabin cruisers full of armed rednecks... :lamo
Historically the US and other countries leaders have diverted the public attention away from domestic problems with outward threats, be they real or self imposed.
The problem with Iran is that the Mid East is already a powder keg, and we still import enough oil from that area for a regional war to cause us problems with oil shortages and energy price spikes.
