I want to see if we can just talk about political issues here without saying crap about each other by having separate threads for all Democrats and Republicans. If your political lean is slightly liberal, liberal, very liberal, progressive, or socialist, you can start a discussion about any issue that belongs here. People think such a forum would an "echo chamber" just because they never saw what would actually happen. Let's see if like-minded posters do echo each other a lot of really debate on every political topic when no slightly conservative, conservative, very conservative, or Libertarian members join the discussion.
First topic: COVID-19 and the Economy
Maybe you can ask Admin for a safe space by creating a special "Democrats only" forum?

The first thing about COVID-19 and the economy is handling the virus well, which we are not.
A second thing is focusing policy on helping the American people, rather than allowing it to enrich the rich, like the Great Recession did - but it's already doing that, the richest have gained nearly a trillion dollars during the crisis.

What measures would you recommend to handle it better?
The Great Recession forced me to temporarily lose my job and work fewer hours every day when I did work. That was a lot of money I missed out on because George Bush likes big bank managers more than manufacturing company packers.
So, you're saying that you agree a nationwide lock down is just not a realistic option?
Biden has only two solutions: Lock the country down sending us into a Great Depression or a national mask mandate.
He said he would follow the science and listen to the experts but no experts are saying we need a national lockdown.
California has had a mask mandate for over two months now and now has more cases and deaths than before the mask mandate started.
Is this what Biden wants for America, a great depression and a mask mandate that doesn't work? Those are his solutions?
What measures would you recommend to handle it better?
I asked a question. Nothing in my post implies I believe a nationwide lockdown is realistic.
Joe Biden stated during his acceptance speech he wants a national mask mandate. That means he does NOT want to lock down the whole country because if people wear masks, they can go to work, all stores. some restaurants, etc.
A mask mandate has been done in California for over two months and things are now worse than before the mask mandate. Is that the best you can do?
Umm, that's what I said, that you agree that a nationwide lockdown is not realistic.
In addition, a national mask mandate is not realistic either. California has done that for over two months and now they have more cases and deaths per day than they had at the start of the mask mandate. Too many Americans (mostly the young liberals wanting to party, go to beaches and bars, and protest are going to flaunt the mask mandate, giving the nation the same results as the California mask mandate.
In other words, you guys blame Trump for things without having your own realistic solutions. It's just a blame Trump party for biased political reasons.
Actually, masks do work; Kansas has proven statistically they do:

Here's a chart too:

Put aside your feelings about Trump here and look at this situation from the other POV: All of the worst areas for COVID-19 have very dense populations except Arizona. Most cases in New York State were in New York City. In Florida, numbers are much worse in Palm Beach, Broward, and Dade Counties than the other 64 - so bad that m governor excluded them from his reopening plan in the May 4 executive order. Also, do not forget California, Texas, and Florida are the most populous states in that order. BTW California is worst in Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego Counties, which should not surprise anyone. Do you see a pattern there?
My point is your risk of getting COVID-19 is affected by which area you live in, not just whether Kentucky's governor is a Democrat or Republican.
A mask mandate has been done in California for over two months and things are now worse than before the mask mandate. Is that the best you can do?
A mask mandate was done in Arizona and our numbers fell significantly. What you don't seem to realize about California is that they have an enormous essential worker population. Plus, they are a vacation hot spot.
Masks have reduced the spread in a lot of states. That said, Biden/Harris will not have a national mask mandate. They have stated many times they will only encourage states and local businesses to enact them.
That does not seem like a platform so much as a list of things they support or oppose, a platform is an agenda, a plan for america, not just political leanings on topics.
The rnc already went with no pplatform as the gop was too divided to have a single platform, the dnc pretty much seems to have taken the same no platform approach but want to pretend they have one.
