Nothing improves the prospect of improving our response to the Covid-19 pandemic and faltering economy than removing Trump from the White House.

Trump has no clue on how to improve the collective health of the United States. Decisions by Team Trump increased the number of Covid-19 related deaths and the federal deficit.

Trump does not care about the General Welfare. He does not care about Healthcare. He doesn't care about decreasing the gap between Rich and Poor. He doesn't care about honesty. He doesn't care about diversity. He doesn't care about a Clean Earth.

Trump privately denigrates Military personnel. He cheated on his S.A.T. He routinely engages in criminal activity. He lies with impunity. He runs a criminal enterprise.

Make America Great Again! Dump Trump 2020! Help end the nightmare and the disgrace created by Team Trump! Vote Biden!

I don't understand how that relates to my post you quoted. I said mask mandates don't work because too many people refuse to follow the mask mandate, even in liberal states, even Nancy Pelosi. California has proven that a national mask mandate wouldn't work. They are words only. Yes, a mask mandate would work IF people followed them but even liberal California doesn't follow them. Neither would the US as a whole. Therefore, issuing a national mask mandate only makes you feel better while, as in California, the truth is mask mandates don't work.

Related, Biden says he would call out rioters for their rioting and condemn it but those are just words. The rioters aren't going to listen to words. What is Biden going to do about the rioting? Answer: nothing. Condemning it will do nothing to stop it. His solution is to let rioters riot and then condemn them for it, while it continues on day after day after day while Biden takes a knee with the peaceful protesters who provide the cover for the rioters.

You're worried about what Biden might do 4 months from now? How's Trump's plan for quelling the violence working out right now?

I want to see if we can just talk about political issues here without saying crap about each other by having separate threads for all Democrats and Republicans. If your political lean is slightly liberal, liberal, very liberal, progressive, or socialist, you can start a discussion about any issue that belongs here. People think such a forum would an "echo chamber" just because they never saw what would actually happen. Let's see if like-minded posters do echo each other a lot of really debate on every political topic when no slightly conservative, conservative, very conservative, or Libertarian members join the discussion.

First topic: COVID-19 and the Economy

That's pretty much covered in the opening statement

Democrats believe health care is a right, diversity is a strength, the economy should work for everyone, and facts and truth matter.

I support that 100%.

You could have just liked my post that mask mandates don't work. What if Trump had issued a national mask mandate on June 18th (same day as California's mask mandate)? Would California's numbers be any different if Trump had done that? Would California's numbers be any different if Biden were president and had issued a national mask mandate? You already answered my questions. A national mask mandate makes you lefties feel better but the results wouldn't be any different than they are.

Why are you stuck on California? Do you think it proves your anti-mask view? It doesn't. There is overwhelming proof they help limit the spread. It's all over the place to see. Don't be so obvious.

I guess my message went right over your head. Mask or no mask, COVID-19 is going to happen more often in densely populated areas than your own state. The reasons are self-explanatory. Democrats are aware of this medically proven fact.

Related, Biden says he would call out rioters for their rioting and condemn it but those are just words. The rioters aren't going to listen to words. What is Biden going to do about the rioting? This topic is totally unrelated to COVID-19. If you ever read the party platform, Joe Biden's unending condemnation of riots would not seem like "just words" anymore. What Democrats support is a permanent end to racial injustice and police brutality in America. If you can't take your red glasses off, get out of my thread and don't come back.

If any Trump supporter can say with a straight face that Joe Biden has no 'manifesto' or policies laid out, they're out of their minds. It's in their faces, they just choose to ignore them because Trump doesn't have squat for policy plans. Nothing.

This is where Joe Biden stands on the pandemic:

Build Back Better: Joe Biden’s Jobs and Economic Recovery Plan for Working Families – Joe Biden for President: Official Campaign Website
That starts with a real strategy to deal with the pandemic. We can’t solve the jobs crisis until we solve the public health crisis. Trump may have forgotten about COVID, but COVID hasn’t forgotten about us. On March 12, April 27, and June 11, Biden laid out a comprehensive strategy to get the pandemic under control and effectively reopen the economy — an approach that will both protect the health and safety of our people and boost economic activity. He will start implementing that plan on Day One.

Biden will also provide further immediate relief to working families, small businesses, and communities. Biden will:

Provide state, local, and tribal governments with the aid they need so educators, firefighters and other essential workers aren’t being laid off.

Extend COVID crisis unemployment insurance to help those who are out of work.

Provide a comeback package for Main Street businesses and entrepreneurs.

And, Biden will immediately put people to work by enlisting them to help fight the pandemic, including through a Public Health Jobs Corps.

This is where Joe Biden stands on the economy:

The Biden plan will mobilize the American people in service of four bold, national efforts to address four great national challenges. As President, Biden will:

Mobilize American manufacturing and innovation to ensure that the future is made in America, and in all of America.

Mobilize American ingenuity to build a modern infrastructure and an equitable, clean energy future.

Mobilize American talent and heart to build a 21st century care-giving and education workforce which will help ease the burden of care for working parents, especially women.

Mobilize across the board to advance racial equity in America.

Building back better means an updated social contract that treats American workers and working families as essential at all times, not just times of crisis –– with higher wages, stronger benefits, and fair and safe workplaces. He will pass universal paid sick days and 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave. And he has a plan to ensure that every American has access to quality, affordable health care, by providing a public option and lowering costs for care and for prescription drugs.

Absolutely

I agree with Biden's entire platform except for gun control. Hope that one doesn't make the cut

He has my vote

Trump has got to go!

Is there a specific part of Joe Biden's gun control plan you are opposed to?

I do not understand his statement that people who commit sexual assault should never own guns, but he is 100 percent correct on semiautomatic and assault rifles. They only belong in the military.

Get out of here. I was extremely clear in my OP no Trump supporters or other Republicans are welcome.

Opinions vary! Now that was.2017. Lots more sold since then

AR-15
The AR-15 is now the most popular sporting rifle in the U.S. According to the National Shooting Sports Foundation, AR-15 style rifles accounted for an estimated 61 percent of all US civilian rifle sales in 2016. The National Rifle Association reports that Americans own more than 15 million AR-15s today.Dec 14, 2017

Actually I was thinking of the AK-15, which has been repeatedly cited in articles and discussions about types of guns that most Americans should not be allowed to buy.

If any Trump supporter can say with a straight face that Joe Biden has no 'manifesto' or policies laid out, they're out of their minds.

Joe Biden has been in government for 47 years, and now, out of the blue, the 48th year is going to make all the difference.

Biden will: Provide state, local, and tribal governments with the aid they need so educators, firefighters and other essential workers aren’t being laid off.

Translation: Biden will move to bail out fiscally incompetent states to make sure those pension checks keep on rollin'. He going to reward progressive states for their atrocious fiscal incompetence, and when you reward bad behavior you get more of it.

And, Biden will immediately put people to work by enlisting them to help fight the pandemic, including through a Public Health Jobs Corps.

Translation: Biden will create make-work jobs, which do nothing but make the country poorer.

This from a guy who's only skill is figuring out how to live off of the taxpayer for 47 years. But he's got "bold" plans for all of us little people.

Mobilize across the board to advance racial equity in America.

Biden is a racist who fought against school integration, which was brought up by his vice president pick during the debates.

Oh, btw, what has Biden been doing over the last 47 years to "advance racial equality"?

Um, nothing. But he did co author a crime bill to help with the mass incarceration of minorities, so he's got that going for him, which is nice.

Wundombo, why did you think about posting in a Democrats-only thread? I was extremely clear its purpose is to keep people like you out of discussions about Democratic party issues.

First topic: COVID-19 and the Economy

COVID-19 really hasn't effected me much outside of the hassle of wearing a mask to do my shopping. The economy, pretty much the same. I'm retired. I'm a bit better off today than four years ago, same as I was a bit better off at the end of Obama, at the end of Bush II, at the end of Bill Clinton, at the end of Bush I and so on.

I really had no big ups or down during any president. I don't know of anyone in my area who got the virus and outside of the first few months, when some were laid off because of the lock down, all that I know of have gone back to work. What disgusts me is the two major parties playing politics with the virus instead of uniting to defeat it. So with your first two topics, I'll take neither major party's side. I guess that makes me a wash.

that does not seem like a platform so much as a list of things they support or oppose, a platform is an agenda, a plan for america, not just political leanings on topics.

The rnc already went with no pplatform as the gop was too divided to have a single platform, the dnc pretty much seems to have taken the same no platform approach but want to pretend they have one.

a plan for the planet --> save the environmemt

Masks --> One candidate ridicules reporters wearing masks and makes them take their masks off.
The other candidate allows reporters to ask questions with their masks on.
It's that simple on masks.
Why should students wear masks when 1,500 people can ignore masks at trump's coronation?

I wear masks when shopping or going places such as doctor's offices. It's a hassle, but I also understand why and wouldn't tell anyone not to wear one. Until we get a handle on this virus, I'll continue to wear mine as will the wife.

One of my buddies who’s a millwright wears a mask versus the shield. Ten hours a day. Got to go back to work after two dozen or so got the COVID the first time around and they had to shut down.

MLBaseball does its best, but no one’s perfect. MMC —> Make Masks Cool — I want one from my high school, college, and pro teams. We’re in this for the long run.

I agree, this now is the new normal. I have my new routine down pat. Now that it's routine, it isn't a big deal anymore. Still, if shopping I can't wait to get back to the car to take the mask off. The last thing I would ever want would be for one of the kids, grand kids or great grand kids to come down with the virus because I didn't wear one.

It may be a hassle, it isn't comfortable, but it's worth it.

I can't get pedicures without a mask because of executive orders, but my hair stylist, who works alone, is fine with me taking it off. My mom now orders most of our groceries online with Shipt, a grocery delivery company. All of my doctor appointments are on Zoom this year instead of the hospital. A mammogram was canceled. (Thank God breast cancer does not run in my family.)

I read a Gainesville Sun article about one lawyer receiving many complaints from people who would be exempt from the mask mandate, but don't want to have the "scarlet letter" or explain their medical conditions to business employees. It makes perfect sense. The people who can go out in public without wearing masks are staying home because of panic and anxiety disorders or breathing problems. Although hearing loss was not mentioned in the GS article, that is an obvious reason to really hate the mask mandate. Do you ever read someone's lips to understand what is being said? Some people do this instinctively or taught themselves how to do it because their hearing is impaired. For these reasons, I hope we will never have a national mask mandate. They should only be recommended, not required, wherever possible.

The big three of SS, Medicare, and Medicaid are certainly viewed differently by the two parties. Older folks are breaking from the party of Reagan, as are military folks.

I’ll duck saying I view COLA for those like us to be low-hanging fruit to cut to help with the budgets. Put a state income tax on those earnings also.

Clinton would be blamed for the economy if she’d handled COVID as trump did. He’s certainly transparent when it comes to handling a vaccine.

Tomorrow makes 7 weeks. Follow the mask-less ‘rallies’ disguised as honoring labor and smearing with insane CTs today. Air Force One is a great equalizer.

I always viewed the economy like the weather. There's really nothing we can do about. At least as in control. If we could control the economy, we'd have nothing but ups and no downs. But presidents always want credit for a good economy, so blaming them is the opposite side of that coin.

Oh, you can tinker around the edges of the economy, but there's no controlling it.

The economy can't be controlled by any private citizens, but everyone who has enough earned money to spend on more than just the cost of living is contributing to it. Only the government can help everyone else. When all Americans have equal rights in all aspects of life, the economy will skyrocket. When COVID-19 is eradicated, the economy will skyrocket. When our education system is fixed, the economy will skyrocket. This should all happen during the next four years, but all we can hope for right now is closing the gaps.

Actually you have your rifles little mixed up

The AK-47, officially known as the Avtomat Kalashnikova (Russian: Автома́т Кала́шникова, tr. Avtomát Kaláshnikova, lit. 'Kalashnikov's automatic device'; also known as the Kalashnikov and AK), is a gas-operated, 7.62×39mm assault rifle, developed in the Soviet Union by Mikhail Kalashnikov.

An AR-15 style rifle is a lightweight semi-automatic rifle based on the ArmaLite AR-15 design, which is itself a scaled-down derivative of Eugene Stoner's AR-10 design. ArmaLite sold the patent and trademarks to Colt's ...

There is an AK15 but it is a new Russian rifle that i am sure is not available in the US
