If Newt Gingrich were running in the Republican primary who would you support

I agree but Newt's negatives are just to high.....I don't believe Hillary can beat the top 3 republicans, Guliani, Thompson, and McCain but she could beat Romney and any of the second tier candidates......

Yes, I would gladly support Newt because I think he would lose to any of the Democrats including Richardson in an election. So I would love Newt to be the nominee. It would further define the GOP for the party that it has become.

However, my support for Romney isn't about that at all and I have told you this a least 100 times. I would consider supporting Romney, despite the fact that his views are almost 180 degrees from mine because I seriously believe that he is the one candidate that might be able to repair the damage that GWB has done to this country.

As you are well aware, GWB's entire history has been about using wedge issues to divide the country. Rather than try to bring the country together, GWB decided it was better for him and the neocons politically to divide the country and using wedge issues and fear. GWB has taken this country to the brink of financial and moral bankruptcy and to the brink of a cultural civil war.
Romney took over a trouble 2002 Olympics and made it a HUGE success. He has shown that he can reach across the aisle during his Governorship.

If Romney gets the nomination, I would consider voting for him...it would depend on who the democratic nominee is...at this point it looks like Hilary but in politics....a lot can change.

I voted for Newt because I think that he is the one possible candidate out there that truly represents the views of the Republican party today. Giuliani is too moderate. McCain has self-imploded and is no longer a serious candidate. Romney is too much of a wild-card and the other candidates are not strong enough to be a serious contender. Choosing Newt would give voters a real choice between candidates on the right and on the left.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich will not run for president in 2008 after determining he could not legally explore a bid and remain as head of his tax-exempt political organization, a spokesman said Saturday.

"Newt is not running," spokesman Rick Tyler said. "It is legally impermissible for him to continue on as chairman of American Solutions (for Winning the Future) and to explore a campaign for president."

Gingrich decided "to continue on raising the challenges America faces and finding solutions to those challenges" as the group's chairman, Tyler said, "rather than pursuing the presidency."

Over the past few months, Gingrich had stoked speculation he might enter the crowded GOP field. He noted that Republicans, especially conservatives, were unhappy with the candidates already in the race.

Yet he also has spoken positively of all the leading contenders, including former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson and Arizona Sen. John McCain.

Just last week, Gingrich said he had given himself a deadline of Oct. 21 to raise $30 million in pledges for a possible White House bid, acknowledging the task was difficult but not impossible.

He abruptly dropped the idea Saturday, apparently unwilling to give up the chairmanship of American Solutions, the political arm of a Gingrich's lucrative empire as an author, pundit and consultant.

American Solutions, a tax-exempt committee he started last October, has paid for Gingrich's travel and has a pollster and fundraiser on staff.
