ICE raids across L.A. spark backlash; Trump officials vow to continue operations

agree and SCOTUS has agreed as well .

Right now I'm more concerned about getting rid of the criminal migrants - those who have warrants or gang members like that Garcia "Maryland dad" who was trafficking in guns/dope and humans ( per indictment)

Biden really ****ed up with his open borders . The clean up is always more difficult then making the mess. But what's going on in CA is more then just protesting, There is an anarchist core that is fanning the flames to everyone's harm..

I think the Trump adm has the right idea of prioritizing the criminal migrants, but if you are here illegally and get picked up..
well you were warned...
Garcia has been convicted of nothing besides being in the country illegally. He’ll get his day in court.
Criminals-the few that there are (turns out the percentage of immigrants here who are criminals is far lower than those here legally) should take priority-but if you’re here illegally you have no business being here.

What you CAN do is inform those being detained of their rights.
These people do have rights.
Now I’m not a supporter of people entering this country illegally. I think all of them should be sent back to wherever it is they came from unless after due process they are granted legal status. If they are found to have entered illegally under false pretenses they should forfeit any future ability to be here legally.
I know a lot of people who did it right. It’s a time consuming and sometimes expensive process. Those entering illegally are basically cutting in line-and no one likes line jumpers.

I used to think the same thing. However, now that I am no longer consuming an endless stream of right-wing propaganda and have taken a more sober view of the situation, deporting 11 to 22 million people, the vast majority of whom are contributing to our nation with their labor, would be so monumentally costly and economically self-destructive that it is inane. I would rather reform our stupid immigration laws.

Well of course! Our immigration laws have to be changed. And I agree that these people are an important part of our labor force-an integral part.
I can’t get past the word “illegal”. You don’t get to cut in line ahead of those who went through the process correctly. If you do you should be deported.

I see. You're free to shit on the country to which you fled. And you're free to fly the flag of the country from which you fled because you really don't love the country to which you fled. You're just using that country to have a better life because you could not have a better life in your native country.
That makes sense, doesn't it?
The current regime in power is not our country.
They are an abomination, as are all their supporters.

Well then don't use that word. It is not required.

There is no reason to destroy our economy, bankrupt ourselves to deport millions if not tens of millions of people and creating a mass humanitarian crisis...because it is somehow unfair that these people did not spend time spending decades in line to enter our country when they came from impoverished countries that were often impoverished as a result of our country's foreign policy (like the Monroe Doctrines, the War on Drugs, etc.).

You're welcome, and probably encouraged, to leave if you can't handle DHS ICE officers working at obeying federal immigration law.

The word is accurate. When you sneak across the border you’re a criminal unless you’re looking for asylum in which case you entered legally. I’m referring to the criminals who sneak in looking for work. While I sympathize with their plight they are here illegally and should face the penalty for it. I’m not going to look the other way and tolerate one form of criminal activity while enforcing another.

Weird

My ancestors fled the “Potato Famine” in Ireland and came to the US.

As did countless other Irish migrants at that time.

And every single year, in March, this country has countless celebrations and waves Irish flags and even dyes rivers green.

Wonder why no one complains about Irish pride…but Mexican pride is a problem.

🤷‍♀️
Are the Irish protesting because they don't like federal immigration laws?

Their families and the agents are doxxed. a common practice from ANTIFA. Only liberals would say it's Gestapo.
ICE has WARRANTS for arrests get it??
if any ICE officer is too much of a coward or a ***** to do their job, they should quit.

We need law enforcement to identify themselves. It protects civilian and officer both, because otherwise anyone can impersonate an unidentifiable officer.

Id rather he just get deported for being MS-13. a habeas hearing and gone.

Be wary of statistics.
States do not record data on the immigration status of who are arrested, convicted or locked up

You're damn right I would.
Illegal aliens are illegal and should not be here illegally.
SImple enough.
Actually Hitler talked about deporting them, he didn’t go past that until after Germany was militarized. He didn’t bring up extermination/annihilation until 1939, and even then many believed he just meant that they would be “deported” out of Europe.

Either way, our government is paying El Salvador to house immigrants in CECOT, a concentration camp where they brag about how the only way out is in a body bag. So we’re already essentially sentencing people to death without a trial. And you are effectively okay with it, since you are defending this despicable system with your factually wrong claims.

I care more about justice and decency. I do not care about consistently enforcing unjust laws. But if this is the be-all-and-end-all issue for you, then you are welcome to vote Republican, Ethel2, since they believe in the exact same things you do in this regard.

Really, you don't know me. My wife is Korean. My daughter married a Mexican gentleman and my grandkids have brown skin. I love them all. So don't assume that I am a racist or supremacist
So none of that was about whether or not they look like you.

Plenty of Nazis happily turned in their Jewish friends and family to the Gestapo.

I’ll vote for whoever I please. I’m a moderate independent. I believe that if you don’t like the laws your option is to work to get them changed. You don’t get to decide which laws you want to obey and which ones you want to ignore.
If you want to be in a situation where there are no laws that you feel apply to you move to a different planet-because every country has laws that have to be obeyed.
You’re sounding like the felon when you think it’s ok to pick and choose which laws are relevant for YOU. I don’t condone his vs. I don’t condone those breaking the law by entering my country illegally.

You don’t get to choose. Maybe he’s a gang member (which, btw, isn’t illegal in and of itself). Maybe he isn’t.
He’ll get his day in court. I’ll accept their decision.

Why? Our President doesn't believe in that. The Supreme Court majority also does not believe that. And I doubt that anyone in Congress except two or three Senators like Bernie Sanders and seven or eight Representatives like AOC believe that.

You mean every country has laws that have to be obeyed by the poor and powerless, which the wealthy and powerful can ignore at their pleasure.
