I almost switched it off because whenever any politician speaks, Democrat or Republican I never learn anything - it's usually always, "Look how bad the other side is" but she didn't do that at all. She spoke articulately about voting rights and the filibuster, and about the insanity of being ruled by an unpopular minority.

Contrast her intelligence level and speaking style with MTG - it's hilarious to see trumpists attack AOC with that clown in GA they elected - the one who thinks CA forest fires are caused by Jewish space lasers!

The embracing of anti-science and anti-intellectualism, along with the propagating of the big lie proves how just ****ed up the current GOP truly is.

Well, we do have to wonder why AOC is such a popular target for the Right, when MTG isn't.

One is white bread, the other is whole wheat.
One says nice things about Trump, the other says nasty things about Trump.
One knows how to dance, the other knows how to shoot a gun
One speaks eloquently, the other mumbles nonsense.

Yup, pretty easy to figure out why AOC is viewed less favorably than MTG by the Right.

Oddly, AOC made no objection when the filibuster was used over 300 times by Senate demorats. Suddenly, when republicants dropped to having only 50 Senate seats, only then AOC decided that the filibuster was bad.

Yeah, funny how that works....

Not kidding? You just finding this out???? Good post otherwise !

And turtleman had no problem ignoring his constitutional duty when denying Obama his SCOTUS and many other court picks while packing federal courts at all levels. If you guys didn't cheat you'd have no strategy at all.

Yep, it’s only considered cheating when the other party does it. ;)

But again, the subject of this thread is how you and your fellow trumpists worship scum. Therefore, sucks to be you!

so AOC is a politician, surprise surprise.

AOC went whackjob last week regarding the infrastructure deal. Something about lack of diversity or some shit.

Fair point but if you want to go down that road, I think there are quite a few politicians well in front of her.

You're right. Sadly, there is no consistency between the rhetoric and record of either party on this issue. It's different, though, to criticize tactics than to criticize policy. The right will decry the corporate influence on the left, for instance, without acknowledging how THEY have enshrined political bribery into our system, against liberal wishes, and gladly serve their own corporate masters.

The repubs know that the Supreme Court can't be filibustered. They use the filibuster in the Senate, as meeded to stop progress, and use the court to lubricate the rails of fascism. Each conservative victory is, predictably, a defeat for humanity. Liberals may win gay marriage but the cons will win a dozen other rulings that make our country less able to control the mechanisms of wealth. It's a poor trade.

So, if the democrats have to use the filibuster to put the brakes on America's descent into fascism, I say the moral victory provided will outweigh the risk of looking hypocritical after the fact.

People who think AOC and MTG are comparable are just uninformed idiots who get little cherry picked snippets from Fox News and assume the characterizations are accurate.

Gee, politicians using a rule they may oppose in principle for a practical end! How dare they?

"I don't know what she said but I'm mad about it!"

Hahaha imagine thinking this is something you should tell other people.
"The puppet master told me to be mad, so I'm mad!!!"

Thanks. I usually go past individual interviews on Sunday morning directly to the panels. Watched the AOC interview based on your tip. Loved her comment about how the filibuster makes an already structurally undemocratic institution like the Senate even less democratic.

Noting (bragging?) that AOC is being just another partisan hack is commendable. ;)

Why does mentioning diversity enrage you?

Oh no, that sounds crazy.

That gal isn't stupid.
She is "green", she is very far Left, but she is sincere and she's pretty damn smart.

AOC is very far left??

Yeah, a bit.
I'm okay with enough of her platform that it's not like it's the end of the world for me but yes, she's pretty far to the Left for the USA at this current time.
Funny thing is, she'd be considered a moderate in some other countries.

I like AOC a lot because she demonstrated that she can work with others even if they're not as far to the Left as she is.
She irritates me from time to time but wow, that's not a dealbreaker.
I could do without any of the other members of The Squad... but AOC, she has a lot going for her.
That's not to denigrate the other gals on The Squad, I just think AOC is really the heart of it and the more effective member of the bunch.
