How The Republican Governor Of Utah Just Shamed His Entire Party

Ironic that you say that....since the only ones being discriminated against are transgender kids.

Maybe you need to look in the mirror when you say that.
Speaking of irony...its probably lost on you that your pathetic emotional appeals in your arguments are embarrassing AND...that while you shit yourself over your pretense of concern over what you admit is the very very 'few', you demonstrate you dont give a **** about the women (or young girls) that will lose opportunities.

The few matter to you...as long as they are the few delusional people that have been convinced by a sick society that they are something they arent.

And as for destruction....

How many people do you see being damaged in that picture?

You're a Trump supporter who believes in a bullshit GQP fantasy about a stolen 2020 election. Therefore, anything you say to me goes in one ear and out the other. You have ZERO credibility.

Go whine to someone who gives a **** what you have to say, like your traitorous racist Jan 6 insurrectionist friends.

Of course they are being violated

Ranked 500th to national championship. Lol

Obvious discrimination
When reading about the 500th ranking, I couldn't help but think the results were so poor because of the hormone therapy and loss of muscle mass; how much higher would be the placement on the men's team with no H.T? Since it was all about a victory in women's competition, would it more fair to sentencing her to permanent-loser status in men's competition?

For school age kids who are basically playing games rather than competing in recreational school sports, adding pecking-order obstacles and making it a legal issue shows the trans kid that the society they are trying to survive in is out to get them, just for being themselves.

Amen. Beautifully stated!

Ms Thomas has never ranked higher thst 500th in freestyle. This was before HRT.

High school is where scholarships are determined

Trans women are welcome to compete with men

But fairness in sport is paramount

Wrong. Not even close to being correct.

My "concession" for something that has NOTHING to do with the new Utah law?

Yeah, whatever. But you go ahead and roll with that if it makes you happy.
Fighting discrimination always makes me happy

Willing to bet 99% of the posters didn’t even know there was D1 women's swimming until this nonsense.

I can only imagine the confusion if you got in a time machine to explain this controversy to someone from 20 years ago.

"The Utah legislature passed a law banning boys from competing in girls' sports."
- "Wait...were boys allowed to compete in girls' sports BEFORE this law?"
"Yeah, on a case by case basis."
- "Why?"
"Because they really wanted to."
- "..."
"But now they can't. What a shame."
- "Seems totally fair to make the boys compete against other boys."
"It's a complicated issue."
-"Why?"
"Because they really want to compete against the girls."
"..."

So did the hormone therapy help Lia's performance in either division? H.R.T. must have had some effect after almost 4 years in any division.

27 records were broken at NCAA Champs this year; Lia did not break a single one; not an American, US Open, NCAA, Meet, or even a pool record. Lia’s time in the Women's 500 free was 4:33.24 - this is not even top 50 fastest swims in the country. Hardly shattering records or 'dominating' the sport.

Trans women have been competing in the women’s Olympic category for the last 18 years, and in many other competitions much longer, but trans women are still vastly underrepresented in competitive sports. In 18 years of inclusive policies for the Olympics, exactly ONE transgender woman compete in the Olympic women’s category, and didn't even Medal.

But somehow fairness in school sports is paramount to singling out and eliminating a person just trying to be themselves?

Yet she won the national championship in her first year competing as a woman but never ranked higher than 500th as a man

Face it. She would not even be in the pool at that event if she did not choose to compete as a female

In the Men's 500-yd freestyle, Thomas was 65th in the country. In the Men's 1650 freestyle, 32nd.
My guess is that she would have still been in pool, especially since swimming is the thing she loves to do most. It is just possible being in the group she identifies with is more important than a trophy to her.

How many competitors do you think they have in the pool? Lol

Sorry...from a sports competition perspective, The Old Soul just explained better than I did why you are wrong.

Well, it helped him get access to the women's league.

This mediocre man was not even a remotely noteworthy swimmer as a man, and is now routinely finishing first in his competitions. Often it isn't even close. "He didn't literally set a world record at this one particular event" is not the great argument that you might think it is.
Trans women have been competing in the women’s Olympic category for the last 18 years, and in many other competitions much longer, but trans women are still vastly underrepresented in competitive sports.
Underrepresented? The correct amount of representation for men participating in women's sports should be zero, so they are infinitely overrepresented.
In 18 years of inclusive policies for the Olympics, exactly ONE transgender woman compete in the Olympic women’s category, and didn't even Medal.
Again, "this male weight-lifter wasn't literally one of the top 3 women in the world" is not the great argument you might think it is. Laurel Hubbard was over a decade older than anyone else in the event; what an amazing coincidence that the dude who set this milestone for male participation in women's weightlifting ALSO set a record for being so much older than his competitors. He shouldn't have even been a part of that event. He stole an Olympic spot from an 18-year-old girl from Nauru.
But somehow fairness in school sports is paramount to singling out and eliminating a person just trying to be themselves?
They can be themselves all they want. If they want to tell their friends they're a girl, that's up to them to negotiate the social boundaries of that. But the rest of society should not be forced to participate in their charade, especially since it violates Title IX.

Actually, Lia Thompson has done more for women's sports in the last few months than anyone has done in the last many years.

It is obvious that there are not many people in your circle not enamored with winning. Sorry to tell you, but this is not about 'fairness' in sports, it's about transphobia. If you are struggling with this, that's perfectly fine; we Americans have all grown up in a racist, transphobic, patriarchal, sexist, misogynist society. And the law in question is primarily about school kids - is this the best way to help them grow into contributing, happy adults?

I agree, but probably not in the way you mean it. Lia Thomas has given a face to this movement, and forced people pushing this agenda to look at this picture and applaud. It forced them to pretend it's not outrageous. Or that the outrageous part is the right half of the picture, where the 3 women are excluding Lia Thomas. So yes, Lia Thomas has done a lot for women's sports, because hopefully a few more pictures like this will mark the end of this idiocy once and for all.

That's all you needed to say. I'm glad that you acknowledge it's unfair, and you just don't care. Much better than a bunch of incoherent rambling about how it somehow *is* fair.

It helps girls grow into contributing, happy adults if they have the same access to sports that boys do. Which is why Title IX exists in the first place.

So sad you see what you do, and find it so good. To thine own self be true.
