Doesn't apply in this case.No true Scottsman eh? Classic.
Personally I found that it was MUCH more effective to "expect" high performance as the norm from subordinates than it was to "demand" even "acceptable" performance from subordinates. I put that down to two factors [1] most people DO want to feel good about themselves and appreciate it when others believe that they can perform well, and [2] most people are pig-headed stubborn if you push them.
As an almost totally irrelevant aside, through a rather strange concatination of circumstances, I once found myself having to teach a group of "low expectation performers" Grade 10 math for a month. The whole class had (essentially) been written off by the school administration and they made it rather clear that they simply didn't want to be there. What did I do? I put it to them that they didn't have any choice about WHAT was being taught but they did have a whole lot of control over how long it was going to take to teach it. That meant that there options were [1] continue to "dog it" and spend the whole month cooped up in the classroom (while not learning anything) or [2] buckle down, learn the required content, and then have free periods for whatever was left of the month. The class managed to master what they had been scheduled to be taught during the month is less than two weeks AND they got the free periods that I had promised them. Needless to say the school administration was NOT amused.
Thanks for the compliment. Now you know why I'm a Republican. Not that I like all of what they do. Not that I like very many Republican politicians. But in this country you only have two choices. The Democratic party left me long before I left it.
The reason that Trump is hated by both Republicans and Democrats is that he is not a member of either.
He recognizes that he needs the support of the Republicans to get things done, but, I feel, realizes that our political party mambers are just like pro wrestlers putting on a show to bump up the gate.
He has done more over the last three years than the two parties combined did this century and: THE BEAT GOES ON.
The longer he is in the White house, the greater the chances are that we might return to sanity in the Washington Swamp.
Since 2000, US Household spending has increased by 11%. US Federal Spending has increased by 238%. what's wrong with this picture?

I hear this one a lot from the right, like a LOT. Accusations of racism right to left might equal or outnumber the reverse.

Your poll confuses left and liberal.
those upscale neighborhoods tend to be republican.
In the US, "The Left" is less racist than "The Right" and that is an option that wasn't offered.
Many leftists are hypocrites. They live in mostly upscale neighborhoods protected by private security companies, they send their children to private schools, and they associate mostly with other Euro Americans. Yet they have the nerve to use the word "racist" against working-class people of ALL ethnicities who do not support BLM or affirmative action or reparations.

Recognizing superiority based on nothing but race is racist. That is good definition.
The motivated actions following, beneficial or hurtful to those recognized, are the product of racism.
Racism is so entrenched in our society and culture that none of us really escapes it even though we try. The right embraces it as a tool to get votes and as a way of giving the rich more dough and power. The left uses it to get awareness and hopefully progress under the idea that all men are created equal. Your poll needs a few more options.
Prove your statement above. Ah, this should be fun. You don't even live in the U.S.
I don't like tarring a political "class" with the same brush one uses for some members who might claim the mantle of that class.
Having said that, I will assert that many members of Left-Leaning political persuasions have been demonstrating what I consider to be patently racist beliefs. Using the old ORIGIONAL definition of racism.
That is, a belief in the innate superiority or inferiority of any group solely on the basis of their skin color (racial heritage).
These days people are trying to re-define racism as "skin color and power." This allows so-called "anti-racists" to assert all sorts of negative attributes to "White" Americans, because of their skin color and majority population status.
Using this argument, then looking at places like South Africa of today, one must perforce argue that South African Black's are "racist" based on how they now treat their "White" minority.
I don't agree with this new ideology, or this new definition. I see many of those who call themselves "Liberals" as actually "neo-Liberal progressive socialists."
On the one hand they are acting with overtly racist responses to the American "white" majority, asserting that simply being "White" automatically classifies one as racist. That in order to combat this "innate racism," White citizens must not only admit this, but actively subdue their "inner racist" by submitting to ALL demands of those they (or their ancestors) have allegedly "harmed."
That is IMO racism of both forms, the old "skin color" kind, but also the newer "racism of low expectations" which portrays anyone non-White, but most especially Black American's as innately inferior and thus incapable of achieving success on their own merits. I REJECT THIS IDEOLOGY TOTALLY!
I am a Black American, and I have made my way in this society by my own efforts. Many of my peers in the Black Community have also done so, regardless of any real or imagined barriers. We don't need handouts. We don't need special privileges. All we need is an equal opportunity to work for our own financial success, to achieve our own educational successes, and our own social advancement.
You can't have a racist liberal. Racism is a form of conservatism. Not all conservatives are racist but all racists are conservative.
I would have to say he wasn't a liberal then.
Sure you can. You are just mixing language without translating. I'd say the klan, patriot prayer, proud boys, many of the militia... are all christian jihadist. And that's if you want to use this modern definition of jihad as being violent instead of a more traditional definition of it meaning more of a personal struggle.Racism is to conservatism what jihad is to islam. You can't have a christian jihadist. you can't have a liberal racist.
No dress codes... everyone was just naked then. This schpiel sounds more like the diary of a curmudgeon hating the passage of time than that of an objective viewer.I taught in an inner city public high school for almost 30 years.
Every five years we adopted new textbooks; every time we would dummy down the reading level. Didn't want to offend anyone. Is having low expectations racist?
Dress codes and behavior standards gradually loosened until there were no standards any longer. And I don't mean just the students. By the time I retired (and went on to be a college professor) teachers had no dress code either. Is a lack of standards racist?
At one time we had an attendance policy that if you missed more than nine days a quarter you automatically failed that class. Not many years before I retired, I was asked to pass a senior (that I had in first hour) I had only seen three times that semester, because he needed my credit in order to graduate. And the rationale was that we needed the graduation rate to be as high as possible. Was it racist of me to refuse? After all, I had called and sent home many written warnings about attendance. But getting to that first hour class can be sooo hard. BTW; admin went over my head and graduated him anyways, so the point was moot.
Many students made A's and B's but couldn't achieve even close to grade level on standardized tests. Quite the disparity. Is grade inflation racist? Or are all standardized tests racist? My Asian and Indian students generally did very well on them....
Is graduating a senior who reads at a third grade level racist? How about if he/she can't add a column of numbers?
All this accomplished under a liberal Democrat school board, a liberal school administration, a liberal teacher's union, in a liberal city.
Is sending kids out into the world so unprepared racist?
It's entirely possible for someone to think and/or claim they are a liberal while harboring some racism, even if they don't realize they are.You can't have a racist liberal. Racism is a form of conservatism. Not all conservatives are racist but all racists are conservative.
