I have at least three dozen air rifles. I have a bunch of Beeman R7 or RWS 24s since I coach kids in another shooting sport and we use the rifles when we get bored. I have a nice air rifle range between my barn and my pond where the soda pop cans face the 177 firing squad

You need to set up a soda bottle top range. That's an excellent way to improve their skills. Aim small, miss small. It works like a charm.

Heh..back in college we had an air rifle range between the living room and dining room where beer cans faced the firing squad. Even though we backstopped things with an old blanket we never did manage to get our deposit back on that place:mrgreen:

we do ritz crackers and since the cans hang by the tab-tab shooting at 15 yards we also shoot at golf tees that are beat up-the target rack is a 8 foot long frame using two saw horses and a 8 foot 2X4 from which the cans hang. we drilled small holes in the 2x4 and the tees sit in them. the back stop is a dung heap, a row of trees and 300 M of cornfield. all the participants are issued industrial safety glasses

we also have an indoor slingshot range-a frame with some heavy ballistic cloth (used to stop arrows behind target matts) and a concrete mixing tray. My father in law used .45 ball bearings in his business and he gave me a couple thousand-ideal slingshot ammo. We have a magnet used by roofers to pick up nails. SO we shoot cans with the slingshots and then use the magnets to pick up the ball bearings.

12 modern shotguns, 4 BP pistols, 5 BP rifles, 1 BP shotgun, 8 rimfire rifles, 3 rimfire pistols, 4 centerfire rifles, 6 centerfire pistols, 3 air rifles – some collectors but mostly shooters

I have an Ohio CCW

The only real advantage to having a CCW in AZ is for reciprocity when traveling but most of my family in NY and they don't seem to have any idea what "reciprocity" means back there.

Gee, and I thought I had a lot of guns.

A Glock 9 mm, 3 12 gauge shotguns and my pride and joy, a Bushmaster ACR (to repel the coming zombie apocalypse, of course).

Yeah, between inheriting them and purchasing/trading for the last 40 years I didn't realize how many I had...you ought to see my fishing rod 'collection'...I think now over 100.

Interesting to me that the poll goes 1-20, 21-50, more than 50... not many people own over 50 guns due to the expense, unless they inherited most of them. :)

Even most of my gun-collecting ex-military buddies who make big bucks don't have 50 guns.... not that there's anything wrong with it.

Most people that own guns have between two and a dozen, from what I've seen. Probably the most common setup is a 22 rifle, a 12 gauge shotgun, a larger-caliber rifle, a smallish pistol and maybe one service-size pistol.

For many families, add another large-caliber rifle (prolly one deer rifle and one "assault" rifle, total), a short-stock 22 rifle (like the "chipmunk") for the kids, and a small auto or snubbie for the Missus, bringing the total to eight or so.

well I have more than 50, many more. I know a few dozen people like that. I was thinking of more than a 100 but I didn't

If you can afford it, mo' power to you... most of us don't have that kind of cash. If you figure anywhere from $100 for a used pump shotgun to $1500 for a tricked out M4 or Kimber, 50 guns would cost more than a lot of blue-collar guys make in a year. I know a few guys that might have 50-100 guns, but typically they inherited at least half of them.

5 to 12 is probably far more common.

I agree, I don't pretend to be in the same boat as most people.

If you buy four a year and you are 50 thats 120

just saying.

In other words, none. Lol.

Why don't you try coming through my window at 2AM and find out. My Rottweiler will announce your arrival on my property and then you can say hello to my little friend.....lol

a Ruger Mark II with a Red Jacket suppressor is a popular "dog pacifier" with some of the entry teams I know of.

the main purpose of a dog is to give you time. that means one inside your house.

I got one of the first MP 40s. I keep it in my car. I prefer the 9mm and have several variations. I have three of the 45s including one heavily customized by David Bowie of Bowie Tactical (turtle endorsed)

No need to refresh anything-if you have that sort of set up more power to you-each one of those grenades requires a 200 dollar tax stamp-along with the rifle as well

Just curious.
I own 4:
  • A cheap 22 rifle for the boys,
  • A S&W .38 snub which was my first pistol and is my usual carry today,
  • A SpringfieldXDm I bought as a toy,
  • A Col 1911 my commander commissioned to commemorate our deployment.

I've been thinking about getting a 9mm. I'd probably go with a Glock, either a 17C or a 19.

not a bad choice, I prefer the SW of the plastic frame guns due to the ergonomics being a bit better and the trigger reset is a bit quicker. The 19 is a great allround pistol, small enough to carry, large enough to comfortably shoot al day. I don't like the C versions (don't own any) because of the night vision destroying flash they tend to emit and a 9mm doesn't kick enough to need such things (at least for me)
