Authorities crack down on copycat threats after Newtown | The Lookout - Yahoo! News

This story got me wondering. If the anti gun nuts won't be happy with whatever comes
out of congress early next year how far will they take it - are these threats from people
pushing an anti gun hysteria over a cliff? I've seen some pretty sick comments from the
anti's including one who told a pro gun writer she hoped her kids die in the next attack
"soon."

Fear is a nasty disease, and can cause weak and/or overly emotional people to lose complete control of rational logic.

Why do these liberals think they can restrict what kind of gun I can buy just because a bunch of school kids got shot and killed?

Yet another reason why a time of national shock and grief and hysteria is NOT the right time to legislate.

Of course, most of those pushing this stuff don't really care, they're just exploiting the tragedy for their own purposes.

Why do gunsels still not get it? We've seen how low they will go in their will to preserve their love.

Why do the Anti's not get it? That criminals don't obey the law and get guns and meth anyway. That gun laws don't stop determined murderers. That various studies have indicated that MANY TIMES more crimes are stopped by privately owned arms than there are murders with them? That 99.98%+ of lawfully owned firearms are NEVER used in a crime?

That virtually ALL of these mass shootings occur in "gun free zones" (which obviously don't work).

That getting rid of guns is a pipe dream, considering there are around 300 million of them in the country now, and banning guns would just disarm the law-abiding and leave them at the mercy of armed criminals?

We've been wondering why anti's are so thick for a long time....

Is anyone trying to legislate confiscation? So far, it looks like they want to ban sales of certain guns and clips. With 300 million guns in circulation, this is all just feel good crap. Anybody who wants guns proably has tons of them by now (I think).

This is the perfect storm for the "anti-gun feel good nanny" set. Everything is in place to pass some useless legislation which will affect nothing.

Just discussing - not taking a position. Am I wrong?

Exactly.

I am hopeful that the GOP in the House will reject most of the proposals we've been hearing about the past few days. Even if it is something that is easy to find a way around, I still don't like the precedent.

You are assuming these people use rational logic. You giving them more credit then I am willing to.

There are some who want that, but they are just like pro life people - often maligned for their view. By
the way its certain guns and "magazines" not "clips." Just FYI a rifle or hand gun magaizne is referred to
as a "clip" in hollywood but not in reality.

You are right; an act taken by this congress and president would likely mean very little - today - but
what about the distant future? What about a 100 years from now after such guns and magazines have
been banned; their manufacturing limited to only the governments army, and not available to those
who WERE free at one time?

Consider this.. We are going to have to put armed security in our schools and maybe in theaters.. and beef up structural security as well.

Is it right to go to all that expense to save lives and fail to curb the proliferation of guns?

That is one answer, maybe it is your answer, but its not mine. I already calculated the cost of a full time law enforcement grade officer
at every school in America is about $15 billion a year. The cost of giving teachers a 5% pay differential for getting trained and
being armed at work - probably $1 billion a year - I'd vote for the later.

I want teachers to teach... Hire ex-military or cops for security.. Arm the principal or the coach ...

The Big Bad Obama's coming for my guns! Oh noes!

Popcorn anyone?

I think you're all full of crap to be perfectly honest.

While the bodies were still warm.

It was NO GUNS SHOULD BE ALLOWED!

And then it was NO FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T TAKE MY GUNS!

You're all pathetic.

Does it matter what you think or want? If there are teachers willing to volunteer for such a duty
we should enable them but no - WE PROHIBIT THEM - so we have created targetable venues
for people to kill without fear of being stopped.

I think it is a product of our slow societal evolution. Our society, perhaps because many misunderstand the 2nd Amendment, have not evolved as a society the way many other industrialized nations have. I am hoping that a good thing will come out of the horrible and needless slaughter of young children, that it will ignite a spark of evolutionary change in our society, even it it is ever so small.

It's not about love. It's about effective legislation.

Go ahead, explain to me how making guns, or restricting guns, will make the average american, let alone school children, safer. Take your time, I've got all night.

Coaches ARE teachers.

And SOME teachers are former military.

Either way, just because one is a teacher, does not mean that that is ALL they are.

I mean, I work in retail, but that sure as **** doesn't mean that all I do, and all I know, is retail. I'm pretty handy in the kitchen, mean with a knife, down right professional with a camera and lights, and not too darn shabby behind the wheel of a sports car, either. AND a decent shot...but only with rifles. I blow chunks at aiming with hand guns.

They will take it as far as their opinion polls tell them they can take it before they lose the Senate.

After all, the retention of partisan political power trumps "doing the right thing" every time.

Says he who supports unthiking, irrational, reactionary restrictions on the right to arms that would have had no effect whatsoever on the Newtown tragedy.

Horsepucky.
You fail to realize that man is a mamillian predator, and that 600 years of "enlightened" thought has not changed, and will not change, that fact one iota.
Those who understand the importance of the retention of the right to arms understand this fact; those that willfully ignore it do not.

some anti gunners including dem party officials have called for the murder of Wayne LaPierre specifically, or NRA members in general. I would like to see them try that. It would then justify killing them which is probably a proper solution for people who go around threatening NRA members for the actions of a deranged killer. Today I renewed my Ohio CCW appointment I then went to the range to practice with a new 22 revolver IN the hour I was there I watched 55 FIRST TIME BUYERS of AR-15s. The range did over 250K in business the last couple days. The owner had figured the public would re=elect the assclown months ago so he ordered tons of AR rifles. Pallets full. Good business move. Plus Obumble and his gun hating toadies are causing thousands upon thousands of more of these rifles to be bought-mostly by those who don't have them. I watched a 78 year old Korean war vet buy a 1300 dollar colt rifle. I asked him if it was his first. He said he still had a garand he bought after leaving the marines and a MI carbine he got through the DCM but he wanted an AR he could leave his grandson in case Obumble banned them before the boy was old enough to use it

we all know that the gun haters are merely using this massacre as an excuse. they wanted to ban our guns all along and they figure the deaths of those poor children and brave teachers will be enough to cloud the minds of the average sheeple.
