How do you feel about popups?

What is your reaction when a political web site uses a popup?

I hate all pop-ups unless I need them to navigate a site. They are a nuisance. I've noticed that some pop-ups (that seem to avoid my blocker) have the "x" out of sight until one expands their screen. Dirty little trick, I say! The one I hate the most is one where they pop up asking for your email address to continue. Fortunately, there's a plethora of information on the internet. I just go on to the next.

I almost always click out of the popup right away.
 
The same with all forums. I delete it and look for ways to prevent them.
 
The one I hate the most is when you go to hit the back button on your browser or close the page and you get this popup that says, "Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page? We have a special offer ... and blah blah blah" and then it doesn't let you do anything until you answer the popup. Makes me MAD! Fortunately, a friend taught me how to just shut off Javascript when that happens and you can simply navigate away, and for me it's never to return if they use those tactics.
 

There's a web site that stores registrations that you can look up to access one of those annoying "gimme your e-mail" web sites. I'm not sure if saying it's name would violate DP spam rules, so I won't post it, but if you want it, just PM me and it's yours.
 
I've won so much stuff! I'm so lucky I can't even claim it all.

i dislike them, and consider them a virus risk. adblock FTW.

if one makes it past adblock and looks suspicious, i usually ctrl / alt / del and shut the browser down that way.

needless to say, i don't buy products advertised in an intrusive and annoying way.
 
I have all popups, ads, and flash ads blocked in firefox and I can specifically select which flash aps to show on any given page. No one has the right to invade my consciousness with their marketing crap, and I will stop them at every turn.
 
Yep - I'm with the bailout crowd - I get a single popup and I'm out of there and likely won't come back.
 
I never see them, they're all blocked. I can't tell you the last time I saw a popup of any kind.

I haven't had a problem with ads or even pop ups on political websites. I use firefox and ad-block plus.
 
My wife loves them, as long as they are mine. :mrgreen:

But, seriously, I voted in favor of popups because everybody else voted against them.

I not only hate pop-ups, I hate the fact that YouTube makes me watch commercials now. I got so used to the idea of "free internet" the last 15 years that I am completely and hopelessly spoiled from here on out. I am grumpier than my Grandpa, and that man split wood by hand until the age of 80, just out of spite.
 
Pop-ups lasting more than 4 hours are a serious medical condition.
 
My wife isn't fond of good morning pop-ups.
 
I have Addblock and Flashblock installed and the most annoying so far are those that pop up at the end of the scroll.
