Hillary Clinton: Many Democrats Are Socialist

Depends on what she means by “socialist”. If socialism just means things like socialized education and healthcare, then yes, a lot of Democrats are socialists. But if we use the actual definition of socialism, then no.

No one says Norway is a socialist paradise, but every time someone suggests something like socialized health care in US, right wingers think that will lead to the USSR or sometime like that, rather then having a rational debate about it.

You see, here's the problem for most "right winger" that are basically just Constitutionalists and Federalists... it's that darned Constitution and the rule of law that get in our way of agreeing with things like that. If you (the holistic you, not actually you) want to do these socialist things on a state level, then have at it. Like Romney Care. A state level program. I have no problem with Massachusetts doing whatever Massachusetts wants to do. On a federal level? No. The Constitution limits the power of the federal government, and reserves ALL other powers and authority to the several states, or the people.

That's why I am most others like me are against socialized healthcare. Add to that, the fact that the US federal government has screwed up every direct healthcare program they have, including the big one - The Veterans Administration.

The Leftist Ideology Democrats are pushing today is the worst thing to ever happen to the human race. It has the body count to prove it.

There no greater service to mankind one can give than trying to defeat it.

Oh puhleez. Right wing fascist dictatorships also kill a lot of people, and we have Trump spewing accolades to Putin, Duterte & Erdogan, current dictators all of whom have major body counts. The right's hypocrisy is boundless.

The oppressive governments to which you refer are totalitarian, and not one progressive I know, or have known in the last 50 years, advocates that kind of government.

The right only offers three things, tax breaks for the super rich, cutting benefits to the poor, and destroying the environment.

There is no greater service to mankind that anyone can do is to reject conservatism and Trump, the GOP is the biggest scam on America and is destroying the environment, our institutions, and the rule of law.

And, I've got bad news for you; there are more of us than there are of you.

Ain't that the truth. Mention medicare for everyone and now we are comrades-in-arms goose-stepping to the Soviet national Anthem.

The right has lost it's mind.

But make rational arguments against it, because during the ACA debates, we saw right wingers claim it was inspired by Nazis and will lead to death panels, that is not a rational view point.

And here's a question, if the US health care system so great, why do other first world countries spend less of their GDP on health care?

This nation is already pretty socialist: Medicare, SS, Interstate HWY system, dams, police and fire departments, FEMA, agricultural subsidies, public education, state colleges, child labor laws, FDIC insurance of bank deposits, antitrust laws, etc, etc...

The last time we had complete unregulated capitalism was the late 19th/early 20th century- the Gilded Age. And it wasn't very pretty. There's a reason we adapted those socialist policies.

In fact, every single developed economy on the planet today is a mixed economy. And it's not because they are stupid.

So I am not sure why this Hillary assertion is such a big deal. We are pretty socialist as it is already. And I assure you you wouldn't like it very much any other way.

I don’t know about that. Medicare is not perfect. But try to take it away from our seniors, and I think you’ll realize it’s more popular than you seem to think.

I doubt even a single percent are, whereas you'll get double digits asking the left if they're Socialist or Communist.

That's because the Right is too stupid to recognize their own racist tendencies.

When Nazi is thrown around, I leave the discussion.

You're not a real libertarian. Left-libertarian is made up. There are only just Libertarians or Right-Libertarians as we call it on this forum.

I would've voted Libertarian if we had a better candidate.

Much better than either Hillary or Trump

lol

Gary Johnson didn't even know much about foreign policy. I would agree if we actually had a chance against Democrats or Republicans.

Trump has no clue about foreign policy, his highest skill is unfiltered tweeting. For all the undesirables, Johnson was actually Governor, which is an executive position, and was well more desirable than either Trump or Clinton.

Well, to be fair: he has a pretty impressive ability to be able to read the anxieties and paranoias of a certain large blue collar segment of our society, and then exploit it very effectively. He is an exceptionally talented demagogue. I think people will be studying what he did in this election many years into the future. He is to demagoguery of the working class what Napoleon was to the battlefield.

We can have a single payer system without a "state run hospital'. Medicare is an example.

Many nations have it, and in teh 48 or so developed countries, the per capita cost to society is about half of what it is to US Citizens.

In my work, I encounter foreigners a lot, and from the nations of Canada, France, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, etc, I have always asked this question:

"Would you trade your nation's health care system for that of the United States?"

The answer has been, thus far, a unanimous 'no'.

And not just 'no', but "HELL NO".

By the way, many of these countries have private health care along side universal, the two can coexist, just as private and public schools co-exist, so no one is going to force you to use socialized medicine, if you don't want it.

Thank God a few rational people showed up!

But it didn't help, because they just came back with more right wing hack ****nuttery in response.
