Fox/WSJ GOP debate thread![W:397:741]

Re: Fox/WSJ GOP debate thread!

Left and Right, no one loves the bank bailouts. It's almost literally the only thing that even the Tea Party and Occupy movements agree on.

I literally laughed out loud at that. Never thought of it that way, but it s true.

Re: Fox/WSJ GOP debate thread!

Oh god these Fox Business hosts are actually arguing that Fiorina, Carson and Trump aren't doing too bad. Only one of them seems to think it's Rubio.

Trump was more polite, I agree. That looked good for him.

I don't get why they like Carson though -- I think Carson flopped.

Re: Fox/WSJ GOP debate thread! 11/10/15

I think he was not at all bad, but Rubio was a lot better.

Trump told him to shut up and so he did.

I was distracted here or there, but I thought Bush has done wonderfully. He hasn't caught up with Rubio, but I thought he has done masterfully

.... both of us may be engaging in some confirmation bias.... but man, where in the living hell did you see that? Bush did somewhere between "Meh" and "Okay". Better than last times' self-inflicted wounds, but not what he needed at all to prove to his supporters that he could come back from them.

Re: Fox/WSJ GOP debate thread! 11/10/15

Carson always ends a debate night by saying, "I wish I could have gotten more substantive issues on the economy." Just stop, guy. You have been given a few nights already.

Re: Fox/WSJ GOP debate thread!

And I came out thinking Paulson came out looking better than anyone else.

Then again, I hate both the Tea Party and OWS, so what do I know? :P

Re: Fox/WSJ GOP debate thread!

he was trump

but he again noted that he is self funding
can't be bought
[unless you offer the right price]

"Okay, so I gave Assad nukes. But you know what? He came to my fourth wedding".

Re: Fox/WSJ GOP debate thread!

Carson doesn't have the guts to answer the Bank of America question like Cruz did.

Bush's situation is not nearly as bad as the media want to paint it. All he really needs to do is hold on where he is, and then grab off supporters as candidates drops off. He has the money, he has the campaign infrastructure. But, he needs Rubio to screw up.

I doubt that highly.

Re: Fox/WSJ GOP debate thread!

Another nice night for Senator Rubio. Another lackluster one for Gov. Bush relative to what he needed. IMO, following this debate, Bush will likely remain dead in the water. I don't expect much change in the polling for him (5% give or take a few percentage points). The problem for Bush is that the passage of time may be leading to a hardening of support for the others. Rubio may move closer to the top in the post-debate polls. Trump avoided in depth discussion, except when he engaged on the illegal immigration issue. Kasich was aggressive, but probably won't gain much traction.

Cruz made several misstatements. He claimed the Fed started tightening in 2008 Q3. In fact, the Fed had started loosening monetary policy in 2007 Q3. He also claimed that the Affordable Care Act has a Congressional exemption. It doesn't.

Carson post debate interview almost put me to sleep...

Carson is a technician, he doesn't do A or B if he doesn't like them. He looks for answer C, D, and E and chooses from those.

He has the money to drag this out for some time, agreed. Superpac donors can ask for their money back, however, and that pot could shrink.

Jeb needs a GOP willing to settle. The GOP this cycle isn't. He's spent plenty of money, and his needle has moved downward.

Absolutely not. Under normal circumstances, there's only one man who can win the nomination, lose, and regain the nomination again--then win. That was Nixon.

Romney made the right choice.

Technically you are right, though actually is an exemption, Congressional staff had a cow when they realized that Obama care was going to cost them huge. Obama stepped and issued a waiver for the Congress.

GOP debate fact check: Was Marco Rubio right about welders vs. philosophers?
GOP debate fact check: Was Rubio right about welders vs. philosophers? - CBS News

“……………….According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are in fact 849,930 workers in welding or a related category, such as soldering or brazing. Their annual mean wage falls between $36,450 and $40,040.

Meanwhile, the BLS says there are 23,210 postsecondary philosophy and religion teachers (probably the closest one can be to a professional "philosopher"). Their annual mean wage is $71,350.”

Who cares if they get their facts right………no one is going to fact check them…..
And if they do it’s after the debate were to audience is a whole lot smaller than the debate audience…..
So being wrong or for that matter to lie……has little consequence………….Maybe that’s why the biggest liar is at the head of the heap

It seems like Rubio is the heavy favorite at this point. The party insiders like him, and party outsiders can accept him mostly. I do find it interesting that the word was that Bush was going to go after Rubio hard this debate, and Bush never mentioned him. I assume there was a reason.

actually, the donald raised the significant issue of corporate inversion. no other candidate - and not even the moderators - wanted to pursue that topic ... one which was in trump's wheelhouse

Hey, I was perfectly willing to say last go-around that Bush hasn't sold a damn thing about his otherwise compelling message and that's what was going to tank him. That being said, he is also competing against several other candidates-three of whom don't deserve to be there.

Trump: Sucked
Carson: Really sucked
Fiorina: Sucked
Kasich: Tragic performance
Cruz: Meh

Given all of that, yes, I end up valuing Rubio, Bush, and Cruz in that order.
