In just the first three months of this year, more people have been shot in defensive shootings in Philadelphia than in each of the last three entire years.
It is pretty obvious that Rich has lived a sheltered life. His mom probably dove him to school and picked him up every day. If he grew up in my neighborhood, he would know that if you don't stick up for yourself you will become the perpetual victim. Thugs know who they can push around. Thugs also know who they best leave alone.
Thanks to Democrats and their defund and disrespect the police campaign, this country is getting a lot more dangerous. Many good cops are getting out of the business and the quality and number of those remaining is lower. Thousands of hardened gang members are flowing across our southern border as well. There are few jobs for these uneducated slugs, so they will make their living committing crimes. In addition, they have no qualms about using violence. They control the inner-city areas of most of our large cities and are more than willing to kill anyone who opposes them. They live the culture of the gangster. These people are well armed and if you want to protect yourself against them, you better be as well.
People like Rich who live in their white bread worlds have no idea what it is like to live on the other side. I read their stupid rants on all you need is beware of dog sign to scare off criminals. I wonder if people are really dumb enough to buy that. They carry on about all you need is a can of pepper spray to fend off the worst of the worst. I guess they have never read the articles about times when cops empty cans of mace on a perp and it only makes him mad.
The facts are you are thousands of times more likely to be victimized by a home invasion or a mugging than hit by a tornado. Yet the same people who think it is wise to protect yourself against a possible tornado think preparing yourself against an intruder or mugger is stupid.
This is why you have no credibility. You make outlandish claims without any documentation, then go into a childish diatribe when someone calls you on it.
Just instances of what happens when citizens try to fight back...at the cost.
Oh, and the US government's own advice:
What to Do During a Robbery
1. Remain calm and do not resist.
Assure the robber you will cooperate and take no action that may jeopardize your safety. Don’t make any quick or unexpected movements.
2. Follow the robber’s directions, but do not offer more than what they ask for.
Don’t argue. If you have to move or reach into your pockets to give the robber what they want, tell them what you are going to do and why.
3. Make mental notes of the robber’s appearance.
You’ll need to describe the suspect when filing your report. Take note of their features including race, age, height, hair and eye color, clothing, etc. Is there anything unusual about their appearance such as scars or tattoos? If they have a weapon, make note of what it is so you can describe it later. If they come or go in a car, try to note the make and model and license plate number.
4. Notice what the robber does so you can include it in your report.
If there are two accomplices, pay attention to any conversations they have with one another. Do they use each others names or nicknames? Do they mention any locations? Try to remember what they touch during the robbery so that police can check those areas for fingerprints.
5. After the robbery, go immediately to a safe location, then report the crime.
Your personal safety is your top priority. Make sure you feel secure before you call 911 or DPS. If you’re in an isolated area, move to an area with people and ask someone to stay with you while you wait for help. If you opt to remain at the crime scene, try not to touch anything. If there were any witnesses, ask them to remain with you until the officers arrive. If they must leave, write down their name, address and telephone number.

Whoever wrote that probably just made it all up in your mind huh ? Didn't base it on any studies or information
But I tell you what, until someone persuades you otherwise with "cool" studies, be a hero and fight back
Let us all know how it went.

(as the two recent instances I alluded to, show with tragic results)
Are your wallet and watch worth more than your life ?
The point is that "fighting back" is the least preferable option.
And that's not just my opinion, but also that of the US government
But hey, it's a free country, if you're robbed, go ahead and take your chances in a gunfight if you wish.
In an active shooter situation, the criminal is not interested in your wallet - so your best best is to run, and if that is not an option, then to hide.

There are lots of progressive principles that would work to PREVENT violent crime and deal with violent crime without increasing violence.
Since conservatives and extraconservatives (right-libertarians) mostly only believe in economic power and physical power, then of course they think that guns are a good social solution.
