I just wanna see what would really happen :fueltofir
there would be ONE positive outcome
the American public, dealing with the massive calamity that would follow an intentional default of American obligations, would remember which party precipitated such an event
it would end the republican party as a viable entity
that would cause my grand kids to eventually ask "granddaddy, what is a republican?"
every other outcome would be massively negative, however
Unfortunately though, the crazies would just reunite under a new name.
something like teabaggers after Obama was elected?
We can't keep raising it forever.
Proof: Raise it immediately to 100 Trillion and see what THAT does to our credit and economy!

Actually we could. As long as debt increases at a reasonable level, we could deficit spend pretty much forever. That is sustainable. The issue is how much we are deficit spending.
Not as much as you might think. The debt ceiling is basically just a credit limit. Our debt would still be the same.
and immediate spending..."Free houses and cars for everybody!"

So is $4 trillion in 2.5 years a reasonable amount?
Yeah, yeah, you are going to feel so bad when the US and world economy goes into a depression because of your trolling. ITS ALL YOUR FAULT!
Ever think that's what the country may need --- apparently we as a people cannot learn our lesson.
Well apperently NO ONE bothered to learn the lesson convienently until now.
Please do it!
Please!
I'm begging you, I wanna see what would actually happen, and all those Republicans kneel in shame at the disaster predicted.
