Democrats really love their chances 2014 with a long protracted Government shutdown

Re: Democrats really love their chances 2014 with a long protracted Government shutdo

Cruz has given the Dems so much fodder, including today's "yes I'll take my pay and go on vacation". The quotes from anti-Cruz Republican Senators and Representatives will be priceless during the election next year. Present Moment Awareness--Americans will not forget or forgive Repubs wrecking another Christmas economy.

Re: Democrats really love their chances 2014 with a long protracted Government shutdo

You realize the majority of Americans are not fans of the ACA?
Yeah ... about half of those who don't like it want a single payer system. The AHA is a compromise that leaves both the extremes dissatisfied with the law.
You need to read the breakdown of the polls ...not just the raw data.

Re: Democrats really love their chances 2014 with a long protracted Government shutdo

wow you are both fairly delusional and ignorant of history.

first historic trends always fvor two terms of one party, then the other.

second the republicans tried the shutdown in the 90's,and won,and not only won their budget cuts which clinton got credit for, they gained even more support not less.

third id have to find the exact poll i believe its pew poll but not sure,it shown that roughly 2/3rds of americans favored a govt shutdown, and it seemed their reasoning was they believed govt spending was out of control, and that a shutdown would force both sides to negotiate.

LOL nice rewrite of history there. How stupid do you think we are? The Republicans won by shutting down the govt.? Quite the opposite

With a March 4 deadline looming on extending a stopgap spending bill, both Republicans and Democrats are preparing for the possibility of a federal government shutdown. Interestingly, a new poll of political insiders reveals that Republicans overwhelmingly believe that a government shutdown is not in their interest. Democrats, by contrast, believe a government shutdown would benefit their party.
The reason? The great government shutdown of 1995-1996, in which a weakened President Bill Clinton faced off against determined Republicans, led by House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) -- and won. Take a look at the classic New York Daily News cover from that period (above) as evidence of how the Republicans lost control of their message. The Republican Revolution died that day.

John Boehner, the current speaker, was the No. 4 Republican in the House leadership during Gingrich's heyday. By many accounts, the experience of living through that shutdown has deeply affected him. Assuming Boehner can maintain control of his caucus, that alone makes it less likely a shutdown will happen this year.

Not to mention how many Democrats this will bring to the voting booths next year. These bozo's want to bring on the "Romney recession" even though he lost the election. I don't think they could pass a citizenship test either. They don't know what losing at the polls means.

I just cannot figure that guy, Ted Cruz, out..He is supposed to be so intelligent, Harvard and Princeton educated, etc....so now the tea party base thinks he is God and he could maybe even win the Republican Primary, but the rest of America hates his guts and he could never win a General Election, so what the **** is he doing?

Oh I think Repubs know what losing at the polls means. We saw Repubs enacting anti-voting rights acts as soon as the SCOTUS CORRUPTUS ruled. Now, Holder is suing NC. This is why Repubs have tried to oust Holder since he started, voting rights/wrongs

Cruz is running flak for Rank Paul. The primary will be Christie against Paul. I'm praying Castro runs against Cruz, or should I say Speaker Cruz who bragged he would keep his pay as he cut off his staff from normal employer health contributions.

They know they can't win in a fair vote anymore so they are trying to rig the polls like they have gerrymandered the districts. It's a losing battle though. Here in Florida we had minority voters who had to wait 8 hours or more to vote. They waited and they will in 2014 too.

Re: Democrats really love their chances 2014 with a long protracted Government shutdo

And with Florida, Repubs just smirked on TV that it was okay. Scott will tack to the center. I'm not aware of any new anti-voting rights laws in Florida yet, nor whether there will be more and better voting machines in Democratic areas.

I disagree. He is too in love with himself to run flak for Paul, but it could def. land up being Christie and Paul..

Obomba gave his buddies a year extension. All the republicans are doing is holding out for a year for everyone else. Even though the media isn't reporting this important fact, it will come out election time.

I think the "D's" will lose badly.

Sore losers never win. The GOP is toast.

Dream on.
All conventional political wisdom, including all extreme right wing media pundits, are decrying the shut down as political suicide for the GOP.
Allso, once the AHA is fully implemented Americans will very quickly grow to love the law when they learn how much it saves them. They will not give the GOP the time of day when Tea Baggers try to run against a popular Democratic law.
But yeah Planer ... dream on. I guess it's all you have.

Its simple, if the boob and Dems in congress wanted to avert, truly wanted to avert, a shutdown, they could have worked with the Republicans, made boobamacare fair, fairer that is, for all Americans and delayed it for a year...

The shut down, if reported properly, is on the Dems, who are also a minority folks...and I thought the president said he would listen to the other side, work with the other side... he works more with Assad, Putin and Iran than he does with his fellow Americans...what's up with that?

And he was elected to follow the Constitution, swore to uphold it, we didn't vote in an imperial president to subvert our Constitution, to pick and choose what parts of legislation is to be upheld, which delayed, who to give opt outs to [ his friends, dem clientele goups, unions, congress...all the folks who voted for him and saddling the rest of us that didn't with this failed health care system]

He is doing what is in his power to affect what he believes in. Shouldn't all members of congress do that?

Re: Democrats really love their chances 2014 with a long protracted Government shutdo

You realize the majority of Americans are not fans of the ACA?

Depends on how you ask the question. Explain each major provision and then ask them if they approve and suddenly the picture changes dramatically.

No, all members of Congress should not threaten government shutdown to get whatever their current childish tantrum is demanding. Instead, they should try to gather the legislative power to legitimately do what they're trying to do.

So, the usual cherry-picking of polls which suit your agenda. Nothing new.

at this point I don't see me voting for any incumbant come election time.

Both parties are to blame for the mess.

Members of congress on opposite sides of the aisle won't even talk to each other. You want them to gather legislative power across the aisle. Fat chance of that.

Did you see the poll from Forbes? Only about one third wish to defund it. About one third wish it to go forward as it is, and one third would rather see a single payer system.( that's more socialistic)
In other words the republions have shut down the government representing about 30% of Americans.
You feel good about that?
A small group of anarchists have infiltrated one chamber of one branch of the US government. They ran on the proposal that they would shut down the US government and they have succeeded. They are gloating about crippling our nation. They had every intention to do this and used the AHA law as an excuse.
Our democratic republic been aggressively attacked from within and you don't even know it.

That is not what Deuce is saying.
When each aspect of the AHA is explained, America likes it. When you call it "Obamacare " they are frightened by the repiglicon lies they are constantly bombarded with

Yes, if I explained each positive aspect of Capitalism, America would like it too. These polls show what the AFA intends to do in all positive light, not what the reality of the Act does. Even a biased site like Forbes posted that the majority of Americans are still skeptical about the act.

"On the other hand, voters are deeply skeptical of the law’s promises to make health care more affordable. 57 percent believe that it will make health care “much more” or “somewhat more” expensive, whereas only 15 percent believe it will make health care “much less” or “somewhat less” expensive. 37 percent believe that the law will negatively affect the “availability of medical benefits,” whereas 23 percent believe it will improve access. 37 percent believe that the law will negatively affect “the quality of the medical care you receive,” whereas 20 percent believe it will improve it."

This with a 26 R / 42 D / 31 I spread!!!

Instead of looking at a biased site with a biased spread of poll participants, let's look at an unbiased site that takes a multitude of surveys over a very long period of time, and averages them out.

RealClearPolitics - Election Other - Repeal of Health Care Law: Favor/Oppose

I see: 51.0 favor repeal, 43.3 oppose repeal.
