In a column published on Thursday, conservative pundit Ann Coulter joked that the killing of politicians’ children should “start with Meghan McCain.”
Earlier this week, Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MA) told MSNBC host Martin Bashir that he was sensitive to the need for more gun control because his nephew had been shot and killed several years ago.
Bashir suggested that members of Congress should not have to experience the death of a family member to understand that gun violence was a problem.
And on Thursday, Coulter decided it would be funny to suggest the daughter of Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) should be the first to die.
“MSNBC’s Martin Bashir suggested that Republican senators need to have a member of their families killed for them to support the Democrats’ gun proposals,” Coulter wrote. “Let’s start with Meghan McCain!”

It seems that Coulter went off the deep in, oh wait, that happened a long time ago.

Ummm... I'm no big fan of Ann Coulter but shouldn't this thread be equally devoted to bashing Martin Bashir?
I think both Coulter's and Bashir's comments are disgusting.
It amazes me still that people think gun-free zones save lives when the opposite is true.

No, you find Coulter's comment disgusting. Clearly you read her characterization of Bashir's comments rather than his actual comments.
Rep. Cummings’ nephew, Christopher Cummings, was shot and killed, and his roommate critically injured, on June 10, 2011, at his off-campus apartment near Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. His murder has not been solved.
“But Congressman,” Bashir said, “is that what needs to happen to move these senators to stop threatening a filibuster? Is that really what needs to happen? That you need to have a member of your family killed in order for you to do what the American people want you to do?”
“I hope not,” Rep. Cummings replied. “I don’t wish this pain on anybody.”
“None of us does,” Martin exclaimed.
Coulter is far out of line. Indefensible. but watch the RW blogosphere defense gear up. This will be funny. Or sad.
I support the 1st Amendment rights of Coulter AND Bashir to say whatever they damn well please.
The sad part, is when Libbos decry condemn Coulter's comments, yet give Bashir a fee pass.
Bashir was not out of line, he has already had a relative killed. He was expressing his personal experience. Coulter was out of line.
I gotta go read it again, maybe you are right.
Nah, I still dont think naming politicians family to be killed is cool.
But I dont like her anyway so I know I am a bit prejudiced.

"out of line", in my opinion would be something illegal, or highly insulting, not just something I don't like.
I still maintain that if Coulter is, "out of line", then Bashir is, too. Let's face it, Bashir is calling for the murder of a Republican politicians loved one.
I've never liked Ann Coulter. She makes me cringe. Mostly because of her looks, though.
So what did Bashir actually say?
Edit: Found it.
“But Congressman,” Bashir said, “is that what needs to happen to move these senators to stop threatening a filibuster? Is that really what needs to happen? That you need to have a member of your family killed in order for you to do what the American people want you to do?”

Martin Bashir Asks If It Takes A Family Member Being Killed For GOP Senators To Care About Gun Violence | Mediaite
Ok so, they're hoping it doesn't take killing family members of Republicans to get those pesky Republicans to start thinking right but, I guess, if has to go that far, that would be acceptable.
There is a huge, major, and complete difference between condemning what a person says, and trying to suggest they do not have a right to say it. No one is saying Coulter(or Brashir) should not be able to say what they like, but it is entirely in line within system of rights to respond to what they say. Condemning people for what they say is not a 1st amendment violation. Please learn the constitution.
edit: I am bad at quote tags
Well congratulations on having your own definition of "out of line." When you'd like to use the one everyone else uses, let us know.
And no he ****ing wasn't calling for that. You really did just take Coulter's word for it, didn't you!? Dude! Seriously? :lamo
Her personality really, really should make you cringe.
