Costco labels bibles "Fiction"

Seems appropriate to me...

Unless you believe that god actually wrote the Bible, then it is indeed a form of fiction that has noble purpose. This store, not being a bookstore has no theology section, but is kind enough to make Bibles readily available, which is respectful IMHO.

Agreed.

They should file it under bullcrap.

Costco came out with this: NewsMax

What have they been "relabeled" to? Propaganda?

At the very least they should come with a parental advisory sticker.

It is fiction.

Look, I'm tired of people being all PC about this. Tiptoeing around the poor, persecuted Christians. As if they're made of glass and can't take anything that might be construed as negative about their religion.

It's not even negative. Look, Christians: there wasn't a guy who put two of every animal species on a boat during a global flood. The earth wasn't created in six days. The earth isn't flat. This is just reality. It's not an insult to your whole religion for me to say that. And you know what? Every Christian I've ever met is enough of an adult to hear me say that and not fall apart.

I'm rather ambivalent towards the label, but a donkey I happened to be conversing with earlier rebuked the move in the strongest terms possible.

So, Jesus didn't exist?

So, Jesus didn't exist?

There isn't a single contemporary eyewitness account of him, no. While there may have been an itinerant Jewish preacher at the time upon whom godhood was posthumously draped, the guy depicted in the Bible simply did not exist.

Yes, a person named Jesus existed. Even the Muslims agree that Jesus existed.

Bingo.

Outraged at the stupidity, perhaps.

My family in California is shocked at this move, and they don't even regularly attend church, because they feel Costco's stupidity in this matter is going to unnecessarily anger and offend many people, whether or not they believe in the Bible. I think this will soon be resolved judging from their comments. eace:

Greetings, apdst. :2wave:

I'm not interested in what people think, I'm interested in what people can prove. Prove it.
