Cindy Sheehan arrested........

Sheenan isn't so much partisan as she is an opportunist. She has recently railed against Clinton and our actions in Baghdad during his term.

She is either feigning objectivity by attacking Clinton now, or she really has no grasp on reality. My vote goes for the latter.

I'm perfectly aware of all of that, so what's your point, exactly?

If a lawenforcement officer asks you something and your are unresponsive you are likely to be taken into custody especially at just such an occasion.

Yeah let's see here....That happened in January of 1999? I was 15 then......and while there are plenty of 15 year olds that are interested in politics, I certainly wasn't one of them.

So what's your point exactly?

BTW the same thing happened during Clinton's impeachment trial and the left sure supported it then and did not cry out about free speech

Funny how we only hear of Cindy's arrest and not the pro war demonstrator.

That's an excellent question. Why didn't the conservative right-wing media report Beverly Young being 'escorted' out of chambers with all the passion and vigor they did With Cindy Sheehan's 'removal and arrest'? The conservative right-wing media reported on Cindy Sheehan BEFORE the speech even started. Beverly Young was an after thought in the day after reports.

I was saying that no Sheehan sympathizers here on the forum has commented

Maybe it's because no one was attacking Beverly Young like the rabid right was attacking Cindy Sheehan.
No one was calling for the arrest and/or censure of the person who gave her a pass.
It was like a school of fish in a feeding frenzy.
No one was saying things like:

"give a nut case like Sheehan a guest pass"
"they should arrest the Senator who gave her the pass"
"She must have made a threat of some kind, which wouldn't surprise me at all"
"she was unfurling a anti war banner"
"Well there you go. She's a kook"
"The Senator should at least be censured for partaking in the scheme"
"She is an obssessed NUT"
"And that alone deserves censure. She should know to take due diligence as to whom she invites to such an occasion"
"IT WAS CINDY ****ING SHEEHAN"

and on and on ad nauseam

Beverly Young's account of her incident:

After reluctantly agreeing, she said, she argued with several officers in an outside hallway.

"They said I was protesting," she said in a telephone interview with the newspaper Tuesday. "I said, 'Read my shirt, it is not a protest.' They said, 'We consider that a protest.' I said, 'Then you are an idiot.'"

But she was not arrested.
Another case of IOKIYAR (It's OK If You're A Republican)...LOL

Sorry, but it's not as big of a spectacle as y'all want to make of it, and quite frankly, I'm surprised that so many of you are still so caught up in what this woman does. She's old news, just let it go already.

Stace, you're so right. It's only the right-wing howlers.

But here's the thing... I have asked repeatedly to be shown that the Congresswoman KNEW Cindy would pull such a stunt. It has yet to be shown. I am agreeing with you the congresswoman showed extreme lack of judgement. However, I'm not sure you can directly say the Congresswoman is 100% responsible, and Cindy bears NO responsiblity, as some in this thread have asserted.

"This afternoon at the People's State of the Union Address in DC [a protest rally] where I was joined by Congresspersons Lynn Woolsey and John Conyers, Ann Wright, Malik Rahim and John Cavanagh. Lynn brought me a ticket to the State of the Union Address. At that time, I was wearing the shirt that said: 2,245 Dead. How many more?"

http://www.michaelmoore.com/mustread/index_594.html

If fact all five of them should be investigated and if necessary censured by the congress for conspiring to disrupt a joint session of the congress on the the special occasion of the SOTU address.

Well, no kidding. I'm aware of that, too...my husband IS a police officer, you know. So I still don't get your point. It's not like I ever made the argument that she shouldn't have been arrested, now did I?

So what's your point exactly?

My point is that you had to go make a big deal about people not making a fuss when it was done to Clinton. I was pointing out that I certainly wasn't going to make a fuss back then because I DIDN'T CARE back then.

THE CHARGES WILL BE DROPPED AGAINST SHEEHAN. POLICE WRONGFULLY ARRESTED HER.

Interesting......

“We screwed up,” a top Capitol Police official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

I suppose they had to drop them against Sheehan if they were going to drop them against that congressmens wife.

Stinger said:
They BOTH bear responsibilty, why is that concept out of the question to you?

And during the censur the Congresswoman can try to explain.

Where do you get the idea anyone is saying that?

The congresswoman is guilty of what SHE did. And either it was an extreme lack or proper judgement and respect or a planned stunt. Either one deserves censure and perhaps banning any more free passes to future events.

Where am I getting that? Look at post #49, by Trajan. He has a few others... comparing giving a guest pass to Cindy to giving a gun to a psycopath. But that was the very argument I wanted to touch on.. why to some is it JUST the Congresswoman's fault, and not the fault of Cindy? Can you understand this yet, Stinger? LOL

It really depends on the mind of the person........Cindy strikes me as a very weak minded person who is easily swayed...........How do you explain her 180?

In her grief, she forgot she ever met with the President to begin with? :rofl

I can't explain it, BUT neither can you, Navy. You ASSume it was due to moveon.org and Michael Moore, but you DON'T know all the facts. You don't know that she didn't search them out. You just know she met with them. So I guess it can just be ASSumed until the cows come home.

And you can provide the necessary proof to back up this assertion, Stinger, that it was intended to disrupt the SOTU? No you can't. thank you, have a nice day.

ROFL... Michael Moore? You quote Michael Moore as a source of news? ROFL... in Farenheit 9/11 he's a wackjob, he's all partisan.. his only intelligence is the wart on his ass? But when he reports a story concerning the Democrats, it's taken as god? OMG i have definitely heard it all now

I could care less if Cindy blogged on Michael Moore's ass. I asked for proof that these 5 conspired to disrupt the State of the Union address. Cindy's blog, shows no proof, now does it?

I am really, really am sick of hearing about her.
I am sorry for her loss but as someone here said her son joined on his own.
He knew the risks and he chose to take the Oath…
Period end of story…
She has the right as we all do to voice our opinions…But damn!

What idolization? Most of the dem/libs in this topic think she is wrong. I was just offering up a excuse for her not-so-abrupt about face.

Sheehan is responsible for her own actions. I try to get that concept across to students every day. I still have parents and kids who tell me "it's not their/my fault!". A lot of the rep/cons in this topic seem to feel the same way.

I'm still wondering if you think I was brainwashed by the rep/con right, or was I responsible for my own actions and beliefs concerning Edwards?

My local news just reported that capital police has issued apologies to both Sheehan and the congressman's wife. Sorry, I can't remember the wife's name.
I'm also sorry that I don't have a link.

There have been rules about dress in the chamber for many, many years, including a ban on slogans of any kind, or advertisements, or cut-off jeans, etc. The news reports that I have read say that she was initially asked to merely cover the slogan or leave. The arrest came after she reportedly became "abusive", though I haven't yet seen a description of exactly how or in what way she became "abusive".

I bet you feel silly now that the Park Police have admitted they violated the law themselves, not her, have dropped all charges and publically apologized to her.

She did not utter a single word inside the chamber by the way. She sat quietly.

As to banning slogans, that is a violation oft he first amendment. They can ban disruptive demonstrations, but sitting silently in a t-shirt is not disruptive.

The Senator should at least be censured for partaking in the scheme. There is a time and place, this was totally disrepectful of the country and our elected officals.

But then more and more in the middle will lean more and more to the right because of these stunts.

These cracks me up, you Bushites cannot even get the basic facts straight.

The Member of the House that gave her a ticket should be censured?
On What grounds?

Because she gave a ticket to someone who was illegally and unjustly arrested for committing no crime? LOL

where did you get that :spin: from?
from the same article posted above...
The officers made a good faith, but mistaken effort to enforce an old unwritten interpretation of the prohibitions about demonstrating in the Capitol," Capitol Police Chief Terrance Gainer said in a statement late Wednesday.

"The policy and procedures were too vague," he added. "The failure to adequately prepare the officers is mine."

that hardly sounds like a violation of the law

It's Cindy Sheehan anyone with half a brain could have told you that it wouldn't go well. Sheehan is insane she met with the Castro of our generation, Hugo Chavez, she called the President the worlds biggest terrorist, etc etc. So like I said catch a clue.

Lets see the only thing that didn't go well is when the Capitol Police falsely arrested her. An action they have now admitted was wrong and have apologized for.

Hugo Chavez is a democratically elected leader of a democratic government. Castro took power in a Coup and rules as a tryant. How are they the same other than their Hispanic background? Castro is a Stalinist Communist, Chavez is a Swedish style Socialist. Let me guess, they are all a bunch of dirty beaners to you right?

Catch a clue you say? Take your own advice.
