Grown men, 20's, 30's maybe older. Fan-boy's of "My Little Pony". I'm not making this up...

A Brony gathering: SoCal men let their

Isn't this just a bit high on the creepy scale, in a wussy-harmless sort of way?

We have one on DP - MKULTRABOY. Or I think so at least.

Edit: And he seems fairly normal, apart from being a fan of MLP.

Frankly, I didn't take it seriously. I mean my avatar is rather comical and meant to be so, as is mega's who usually chooses interesting and outrageous (sometimes) types of avatars, but I never put the two things together. Now that I know there is such a thing and it's not a joke, well... yeah I'm just noticing now. I'm not going to sit here and bash someones...err... passion, but I have to be honest, it's odd. Creepy odd.

I'm not a creeper, I am just a fan of animation (virtually all types) and ponies. That's all.

Nono... "creepy". I also like animation, but I don't obsess over cartoons made for pre-school girls. I can enjoy a Family Guy episode or even a South Park episode just like the next guy. But I don't wear their t-shirts, buy dolls, join forums about them, go to conventions about them.

I don't get it.

As best as I can explain it - it's men in the 20's through 40's, who are passionate and obsessed with a cartoon called "My Little Pony" which is a childrens cartoon targeted towards pre-school girls. These men go to conventions, join forums like DP but to discuss their passion for this cartoon, and collect My Little Pony figurines, t-shirts, etc.

Here's an example:

I would bet my last dollar that 99% of these "men" are liberals.

uhh now that is strange...I think ill pass :)

What does liking a cartoon have anything to do with one's political leanings?

Think before you write.

Don't be so quick..... I wonder if there is a connection between this and politics... whether or not it's a valid connection is arguable.

Get back to me when you have actual evidence.

Look at the pic in the link, they look like little dweeb libs to me.

So, you don't have an actual argument. You can't tell someone's political leanings just by looking at them.

All I do is watch the show. I also don't wear their t-shirts, buy dolls, join forums about them, go to conventions about them. I don't even really talk about it.

Actually I can, lib men as a rule look different than con men, they act different, they move different they talk different and talk about different things, take for instance little girl cartoons instead of guns and cars.

I don't like most Broadway plays, Shakespeare, classical music, opera or fancy foods (caviar, escargot, Pâté) that doesn't mean they're creepy. I find a majority of Pony/Anime lovers usually possess a higher than normal IQ. I know a lib man that wears bright pastels (pink, purple, yellow), wears a pinkie ring and goes to the range in his muscle car with his .45ACP regularly. Can't stereotype people so easily in today's world.

It's possible the muscle car and the 45 are overcompensation for something else this lib guy is hiding. I knew a log truck driver years ago that was always bragging about spending the weekends in a hot tub full of naked women. He was a big barrel chested good looking guy but I always thought there was something odd about him, he wore his Levis awful tight and those cowboy boots seemed to make him walk funny. Then one day I heard he had" gone gay"moved to SF , LOL

It's not hate, it's creepy.

i've not seen the show, but i find the meme pretty funny.

if we were in Japan, this probably wouldn't even be considered noteworthy. i once adminned a board that had a poster who was obsessed with J-pop. he posted pics of J-pop stars on almost every thread, and i discovered there were large message boards devoted to the discussion of J-pop groups and which entertainers were the cutest. these boards were mostly populated by middle aged men.

anyway, if these dudes like the show, more power to them.

My daughter was born in 1979 and her younger brother wasn't born until eight years later. That gave me almost a whole decade of playing with MLPs, Twink Sprite, Strawberry Shortcake, and the Little Mermaid. The Ponies were cool because you can brush their long tails and manes. I was watching MLP shows when I was in my late 20s, whereas the older Bronies were probably watching the originals as kids. The younger ones had to wait for the reruns.

I would be the oldest Brony in existence if I had the time. Unfortunately my hobbies: Driving logging trucks 100 MPH down icy mountain roads, Russian Roulette, and flexing my biceps in front of any mirror that I can find, just doesn't leave enough time for Brony conventions.

I do wish that we had saved my daughter's collection. I can recall at least a dozen MLPs in the corral.

Nobody gives a ****. You essentially play to ignorant stereotypes and sweeping generalizations in 99% of your posts. Oh, btw cpgrad is a conservative.
