For a head of government to visit the White House and not pose for photographers is rare. For a key ally to be left to his own devices while the President withdraws to have dinner in private was, until this week, unheard of. Yet that is how Binyamin Netanyahu was treated by President Obama on Tuesday night, according to Israeli reports on a trip viewed in Jerusalem as a humiliation.
After failing to extract a written promise of concessions on settlements, Mr Obama walked out of his meeting with Mr Netanyahu but invited him to stay at the White House, consult with advisers and “let me know if there is anything new”, a US congressman, who spoke to the Prime Minister, said.
“It was awful,” the congressman said. One Israeli newspaper called the meeting “a hazing in stages”, poisoned by such mistrust that the Israeli delegation eventually left rather than risk being eavesdropped on a White House telephone line. Another said that the Prime Minister had received “the treatment reserved for the President of Equatorial Guinea”.
I read that earlier today... what an incredibly odd way to treat a visiting ally, whether or not you're currently in agreement on an issue.
Does Obama believe this make him appear "strong?"
President Barack Obama's meeting with Netanyahu yesterday turned out to be another Israeli charade. President Obama actually left the meeting for a time to have dinner with First Lady Michelle Obama. It wasn't a slap in the face of the Israeli Prime Minister as some in the Israeli right wing media have suggested. It was more like Obama the diplomat signifying that there was not much diplomacy going on at the meeting. Not much if anything was accomplished. Everything the U.S. wanted was on the table in black and white. Israel basically said we'll think about it. Netanyahu Announced on his plane ride home that Israel had reached the "golden mean" in their land disputes with Palestinians. I don't think so.

I'll give the story more crediblity once I see it in a reputable website/newspaper.
Well what do you know.
You people are laughable. Keep up the BS.
I agree the initial report is dubious with it's lack of verifiable sources, but I disagree that Examiner.com is a reputable website/newspaper. It's a dressed-up blog and the quote you gave is simply opinion by the author.
Binyamin Netanyahu humiliated after Barack Obama 'dumped him for dinner' - Times Online
What a bumbling fool. Insulting one of our closest allies with such idiocy is really unbelievable.
But considering the moronic capitulation to Russia and turning our back on Poland with absolutely no diplomatic gain this kind of adolescent diplomacy really isn't surprising anymore.
Thank you President Obama for once again showing that experience actually does matter.
Israel is a liberal democracy, hence the prime minister is not a dictator and does not control everything.I don't think it was the act of a bumbling fool. It looks like calculated political payback to me. Don't forget, this happened right after Israel announced it was putting more settlers in East Jerusalem, Just as Joe Biden arrived there for a visit.
It was just Obama and Netanyahu having a dick measuring contest. Just silliness.

The timing of the first action was the responsibility of the interior minister.
The timing of this building of 20 apartments(yes 20) is naturally the decision of Jerusalem's municipality.
The actual building in East Jerusalem is not something new, and is something that has existed 46 years before the current administration has even been formed.
The article you're referring to is about the Israeli decision to show a true willingness towards peace and freeze its west bank settlements.True, I remember a couple of weeks ago hearing some American saying this had been going on for all those years and they had apparently been unaware of it.
Never mind this
Israel agrees to freeze settlement construction as gesture to US - Israel News, Ynetnews
The article you're referring to is about the Israeli decision to show a true willingness towards peace and freeze its west bank settlements.
Jerusalem is not considered to be a west bank settlement in Israeli eyes, and when he has announced it, Benjamin Netanyahu has clearly stated that Jerusalem is not included in his plan.
The American reaction at that time, was a small disappointment that Jerusalem is not included and yet a great applause for the act.
Clearly that applause didn't last long.
And by the way, the Golan Heights are also not recognized as Israeli land by the international community, just as East Jerusalem, and yet building in Golan Heights is not being criticized.
All of this technically and obviously results in the conclusion that the new opposition to Israeli building in East Jerusalem is an agenda-sourced one, one that has originated in the halls of the White House, I'm afraid.
According to the Shas minister, continued construction in Jerusalem and the settlement blocs that will remain in Israel's possession in a peace deal will be made possible only in the framework of a US-backed permanent agreement.
But considering the moronic capitulation to Russia and turning our back on Poland with absolutely no diplomatic gain this kind of adolescent diplomacy really isn't surprising anymore.

If that has to do with the missile defense program, why should the American tax payer being paying for a military structure in Europe. The Europeans should start to learn how to defend themselves. Im sick and tired of defending socialists.

But who will defend us when Al-Qaeda sends in its navy and airforce?

Because Poland is an ally who is one of the few countries who actually send troops to actually fight and they have housed terrorists as well.
Plus is keeps an eye on Russia.
All damn good reasons.

Perhaps just another act of cheap politics. Playing to his voters i.e. Rev. Wright who are anti-Israel.
Actually I agree with Dan, this seems more like a response to what happened when Biden was over in Israel. It doesn't excuse it though.
