ORLANDO, Fla. — Snyder County Republican leaders are blasting Mark and Irene Harris, former GOP committee members from Middleburg who took offense to seeing a person of Mexican heritage working at an international pavilion at Epcot that showcases the cuisine and culture of United States.

White Republican delegates to the RNC were offended by a brown person working at Epcot. Not only were the idiots "offended", they were stupid enough to post their bigotry on

No, you can't. But you can process this through your common-sense filter and realize that one couple and their idiot opinions don't signify anything.

The greater question is, what kind of world do these people live in that would make these sick bastards think their attitudes and actions are accepted and supported?

If the display had been African cuisine worked by two white guys, would the same attention have been given to a Nigerian man who wrote a similar blog?

I don't know but if my grandmother had three wheels would she be a tricycle? Maybe, but I don't see how that's relevant either.

White person complains because "white" food isn't represented by white person.
In my question, an African person complains that African food isn't represented by African person.

If you can't see the relevance I can't help you.

Yet another entry in the 'God Awful Analogy' contest.

What I think is funny is that instead of actually addressing the issue people just keep skirting it through childish insults.

Answer the question. Would the faux outrage over the complaint be the same if it were about other races/cultures instead of "white" people?

No, its just those supersensitive hispanics taking umbrage at the notion that they couldn't possibly be americans if they have a brown skin.

Considering that what was represented here was in reference to showcasing the cuisine of the United States, you are saying that this is a white country for your statement to have any actual relevance.

I'm saying that the idiots who complained think American cuisine is largely the result of white people.

Of course, their logic is questionable, and would be largely dependent on what "American" food they were showcasing.

...and the isolated incident du jour train that [scare quotes]"proves Republicans are racist"[/scare quotes] rolls on.

Keep going Obama supporters. You continue to prove that you can't run on Obama's record.

This is not a immigration issue. This amounts to someone bitching because they walked into the back of a Chinese restaurant expecting to see Asians cooking but saw only white people doing the cooking.

That's right. And most people wouldn't be so daft as to be upset about it, much less complain about it, much less post their dumbassedness on a blog for the world to see how bigoted they are, but it happened.

You can do that, although we all realize racism is alive and well among the republican party, if still somewhat hidden.

The problem is the very concept of "white people food." What is that???

Consider the guy had a badge that said Eddie from Mexico not Eddie from USA, I agree. So does my Mexican wife.

Is this not true for all political parties? Seems some promenant Dems in the past had a racist past.

When I first started reading about this I read this thread first and then the article. At first I was thinking..."yeah if everything is portrayed correctly then yeah, this is racist". Come to find out Harris wasn't talking about race but nationality. Now I don't know about all the people around here but if I had visited an event that was designed to show off each nationalities cooking and came across someone working in the section labled <insert nation here> that wore a tag that read "Hi! I'm Eddie! I'm from <insert some other country not a part of that section that person was working in> I'd be pretty offended to. And I don't care what thier race is. If I was from Sweden and saw someone working in my countries section from Germany I'd be just as offended.

There are millions of white Africans...

Does anybody have any idea how much of the American food industry is made up of Latinos? I do. It is ****ing huge.

Here's the bottom line for you: it's a double standard. White people just shouldn't be saying **** like that. We have a cultural history of apartheid here. It's about common sense and manners. So give your own faux outrage a rest.

They don't really need to think their attitudes and actions are accepted and supported. If it's how they are, then who cares? They create their own world, as we all do, and we live with the results of our creation. Some of us have a broad scope, some have a narrow scope. In the end, it doesn't really much matter, except to the individual in the world of his own making.

You are correct. Life is an illusion that we create. Sometimes my frustration overtakes my understanding. Thanks for being the master in this lesson.
