Beauty and the Beast's 'exclusively gay moment'

Next Disney movie: Mickey Mouse will be moving in with Donald Duck, Dewey will be announcing he is undergoing a trans-species operation to become a pelican

Sounds like a plan. Pitch it to Disney and see how it goes.

That is why it hypocrisy. Being gay is not a male gender thing, women do it to. But while men have no problem with women playing with each other they do with men.

Idk if that is fair. It is a sexual attraction thing when 2 women have sex. I mean...how do gay men feel watching a man and woman having sex? Idk. Or 2 fat ugly people? Idk. If it isn't your thing, it isn't your thing. At some point you can't call it hypocrisy when you prefer one over the other lol.

Maybe I just don't get where you were going with that one?

Most people are not libertarians. Why do libertarians have to cram their ideology down our throats?

That was funny. Lol. Props.

I don't understand why kids stories, that would be prepubescent kids, have to have sexual over tones or sexual themes in them at all.

The movie is a love story, to begin with. I don't think having a gay character suddenly makes it a "sexual theme." The story as written never said none of the characters was gay, so it doesn't go against the story line.

It's still just a love story, whether a side character is made to be black, Asian, Hispanic, gay, or whatever. The group of characters would reflect the world as it exists, and one in which some kids can identify with more.

What if one of the seven dwarfs was drawn to be black? Would that change the essence of the story? Just like anything, the first time seems odd, because it's different. Then it's no big deal, and it does reflect the real world more. After all, it was never stated that the seven dwarfs were all white.

Me too... then they are dancing and prancing about with tea pots and candle sticks as friends. Acid tripping screen writers...

I always figured that the singing and dancing tea cups were ghey anyway.

How is it a sexual attraction thing when the same link also tells us that lesbian sex is also the most popular hit among women as well?

And yes, you have already reached the point that it would probably have taken me a few posts to lead henrin to. That his dislike of homosexuality has all the logic and good reasoning of nothing more than "ick "factor.

That is all I need to not want to watch something you know. TV is about entertainment and if I'm grossed out I'm not entertained.

Though to be honest, the whole lesbian thing is annoying too. Not because I'm opposed to two women making out, but because it's always put into the story in the dumbest ass way.

Very true an accurate description of your attitude towards gays, " in the dumbest ass way."

It does seem that this stuff is being inserted into stories where it doesn't really fit and isn't relevant to the story at all.

Could do without that really.

Hey, watch dudes make out and have sex if that is your thing. As for me, I have other things to do that are actually pleasant.

I never got that part of the story. Why would the help be turned into tea cups?

Identify a story in which you think same-sex relationships would "fit."

... there are no Disney films, or television shows, depicting gay sex.

Brokeback Mountain. :)

George Takei's biography. :)

Specifically, a story about someone who is gay, or about gayness in general, or which includes a primary or secondary character who was originally written as gay and whose gayness matters to the storyline.

The OP example, not so much.... they're just inserting it just to be doing it, to be "down with the struggle", even though it doesn't fit the story and was no part of the original storyline.

So a basic admittance to your dislike for homosexuality is based on absolutely nothing more than the emotional argument of an ick factor. Any attempts to put your stance as being reasonable or even intelligent is in fact just a pretense.

It wasn't part of the original story because bigots just had to shove homophobia down everyone's throat!

Because they are movies with adults in them, and that's just part of being an adult.

If parents want to show their children movies devoid of sexual themes, they should focus on cartoons that feature anthropomorphic objects.

Or divorce themselves. You know i think i was about 6 when i figured out what kind of act had to be done for me to exist. These "think of the children" types never give a **** about nor respect the children, but rather just use them as a shield for their own discomfort

It wasn't part of the original story because the woman that wrote it was not writing about a gay relationship. Duh.

Do you have any idea how old the story is and what the story is even about? lol.

Here is a question for you: What was the purpose for the second version of the story? Do you know?

Like I said, if you find it entertaining to watch movies with dudes making out I encourage you to go to as many movies with guys making out in them as you can. As for me, I don't enjoy such things, so I will be skipping them.

He's saying there shouldn't be any gayness allowed in entertainment because it's not what the majority wants, an issue of preference not prejudice, and also that he stopped watching tv (which is a lie i'm sure) because he morally objects to the proliferation of "gay agenda" (even though less than 5% of tv characters are gay).

This is just trying to flood the topic with every objection while trying to present competing views as both reasonable. Especially the first one since i'm quite sure the gay characters in the disney movie are not going at it porn style. Because if not a homophobe i don't see how it bothers a reasonable person so much that gay characters just exist to avoid a movie. How could it be anything but prejudice or rampant selfishness? Good god, talk about someone who should only watch kid's movies, if he can't realize not everything's about him (some kids who see it might have same sex parents, or whatever) and he shouldn't get what he wants ALL the time

right like that's going to be happening in a G rated disney movie where the main characters the romance revolves around are still hetero. Rest assured, your hysteria over things that don't effect you unless you let them has been noted and dismissed

Yes and i'm sure homophobia was so deeply rooted back then that she could not have done otherwise. Even gay authors like oscar wilde had to mask their characters' gay relationships within innuendos and metaphor

But now that's the case, poor you

It won't affect me because I won't be watching the movie. Though to be fair there was no chance I was going to watch it anyway. lol.

Tbere are no sexual themes in Disney. Love themes... sure. Not sex though.

Actually, there's sexual themes in most of the Disney movies.

And incase you've never realized this, unless it's involving family members/ children, love themes are sex themes. Hell, the 'adult' jokes in disney/ pixar movies are what made some of them even borderline tolerable.

So you're suggesting she was gay and wanted to write about a gay relationship? So what is the innuendos and metaphors in the original book that suggest she was gay?
