Barr books Trump’s hotel for $30,000 holiday party

Something vague about an unnamed lobbyist with no official connection to the U.S. government is the "whatabout" you choose to deflect from the Attorney General of the United States advertising that he does not honor his pledge to serve us, not Trump?

I would have waited to jump into the thread until I could think of something more comparable.
You're going to have to reconcile the fact that Trump is your president....lol

Which is exactly why this is highly inappropriate. My employer has an ethics rule that bars purchasing items from their supervisor, to avoid conflict of interest.

Some of us are waiting with bated breath to see whether the A.G. will show up with a lion cut, a French cut, a Dutch cut or what have you. His hair is rather long, you know. ;-)

Experts say private, 200-person party adds to questions about attorney general’s independence from president.

U.S. Attorney General William P. Barr is planning a holiday treat for his boss.

Last month, Barr booked President Trump’s D.C. hotel for a 200-person holiday party in December that is likely to deliver Trump’s business more than $30,000 in revenue.
=========================================================
'Barr signed a contract, a copy of which was obtained by The Washington Post, for a “Family Holiday Party” in the hotel’s Presidential Ballroom Dec. 8. The party will feature a buffet and four-hour open bar for about 200 people,' according to the WAPO.

Not a bad way to brown up your boss.

Barr needs some coaching in optics. In his tenure under this President, he has demonstrated that he has no idea what he's doing when it comes to earning public trust.

Not very smart. I would have considered another venue if I were him.

And what TRULY ****ing hilarious is that you people think that ...1-30k would matter to him and 2-that somehow that money would magically go into his pocket. IF you ARE so ****ing stupid that you believe that...OK. I mean...its sad...but OK.

You seem to be unaware that the owner of a property eventually pockets the rents.

Seems like a basic thing.

What about the Russian Oligarchs co-signing Trump's loans through Deutsche Bank?

Well do we know that for sure? I know that it is implied, but the names are still redacted, right?
Or has there been an update to the story?

Good for you....I don't see what throwing a party at a hotel has to do with anything....Ethics people reviewed it and found no problem....The only reason you have a problem with it is because Trump!

Is there something that says a President can't earn money from their businesses while in office, by law? Just wondering....

$30,000.... Hilarious stuff Trump donated his salary he makes as president. And that is $400,000 per year!........

Hilarious stuff

That's what we've been saying for years. The mob boss can say or do anything and his cultists won't care. Thanks for admitting it.

lol. Not 'cultists', whoever they are, or even supporters. Normal, rational, people are not going to care about this.

Name another convenient and appropriate venue.

Are you kidding??

The W, the Hilton, the Marriott Marquis, the Intercontinental, the Gaylord, the Westin, the Hyatt, the JW, etc etc. All convenient and all more appropriate.

Says you.

I'm guessing someone in Chicago doesn't have the same understanding and appreciation for all the security and other issues that a US Attorney General has to deal with when trying to throw a party for 200 friends.

Why don't you make a case for the kind of ball rooms each of the venues you mentioned has and how they would be better than the one Barr selected?

I’m familiar with Washington and business functions in hotels, I can assure you. I realize this must come as a surprise, since your own existence seems to be confined to your home county.

Every major hotel has the facilities. You think the Trump hotel invented DC cocktail receptions?

And every other hotel is more appropriate, because you’re not paying your boss with your government budget.

LOL

You don't realize much do you?

I've travelled extensively throughout the US for almost 40 years. Been to every state (except Alaska of some reason) many times.

So, kind of blows up that nonsense.

But why should the beautiful Trump International Hotel be off limits for a private party, just because a bunch of liberals might scream at the click bait produced from the announcement Barr plans to use it?

Dang, if I'm writing the check for 200 at a private event like that, and I know the owner, I'm milking it for all it's worth.

Maybe that's why liberal struggle to get ahead. They can't grasp how to make or save a buck.

For someone who’s traveled ‘extensively’, you sure sound like someone who’s so unaware of the world that you don’t realize DC is full of hotels that host cocktail parties.

[emoji849]

Let’s imagine your take on this if Nancy Pelosi owned a competing hotel and steered all Congressional functions over to it- all on the taxpayer dime.

For someone who’s traveled ‘extensively’.

Tourism =/= traveled.

Been around one country =/= traveled.

I believe the difficulty is definition.

Barr just keeps on trashing his former reputation. What a shame.

Even if it did clear review from some "career ethics officials," he really should have known it would become public, and how bad it looks.
