Respectfully, I don't think that's what she's doing. AOC, IMO, loves the attention that the Daily Caller and the Hannity's of the world pay her. Every time a right-wing entity mocks her or otherwise attacks her, Democrats rush to defend her. She's building their personal loyalty and a brand, while tying a base to her emotionally. Take a look at the number of folks on here who think that "Conservatives Are Terrified of AOC".

She's very like Trump, in that way. Not really spun up on what she's talking about, but very, very, good at getting the Right People to attack her, so she can win supporters by playing defense/striking back.

In right-wing-land, that meant that Trump launched rhetorical attacks on those who condescended to him. Being A Fighter and Standing Up is how he figured you gain power, there (and, it is his natural inclination). In left-wing-land, one adopts victim status. Which AOC is doing here.

As such, it would seem that factual criticism of her public policy proposals and statements are appropriate fair game, the fair game that she's whining about. But realistically, such appropriate criticisms are always taken as personal attacks by the left, in that they 'feel' such public policies are 'moral' regardless of what facts would indicate. From my view the correct response needs to be 'Sorry, but public policies need to be tempered by facts, you are entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts'.

She's the Left's newest hero and absolutely deserves the exact same level of respect that President Trump has received.

But realistically, with the media and the 'news' media (AKA DNC political propaganda machine) constantly praising her, promoting her, defending her, giving her softball interviews and favorable exposure, realistically that's not going to ever happen.

That'd be one of the sources for the degradation of political debate over important public policy matters that has left us with the tribalism that we currently have. the other would be the left's standard tactic to call person with an opinion or position that differs from their own as “. . . racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic — you name it.” - deplorables.

I rather doubt that any liberal / progressive / Democrat / leftist (all the same thing really) realizes how much damage and problems this caused to the nation.

But I would still maintain that public policy needs to be data driven, rather than feelings driven. Too bad the liberal / progressive / Democrat / leftist can't manage to wrap their oh so evolved and 'woke' intellects around that rather simple fact.

A few weeks ago, the Leftists on this site were bragging about awesome she is. They threw her out there in the spotlight. This is what happens when they make a bonehead their postergirl for the agenda.

But is she a bonehead? She was smart enough to get elected to Congress. That takes a certain amount of sociopolitical savvy. The fact that she doesn't have a clue about the principles/values this country/government was founded on, no real grasp of history or economics, is blind and/or dishonest about the real consequences of leftist policy, doesn't make her a bonehead. And it is irrelevant to most of the Democrats because she has a lot of company there. That you have the right letter after your name and toe the party line is all that is important to them.

But she is young, pretty, and personable which makes her really good press. And because she is exposing so much of the vacuousness and absurdity of the leftest doctrines, she is the gift that keeps on giving for those of us who prefer a more intellectually honest point of view about things.

We should really encourage her to keep it up.
