AOC was Right About Amazon

I specifically said that whataboutism is all they have left, now that AMZ is going ahead with the plan.
I don't really care all that much if you question my opinion, is that too much to ask?

The amount of AOC hate and discontent was incredible, now her haters don't have a leg to stand on anymore.

No, much smaller Plan: see #9, #16, #21

Nope, been plenty of responses so far and you categorized all objection to whataboutism - just asked you to back up your point - too much to ask?

You understand what an interrogatory statement is, right? Just want a baseline here so we can catch you up

You either don't understand or are pretending not to understand. Either way, I'll elaborate.

There was no "deal." There were vague, unsupported promises. They said they planned on that many jobs if they could get the money. It was an exaggeration to try and convince the government to give them billions in tax breaks.

Job creation is based on need, on demand. Amazon will hire people necessary to complete the work it needs. They're already a massively profitable company. The number of jobs they were truly going to create in NY didn't change.

My god, No one involved except Cowfarts-Cortez has been stupid enough to claimed NYC was going to cut Amazon a check. Even hard-core Leftist like Governor Cuomo and Mayor De'Blasio have called out Cowfarts for this.

For large companies taxes are a business expense. For a move like this they crunch the numbers. If expenses are higher than profits they back out. Reducing the tax business expense by paying $27 billion a year instead of $30 billion was enough to make them stay. There never was a $3 billion except in minus the amount Amazon would pay in taxes.

The HQ Amazon was originally going to build in in NYC is now being opened in Virginia.

Although not confirmed, it suspiciously sounds like this new Amazon facility is a distribution center filled with low paying jobs, instead of the high paying jobs of the HQ.

What? Who said anything about a check?

Yes... that's what I said. Billions in tax breaks.

It was always going to be like this.

I don't hold out much hope for the Trumpers and AOC haters to apologize.

WHATABOUTISM is their only recourse, it seems.

Whataboutism is not a thing, it’s totally fake. When a loser in an argument is presented with an example or fact that exposes them as a total hypocrite, screaming “Whataboutism” is a way to distract and filibuster.

Get Wisconsin on the phone and ask them how their idiotic Republican politicians cost them billions because they were bamboozled by Foxconn.

Sometimes it's better to let these big corporations walk away. NYC economy is booming. It didn't need to give Amazon billions.

Careful! Checkerboard was all on top of whataboutism and the fact that it isnt an argument

I didn't say it wasn't an argument, I said that it's pretty much all the AOC haters have left.
Sorry that offends you so much, but that is not me problemo, senor.

That's just taking the long way around eventually saying, "AOC did save the NYC taxpayers $3 Billion."

Un-****ing-believable.

No, she cost NYC tens of billions and at least a 1000 jobs. see #30

Amazon still came, but she saved her constituents billions.

Ocasio-Cortez takes victory lap after Amazon goes to NYC — even after she helped block $3 billion in subsidies – Raw Story

Yeah, now that is how you are supposed to represent your people, not line your pockets. I really do hope this is the New Democrat!

Amazon wasn't getting subsidies. It was getting tax breaks. I guess Raw Story is as stupid as Acrazio-Cortez and actually believe that New York was literally giving money to Amazon. :lamo

Letting a company keep it's money isn't the same as giving it money. :lamo

“Frankly, if we were willing to give away $3 billion for this deal, we could invest those $3 billion in our district, ourselves, if we wanted to. We could hire out more teachers. We can fix our subways. We can put a lot of people to work for that amount of money if we wanted to.”

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Amazon response shows economic illiteracy | Marc Thiessen

Yes, Acrazio-Cortez is that stupid.

Yes, Acrazio-Cortez is that stupid.

It’s a subsidy. Admit it. And guess what. They came without being given one.

The narrative at the time was that she wasn't responsible for it, just cheering the results - she gets credit now? This is tough to follow sometimes

Probably faux tv or rush was pushing the narrative.

Nope. the original deal was 2,500 with a possible 4,000 jobs. this one they are only promising 1,500 jobs.

Promises from companies job numbers rarely are correct.

Just look at Foxconn in Wi. No where near the numbers they claimed when asking for incentives.

Good point, with a 23% nationwide approval I want her to remain the face of the Democrat Party.

Wow. Way higher than congress in general.

Anyway, she is a freshman rep in a district in NY. Why would her nationwide approval even be considered?

I want her on the news, front and center, and giving interviews and debates 24/7 - never let her off the tv or hint that she doesn't represent big government

Ever watch her try to wing it? Her opponents could never script it better

tRUMPers will flock to her. She says some stuff like tRUMP does. But comes off a tad more intelligent.

Yes, Acrazio-Cortez is that stupid.

You're suggesting tax breaks have no impact on tax revenue. Curious claim.

Sorry that offends you so much, but that is not me problemo, senor.

Doesn't offend me at all, hate to have you think it does - it's actually been entertaining and I appreciate you trying

No, not at all.

She is a walking support statement for her opponents

Probably faux tv or rush was pushing the narrative.

Wouldn't have heard it then, unless pasted here, but when she first cheered the loss of Amazon, it was all stuff about how she wasn't responsible and NYC was better off cuz of gentrification and that making $0 was better than making 27 billion out of 30 (not including income taxes from 25k new jobs) etc etc

Granted, now it is only about 8-12% of the jobs that were going to be there, but she can dance around and claim win all day and I'm fine with it

Unfortunately, it will take about 10 years now to reach the level of the DISCOUNT they were going to get on their taxes and about 100 for what they expected to bring in right away, but hey, they came anyway right?

tRUMPers will flock to her. She says some stuff like tRUMP does. But comes off a tad more intelligent.

I don't know about Trumpers flocking anywhere, but you are right about similarities, but there are a lot of differences too

For everything I disagree with her about, I think AOC is at least TRYING to serve her district and her country first; can't say I feel that way about Trump!

People get confused because I honestly like her a lot even though she is the polar opposite of my politics and I consider her useful as well - But remember, she is a harmless freshman rep from one district who means well and gets tons of camera time and she will never be a real threat to anyone; all the while she is showing how inept big government is and who would be in charge of things if we keep letting it get bigger
