I was hanging out with some European friends, and we started on the topic that American is blatantly stupid. They started saying stuff like we elected Bush twice, we caused all major economic crises, and some other stuff. I managed to rebute all the stuff, until my friends found the following video on youtube. I don't exactly know how to rebute their arguement that American is stupid after watching this video. Take a look.

This is just pathetic. And all these people weren't taught during NCLB, but I bet some of them were. The American Education System lacks incredibly. Maybe I'm wrong to say this, but America could learn somethign from the European Education System.

Then you know as well as I that they suck. I've learnt more on my own then in 6th-9th grades. During that time, I did Algebra not once, not twice, but 4 times. And each and every time I got a near perfect score on the tests, but that wasn't good enough for them. I thankfully got into a nice charter school, and I finished Geometry and Algebra 2 in 1 year. I plan to finish Pre-Cal and Calc in 1 year as well.

Do you know what people around me do? They fail Algebra 4 times, they fail geometry, they fail history, and every other class they take. And they still get pushed through.

I went to public schools and I've done alright for myself academically.

Public Schools are manageable if you are smart......I think recent history has shown America isn't smart...

It's teaching it right after the difference between a historian and a witness.

I was reading a book, where it defined a witness and a historian.

A witness (me in this example) sees things from first hand, and gets the experience of it in the moment. Good for minute(') but important details.

The historian (you in this example) sees things from the broader view, but doesn't get those small details the witness does.

Well, well, well. I'm in the same grade as you, class of 2011. I'm going into my junior year in California, and I think it might be the immigration problem. But then again, there are plenty of 2nd and 3rd generation Mexicans here...

I live in Maryland. I think a big problem is the lack of motivation in schools. For example, my G.P.A. jumped from 3.0 to 3.75 between middle school and high school, I'm not trying to show off I'm just trying to prove that the only reason I tried harder was for colleges. But for those who don't care much about college early on in high school they continue to not put forth much effort. And the incentives school systems try to give like requiring 2.0 gpa's for extra-curricular activities is too low. But there are also many other problems with our education system like NCLB and having bad teachers.

How about with the idea that a great number of people everywhere are stupid, and continue from there. It's not exactly intelligent to suggest that only a large portion of some 270 million people are stupid, but "we" (some vague idea inserted here) are far better.
