How Much More Than Medicare Do Private Insurers Pay? A Review of the Literature | KFF
This brief reviews findings from recent studies that compare Medicare and private health insurance payment rates for both hospital and physician services.www.kff.org
This also occurs with (private) Medicare Advantage plans. Our (WellCare) Medicare Advantage plans pay us each $95/month by taking less in Medicare Part B premiums out of our SS retirement benefits.
Opinions vary
I would say yours is well into the minority.
Will single payer ever come to pass?
It won't as long as Republicans have enough power in congress to filibuster it. Their existence is to protect/increase the wealth of the wealthy. They take the Grover Norquist pledge to never raise taxes. As long as they can keep that white working class conned into voting for them then we will keep the capitalist system we have. Lots of money to be made denying health care to Americans.
OK, then cite a UHC bill which you support.
Canada's pretty diverse.A homogeneous country with the population of NYC.
Socialist institutions work worse the larger they get and the more diverse the population. It's much easier to stomach high taxes for a welfare state in a society where everyone looks and acts the same.
Nope, the opposite appears to be true.

Is There a Penalty for Being Uninsured in 2024?
In most states, there's no longer a penalty for being uninsured. But uninsured residents in a few states will owe a penalty on their state tax return.www.verywellhealth.com

Raise the taxes of those who want a one payer system, but not our senior citizens. Do not burden them with any additional costs for their health care currently called Medicare.
You realize I have been paying for Medicare for 55 years. It's no welfare program.
That's not how taxes work.Did you miss where I wrote that those who are currently on Medicare should not have their taxes raised to front the costs for a one payer system?
That's way to high
Evidently the Canadian healthcare system is not preferred by all Canadians:They should.
Canadians live longer, have a higher standard of living and no one goes bankrupt trying to pay for a heart transplant.
In fact, with our system, and its easy access, heart disease is usually detected early as was my case.
NullOther than zero, what should the number be?
It would not work in the US. It is prohibitively expensive. It would result in healthcare shortage and government rationing. Why?
Highlighting the realities as described in #287.It would not work in the US. It is prohibitively expensive. It would result in healthcare shortage and government rationing.
Not at all. Exxon provides essential commodities. the only commodites Congress produces is bullshit and hot air. Oh, and lies.Suggesting that Exxon is more trustworthy than Congress is the real brain fart.
I have my concerns, but I think it would be better than what we had before Obamacare, and it could be still an improvement over Obamacare.Just a temperature check on how Americans feel about single-payer universal health care.
I have my concerns, but I think it would be better than what we had before Obamacare, and it could be still an improvement over Obamacare.
I think there are other choices I'd like to see us try before moving to single payer, but I wouldn't be too angry if we just jumped right to it.
My main concern with Single payer is that it won't always be run by some nice guy like Bernie Sanders. Eventually whether you like it or not another shit head like DeSantis or Paul Ryan will get power, and they will be in charge of your health care.
Just look at what Republicans are doing to public school systems in states they control... Just look at what Trump has done to the post office...
If you give a right wing shit head a monopoly over health care payments they're going to use it to screw over doctors and nurses to the point.
It's bad enough that teachers in this country have to go on strike to get paid a fair wage, we can't have Doctors doing that.
Personally I have Medicare and have been very happy with it. I think it could easily be expanded to cover all Americans.
The entire rest of the developed world has universal health care. We are the only capitalistic health care in the world. Shows in what we pay and outcomes.
If not Medicare for all then we have successful plans From all around the world we could select parts of. Build that best health care plan in the world that righties have always claimed they will have in two weeks.
Your article is an opinion piece, written in 2010, without statistical evidence, by a conservative for a conservative think tank.Evidently the Canadian healthcare system is not preferred by all Canadians:
