No. The second was intended for Americans to 1) be able to defend themselves against enemies, be they from another country or from down the street, and 2) to give them some form of power to overthrow the government again, should the system fail to work as intended. Personally, I think we're long past the point of our government not working as intended, but that's another debate.

Several of the massacres hyped up on the news lately have been by mentally unstable people (Navy Shipyard, Newtown CT), and nearly all of them occur in a place where firearms are not allowed. Now drug cartels and others bring illegal weapons and drugs over the borders all the time, so what happens if you disarm a law abiding populous and leave the only armed people to be law enforcement and criminals? My wager is that you won't see a change, or things will become worse. The problem is that guns are going to be available to criminals no matter what you do. Gun control laws don't stop these massacres from happening, in fact make it harder for law abiding citizens to aid in the crisis. Imagine if there was another guy in the movie theater of the Batman movie in Colorado. If he chose, he could have shot and killed the initial shooter and potentially ended the shooting spree long before the police would arrive. People who go to schools and government buildings to do the shooting, do it there because they know there's going to be no resistance. No one will be shooting back at them. In fact, I think it would make things safer if EVERY law abiding citizen who can pass the state required tests and permits and background checks should be GIVEN a gun. Make that publicly known and the people doing all these shooting sprees might think twice about their targets, or the act in general.

But..if the OP was sincere...then he and others of his ilk shouldnt wait for the UN to act (thats really kinda funny...do you know the UN's history re 'action'?). They should sign up today as part of a coalition and then they should start in the inner cities. Cant wait to see how that plays out. Post video on youtube...mmmmmkay?

Of course...clamoring for an administration to ignore the Constitution and invite in outside forces to be used against US citizens...that WOULD equate to tyranny...so...very little question as to how THAT would look.

Should that ever be the case, Im certain all the comments people make about how fruitless private ownership of guns with regard to tyranny would be shown to be rather silly. I cannot fathom more than 2-3 state governors tolerating this type of an act. Most state governors would call out their militia and the active and inactive component would rather effectively resolve this problem.

Seriously...people should read the UNs history in Rwanda, Darfur, the Sudan, or anywhere that they have been called on to be a presence.

When the US becomes a genocidal dictatorship OR I become paranoid and delusional, I'll worry.
 
Do people in this topic seriously think that a UN force disarming American people is a plausible event in the future? Please tell that its all a joke, no one is actually worried about this.

Why do they dislike our Constitution, other than the fact that it's a barrier that they prefer to ignore on their way to destroying our way of life? sarcasm intended! ! Our Founders wrote it to prevent exactly what is being attempted! Since our Constitution is several hundreds of years older than the UN, and has served to make us one of the greatest countries in the world, I suggest the UN spend their time ridding the world of the evil dictators who make the lives of their citizens miserable, and leave us the H*** alone! We don't need or want their interference! :2mad:
