Wow, this is shocking, so much for LGBT rights in the military. Despite this, I still believe they should repeal the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, what are your thoughts on this?

Marines Chief Warns Most Are Uncomfortable Serving With Openly Gay Troops - FoxNews.com

The 95% number really seems dishonest to me. I don't see it being that drastically high.

"Concerned about the consequences" is not the same thing as "uncomfortable serving with." In fact, it could mean just the opposite.

If the number is accurate, we should disband the Marine Corps.

Oddly, this implies that they're comfortable serving with someone who is "secretly gay".

This is why I find the survey to be honestly a bit silly.

"I'll serve next to you, as long as I don't know you got a boyfriend back home. The moment I know that about you, then I'll no longer be an effective soldier."

I'm sure the toughest of the tough, fighting at the sharp end so the ordinaries at home don't have to, will really welcome liberals telling them what to think before making them feel like scum for being heretical thought criminals.

And besides, if the homosexuality isn't flaunted, who's to know? After all, I doubt many gays who had snuck into the Marines unknown would walk and talk like pansies.

Still, I wouldn't put it past the weird-beards to 'compromise' by trying to reprogram the Marines before forcing them to make friends with homosexuals and act like them under threat of punishment.

Don't blame gays blame everyone else. Only gays should have rights

They should have the same rights as everyone else, since they pay their taxes and work like everyone else.

But what they don't have are the rights to marry the person they love and serve their nation if they choose to.

There's a difference between "flaunting" and "being forced to hide it for fear of being ****ing discharged."

Nobody's forcing anybody to be friends, where the hell did you get that idea? What they WILL be forced to do is BE PROFESSIONALS and DO THEIR JOBS. If that's too much for them, then they shouldn't be there in the first place.

Just so we are all clear, he's posting an article from a "Newspaper" which has a front cover that looks something like this:

Just FYI, this thread is a hoax. The pentagon just did a huge survey and found that the majority wanted gay people to serve openly in the military. Duh. How could anybody really believe that 95% of our soldiers were bigots? That's ridiculous.

Well, if you don't understand the difference between an anonymous survey done with a huge number of people from all branches of the military and one officer doing an anecdotal "show of hands" measurement in front of a large group of people with probably the strongest peer-pressure effect on the planet... you might get confused.

I don't believe it. I have a good buddy who served at A-Shaw in Viet Nam, as a point man and demolition expert, a Marine. We were together last night. I asked him about that. He's a rough-tough-no-holds-barred guy who's been to hell and back. Marine through and through. He said, "No problem at all. None. Don't care if they're gay. But if one of them ever made a pass at me, I'd beat the livin' cr*p outa' him." I'd bet that pretty much sums up most guys' feelings. Not that I really know....but I'd make a bet.

Their mantra? "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for I am the baddest, meanest mo-fo on the planet earth." "And," he said, "we were." Quite an interesting discussion we had.

So you're agreeing that this thread is a hoax, right?

As long as KKK members are professional and do their jobs, it's all good?

Do gays want to discriminate in the manner the KKK does?

Very well then. Prove the article is false.

I like liberals and their helpmates, they're so charmingly self-righteously hypocritical.

They talk about things like duff links yet scarcely put up any of their own to counter them.

Then they spend half their posts calling me names, yet fail to see why I don't curl up in contrition when they tell me off for 'demonising' the Islamic extremists I go on about.

Well, as I say, rough, tough gays in the Marines aren't going to walk about smelling like lavender and asking for the Pink News at the quartermaster stores are they. You'd have to flaunt it to show it.

Though, as hinted above, if most Marines don't have problems with gays in the army, I'm in no position to change that and nor should anyone else be.

But to impose homosexuality upon them is another can of unpleasant liberal-left worms!

Why? do you know someone else willing to do that job?

Just a warning for people to ignore this derail. If the other thread is any evidence, he'll drag this on forever.

The law states who can marry. So then people should have the right to marry as many people as they want

It appears that the general pulled the 95% figure out of his ass.

You post appears to follow the example. I see the general as a man who care deeply for his soldiers and has done a tremendous amount to help them.
