Wtf?

You seem not to understand that quote was a response to another person that was not you.

You seemed to have been talking about me, I responded in kind.

You seemed to have been talking about me, I responded in kind.
You made it clear what you had been saying.
And I replied that is what you should have said.

Had I been speaking about you and not the concept of dismissing vs doubting, I would have mentioned your name.
I didn't.

Did you really not understand what I said? I didn't stutter. What matters is if the information is correct. Period.
There is no problem with a person doubting. But dismissing is a different matter.

In the absence of real information, there is no real reason to wonder. This would be like wondering if you are a space alien, based solely on the say so of the boy who cried wolf.

No redress it wouldn't be. Unlike your imaginative musings, we have a report that is plausible. There was no reason to doubt it and no reason to dismiss it until further info is made available.

It seemed that you were, but whatever, I wonder where OP is.

Plausible? :lamo

Actually there is a reason to dismiss it. That is that the source has a history of dishonesty. Without reporting from a source that is reliable, this is nothing but rumor at best. Like most rumors, those who want to believe it will, but most will not and probably be right.

No redress, that is wrong.
What matters is if the information is correct/accurate.
It may be a reason to doubt but not to dismiss.

Not to mention that it was a linked to story.

Did Kerry say it or not?
That is the point.

You do not simply dismiss because you do not like the source.
What matters is if the information is accurate.

Had you noticed as the conversation continued there is no problem with doubting until confirmed.

the point is the source is a tweet from a random student and that should always be doubted until confirmed by a reliable source

Really? This iranian student has a history of dishonesty that you know about?

Allah is the Arabic name for God just like Ha'Shem is one of the names of God in Hebrew.
A lot of Israeli Muslims are saying "Baruch Ha'Shem" and a lot of Israeli Jews are saying "Insh'Allah".
It's the same God different language.

It's entirely reprehensible that he invoked God in any language, unless he was being ironic. Other than that, it's just anther example of our daily diet of hate and intolerance. The background chatter of life in rightwing USA.

 do we really think that this is beyond credulity for the administration who thought that NASA's chief purpose was to tell Muslims about how they invented math and science?

..... Go on?

I'd be interested to see you substantiate that claim?

Ah, so you are one of those who believe what you want to hear...

Of course, you are wrong about that claim too. Rush Limbaugh says Barack Obama turned NASA into a 'Muslim outreach department' | PunditFact

 actually I don't listen to Rush. Occasionally (it's been interesting to listen to him go after Grover Norquist) I turn on Glenn Beck on my iHeart Radio app (I don't have a working radio in my car).

Interestingly, given that you (Redress) are fond of source critique, you may want to stop using Politifact which has an unfortunate habit of confusing "False" with "Embarrassing To The Administration".

The money quote from the head of NASA:

..."When I became the NASA administrator, (President Obama) charged me with three things. One, he wanted me to help re-inspire children to want to get into science and math; he wanted me to expand our international relationships; and third, and perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science, math and engineering."...

It was a classic Washington Gaffe - where you accidentally speak the truth about something, not realizing how it's going to look. Result: It became a political embarrassment, the White House walked back the comments, and the head of NASA was put on a short-leash as far as speaking openly was concerned.

That doesn't sound bad at all, the middle east has contributed greatly to math, science, and engineering throughout its history, nothing wrong with helping them appreciate that.

Rush Limbaugh is a psychopath, over-exaggerating and fear mongering.

We don't pay NASA to make Muslims feel goo about themselves. If the President wants to do that, he has a State Department, Voice of America, and USAID.

Regardless (whether or not it is true), this does indeed sound like something this Administration, and Kerry in particular, would say, thinking that they are being culturally sensitive and helping the talks. It's not surprising, though perhaps a bit embarrassing.

You honestly think NASA is spending their budget doing this in any way that would have any impact on there overall budget? Show me the numbers

 the head of NASA said it was one of his top three - perhaps the foremost - priorities given to him by the President. That's not their mission. It doesn't really matter if he spent a dime, a grand, or a billion. It's not his job an it's a messed up prioritization.

But, generally, it's also rather silly, and simply here to point out that this is the kind of silly thing that this administration says.
