That's a good point.

Do you know how much a Canadian who makes a $100K a year has to pay?

.
The amount would be an undefined proportion of their total progressive tax amount.

That is a complicated question given we pay thorough our federal income tax and it is not spelled out directly, just as the amount that goes to our military is not, and then each Province which are the actual administrators of each Province's healthcare system has their own approach. I can only speak for Ontario. In Ontario our direct healthcare insurance premium for an income of 100k ( actually that is the cost up to 200K) is $750 dollars a year. Important to note. Our healthcare has no copays, deductibles or any restrictions on what doctors or specialists we see or how often but it does not include prescriptions under the age of 65 or dental unless as a result of an accident.

The average Canadian pays about $5,789 a year for health care. Only Canadian poor don't pay anything for free health care. The rich pay much, much more than $5,789 per year.

Would you be willing to pay $5,789 per year, about $500 a month so that every man, woman, and child has health care in America? A Canadian like system?

.

My son pays almost double that for his family as a self employed contractor.

Your question is misleading. Every single UHC country in the world pays a fraction what we do per capita, and many rank higher in quality of care.

The actual question is: "Would you like to pay way less than you currently are for healthcare while getting full coverage for life for you, your family, and the rest of your countrymen?"
19% of Americans are on some form of welfare.

61% of Americans paid no income tax in 2020.

Now......please tell the class who gets to pay less?

From the above link:

Something else to consider:

Also from above link:

HOWEVER, to be fair, within the link I supplied there are some positives where the U.S. is more successful than other countries, but when you balance the enormous cost vs the reduced benefits of YOUR health care system vs ours, I will take the Canadian system.
Fine, just don't come here when you need first class medical treatment. Your choice.

what a lame canard, seriously.
at my age I have had every medical condition imaginable and I HAVE NEVER needed U.S. medical care.
you don't like the information posted, fine, deal with it, don't come crying to me that I need first class medical treatment when I have had THAT all my life, without going broke or paying to some insurance company out for profit.
try a genuine argument next time, not a canard.

lol...you really haven't looked around. Have you?

Do you mean in addition to what we pay now (health insurance deduction, Medicare deduction, etc.) or in replacement of what we pay now? If the latter, then yes.

I'm not knocking the Canadian healthcare policy, it's their deal and it seems to work for the most part, but this article came to mind.
That article has been quoted as nauseam and is incredibly misleading. Non medically required procedures are not covered by universal healthcare and as a result we don't have a lot of doctors offering those procedures. Cosmetic surgery is the primary reason Canadians go to the States. From your link.....

"To that end, secondstreet.org noted Statistics Canada estimates that Canadians spent $690 million on health care abroad in 2017, up from $447 million in 2013. (The federal agency wasn’t able to provide a breakdown of patients seeking medically-necessary procedures and those leaving Canada for cosmetic surgery.)"

I have a couple of Uncles from New Brunswick and PEI that came to the states some time ago for hip and knee replacements because the wait was too long in Canada.

Again..... What works for Canada is none of my business.

But, there must be something going on where they had to wait that long and end up spending their money out of pocket in the states.

Yes , I would suggest they were either negligent in identifying their concerns to their doctor or had lousy doctors...likely the former .

Knee and hip issues do not have sudden onset.

A lot of that is due to the last month of life where we try everything we can to extend a person's life. It can easily cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

In countries with social medicine, it's your duty to the community to forgo all that expensive treatment, to save the society money.

.
Hahahah you think doctors in Canada just toss you into a dumpster? LMAO

The amount would be an undefined proportion of their total progressive tax amount.

So you're saying most people in Canada don't even know how much of their pay goes towards health care?

My guess is that's it's a lot.

I just looked it up. It's about 2/3 of our federal taxes.

Stay on topic, we're talking about why America pays over double per capita what other developed countries pay for healthcare while getting a lot less than they do. If you want to change the subject, start your own thread.

**** yeah I would. I've been paying just over $500 a month for a bronze ACA plan.

That's not much more that what employer assisted healthcare costs for a family of 4.

I am on topic,

I have discussed costs and availability.

You cannot account for how your healthcare plan will be paid for ........along with running every other services the feds spend on.

You also do not account for how all of a sudden healthcare will become cheaper.

Healthcare is not a constitutional right. Nobody should need to pay for anyone else's healthcare---or anything else.

Socialist social engineering bullshit is all that is.

Education, road infrastructure, transit services, fire fighting services and hundreds of other government services are not Constitutional rights, primarily because the founders could not have envisioned their necessity.

Constitution rights are irrelevant on this subject.
