This really surprised me. Several of the countries least likely to support this kind of marriage are in Africa, while the Nordic countries seemed most likely to accept it. What might account for this fact?

Would you accept your daughter marrying a black person? Frankly, I thought the percentage of Americans who would accept would be much higher.

Then you havent lived much in the South. Both my father and my husband got asked the same question by their fathers when they were told of the engagement, "is she white?".

Were those recent events? The white population of America was 60% in 2018. That's a far cry from previous decades.

I don’t care who my daughters marry, as long as they marry someone good to them. I hope they find a love as strong as I had. That’s all I want.

I don’t care if he is black, white, purple, and I don’t care if it’s a woman.

I want my girls to be happy and have a good life.

True love is too hard to find, without automatically handicapping it by limiting who you can love, based on outdated societal ideals.

Nordic countries always say "yes" until it happens.

You gave Americans far too much credit for tolerance and acceptance.

It would be so simple if we were all born color blind. It's just a fact that someone that's racist can't see beyond the color of someone's skin. They immediately see a Black or Asian as a threat to themselves for some reason. Animus for other races is inherent in some.

At this point, what difference does it make?

North Africans do not consider their citizens of "darker hue" to be black.

That's particularly ironic since darker pigmentation among them stems from interbreeding with sub-Saharans (obviously girls) in the times of slavery.

In Morocco, just as an example, one finds a "darker hue" the further one goes South, but with the historical stigma of slavery, no self-identification as "black".

I would have expected at least 85% to say they were cool with it. France surprised me too though. The French were accepting of black men marrying white women back in the 1920s, when it was still illegal here.

it seems that nobody is concerned about chinas racism or eastern europe, just America

My son married a very sweet Filipino lady and they given the wife and I two awesome grandsons.

My brother married a very beautiful lady from the Virgin Islands and they have been together for the past 35 years. They spend a couple weeks a with the wife and I every other year, or the wife catches a plane down to St. Thomas.......... as I don't fly.

A good many of my white shipmates were married to Black or Asian ladies, and a good many of my black shipmates were married to Asian and White ladies.

Just seemed natural to me as I grew a little older.

I would not support my daughter marrying a black person not so much on their skin color but their ideology.

also I am okay with people who wnat to marry a black man but also ok with people who dont want to-in the end, its their choice

the french are hot and cold-one time they are the leading export of islamic refugees and the next day they ban burkas on the beach

So, let me get this straight. You are against accepting refugees and for Burkas.

Does your white ideology include smoking meth and marrying your cousin? You know because some white people have that ideology.

Emotionally, I can't add anything to what Superfly said earlier. She hit the nail 100% on the head.

Logically, I'm for as much genetic diversity as possible, and mixed breeds are a lot smarter than pure breeds. I'm kinda partial to having smart grand-kids. In Nazi Germany they used to have breeding farms where they selected the most pure people they cold find... tall, blond, blue, etc... and most of the kids that came out of those camps were borderline idiots. And when you think about it, what's the least diverse genetic match you can find for your daughter? Probably her brother or a cousin or something like that. Who the hell wants that? I figure the further away you can get from that, the better.

also I am okay with people who wnat to marry a black man but also ok with people who dont want to-in the end, its their choice

"I'm okay with racism, it's a choice and everyone has a right to their choice!"

Why announce that. For validation, right?

Do you know what a straw man argument is? Mebe a whataboutism?

My husband and I have been married about 13 years. While not this decade, there is no indication his father, who is still alive and has younger children, changed that view.

And I knew some guys my age and younger around the time I met my husband who said such relations were wrong. The sentiment may not be as widespread, but it is still in some of the newer generations.

Uh, you do realize you just stereotyped the ideology of "a black person" based on skin color. :doh

Seriously. The stupidity of that post is just incredible.

Now this is a prejudice view. Unbelievable.

We live in America is probably the main reason.

Trust me other races are every bit as prejudice as white people. I think it stems from ignorance not any particular race. I am not referring to your grades in school. At least that is what it seems to me from my experiences.
