Why would you want to suppress this?

Wow. I finally found one thing I agree with Obama on.

Judging from the fallout Kanye West is getting after pulling his stunt, I would say even he agrees with Obama.

his apology seemed real on leno, as a matter of fact, it was a pretty awkward moment. he knows he was an idiot.

I'd actually be rather happy with the POTUS calling a jackass a jackass. Most people, I think, would. So I don't get the need to sweep this under.

He acted like a racist, if this would be a white guy taking away an award from a young beyonce because a white girl didnt win, there would be riots.
I think that was the real issue here. He was upset that a white gal won.

Personally, if I were President, I wouldn't care to have this made public just because I think it kinda demeans the Office and, imho, seems unprofessional to be involved in any public way with things so incredibly trivial.
YMMV

It's wrong to speculate about whether or not his motive was based on race. We're not mind readers and even if we were we're not the thought police. OTOH, just imagine the fallout if a white man did the same thing to a teenage black girl.

Ordinarily this would be a very good point but this is about the 'Beer Summit' president, so your post is borderline off-topic.

I have no interest at all in what KW's motives were.

Anything that does not fit the proper image of the Messiah must be expunged!

Quick, I'll hold the rug up, you sweep!

While not very "presidential" I agree with obama, absolute jackass.

A smart colleague emails:

This Kanye West/Terry Moran thing - could it possibly have worked out better for Obama, politically?

He gets to say publicly what most people think about Kanye West.

Specifically, he gets to play against (perceived) type - the liberal black president criticizing a black rapper. Sister Souljah times two, right?

He gets to remain presidential because it was supposed to be a private remark that we weren't supposed to hear.

If I'm Axelrod/Emanuel/Gibbs, I'm trying to figure out how I can get the press to make more such gaffes.

That sounds about right.

I just dislike the shroud of media worship that's been built around him...

I think everyone dislikes that aspect of our culture. I don't think its his fault though.

translation: policies aside, I doubt he's the Messiah or the anti-Christ a lot of people would like to believe.

As for Kanye, he should just get himself a radio show. That way he wouldn't be seen as racist...just seen as a talk radio entertainer.
