Why To Choose A Handgun Over A Long Gun

A rifle could be used to defend your home but the main issues would be maneuvering with it in tight spaces which can be done but doing so takes more skill than with a handgun and over penetration, most rifles are considerably powerful and can over penetrate through walls, you wouldn't want your shot over penetrating and hitting an innocent bystander.

When it comes to a carry gun that you take with you when you leave the house, that's where a handgun beats out a rifle.

First off clearing a house is something I am trained and experienced at, as are many ex and present military and Leo's. Not real worried about over penetration since I live in the country and defending my home also includes defending my property which includes two barns full of goodies along with a shop full of tools, you want try that at 2am with a handgun be my guest.
Oh, I do carry a handgun, but also have a rifle locked in my vehicle (in a secure safe), just in case.

Or if you are defending yourself from the meth cookers you accidently discovered on your property, or pot growers..

Or you are defending yourself from rustlers taking your cattle.

Or the bear that you accidently got between her and her cubs while searching for strays.

The point being that not all defensive situations are on the street, nor a home invasion. Out where I live.. I am more likely to encounter a problem out where a rifle is a better tool.

Because some people, for whatever reason, might be able to get only one gun. For instance, they might be on a limited budget where they can only afford one gun, as I was when I got my first gun.

Your "logic" is stupid. It's not about believing someone is safe. Obviously, a state that allows open carry and is Shall Issue is a not claiming people are unsafe. It's about a system preferring concealed carry and only allowing open carry to and from events.

Mail in your application for a carry permit. They will mail you the permit. There's no excuse for acting like a stupid inbred neck at a market. And there's no need for open carry unless going to or from an activity.

It has nothing to do with safety. It's how Florida has decided to design a system. Florida might be the most pro gun state. And here you want to apologize for counter-productive idiots.

You need to realize something. Every movement has 5% that are counter-productive idiots. Every movement. Even your favorites.

Exactly.. it has nothing to do with safety.. and florida is far from the most pro gun state. I live in a state that has constitutional carry.. where we can carry openly and carry concealed without permit.

I am not apologizing for any counter productive "idiots"... you are excusing your support of a law.. that you clearly have no good reason for.

I see the reality is that the biggest problem for gun owners..is that folks like yourself.. think gun owners are "red neck idiots"... if you see me carrying a gun.. then I must be a red neck idiot.

however, if you never see my firearm.. then suddenly I am not an idiot.. and am a responsible person.

When the reality is that I am the same person..whether I carry concealed or not... like you said.. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SAFETY.

All concealed carry does.. is give anti gun folks the belief that only the crazy, dangerous people carry guns. And it encourages society to have irrational fear of armed people.

ITs very reminiscent when people held stereotypical beliefs regarding homosexual people. As long as homosexuals kept themselves in the closet.. then people could hold onto their prejudice. When the only gay people they "knew"...were the "queens" portrayed on t.v.. or gay folks portrayed as deviants on TV.. people went "whew.. I don't want a gay person teaching my son.. , I wouldn't want a gay person living next to me... I woudln;t want a gay person in my lockerroom.

As more gay people came out of the closet.. more people realized that the teacher of the year.. who was awesome with their son.. was gay. That there neighbor of 30 years was gay.. that the captain of the football team.. was gay.

And acceptance of gay people has improved.

You are advocating that gun owners remain in the closet so as not to "upset the neighbors".. and all it does is further the attitude that gun owners are either criminals or nutbag red necks.
