"I'm a Palin fan, because she irritates just the right people for me."
.......................................................................Dennis Miller

As they look to 2012, the Republicans already have a media superstar in their stable. The one caveat: Palin remains a lightening rod for controversy. So it was that after readers responded to our post reporting the advance success of Rogue, I came across a post by one person who goes by the handle "two-cats." He wrote: "Comic book, soap opera baloney is more like it. I shall not be reading anything by this woman...not interested in anything she has to say (or, rather had written for her) and it infuriates me that a ding-a-ling like her gets so much media attention."

Harsh. But in slamming Palin as an undeserving dolt, Mr. or Mrs. "Cats" (or two-cats, as the case may be) supported Miller's thesis. Palin has this knack for sending the liberal-left into knee-knocking spittle-inducing convulsions. More than any other Republican, Palin stirs passions. Most important, she has the sort of sass that attracts big crowds of true believers willing to open their wallets for her. Can you say that about the likes of Tim Pawlenty or (gasp!) Bobby Jindal? Not with a straight face.

Their standard refrain: "She's just too extreme, she's just too dumb, she's just too snarky - she's just too..too!"

You know, she need never run for office again. her great cvontribution may be simply making Conservatism fashionable again.

Please. Even Steve Schmidt says she's a disaster...

Steve Schmidt: Sarah Palin 'Catastrophic' as 2012 Candidate
Former McCain Staffer Trashes Former Alaska Governor

Steve Schmidt has stated flatly that former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin would be "catastrophic" if nominated as the GOP Presidential candidate in 2012. Steven Schmidt should know something about catastrophes. Steve Schmidt was McCain's campaign strategist.

Palin vs. Schmidt: Bring it on

Palin vs. Schmidt: Bring it on

Sarah Palin may just send Steve Schmidt a great big thank you card for what he said Friday.

Sure, Schmidt was trying to be derogatory when he said her nomination as the GOP's presidential candidate in 2012 would be "catastrophic" for the party.

Pretty soon, Palin's response to Schmidt -- campaign manager for John McCain in 2008 -- will be made public in her memoir, "Going Rogue."

Her book is already a best-seller based on advanced sales, so Schmidt's comments will just draw more attention to it.
Sometimes, people respond to my posts like I'm writing a script for them. Thank you. :)

I heard that Obama was going to fix the econony, secure the Olympics for Chicago and halt the rise of the oceans, too.

We all hear a lot of nonsense, the question is, "do we listen?"

. . ..The awesomeness of such a thing is nearly beyond my ability to appreciate.

Well, yes, obviously. But I wouldn't brag about it. Apply yourself to study, and I'm sure that your comprehension will expand.

I recommend studies of history, basic economics, and a few biographies of notable Conservatives. You should add a few bios of sucessful liberals as well, though the pool is smaller.

For extra credit, you might try runing a small business for a year.

I PRAY Palin tries a presidential bid in 2012. The awesomeness of such a thing is nearly beyond my ability to appreciate.

If there is a gawd, please.... MAKE IT SO, NUMBER ONE!

:rofl

She'll probably quit half way through.

Coming from a guy who can't spell worth a damn, your educational recommendations are worthless and void.

:2wave:

Good lord why do you liberals start all these threads on Palin.

Oh wait...

Someboby told me only liberals start Palin threads?

My parents are hardcore conservatives. I knew it was bad when, at Christmas dinner, my dad turned to me and said, "Wow, that Sarah Palin sure is dumb, isn't she?"

It's not that she's unintelligent, it's that she has ZERO common sense. And when I say ZERO, I really mean some huge number on the negative side of things. She deserves ALL of the credit for Obama's win. Or at least 75.8% of it.

It's not that she's unintelligent, it's that she has ZERO common sense. And when I say ZERO, I really mean some huge number on the negative side of things. She deserves ALL of the credit for Obama's win. Or at least 75.8% of it.

Haha.

Yet at the same time she incited interest in polics from people who, otherwise, didn't care.

Likewise - Obama incited interest from people who, otherwise, didn't care.

So it really ended up being a battle of the dimwits - Obama won. He had a headstart, though.

:roll::roll::roll:

That guy.

On the thread topic, Palin sending the left into convulsions is both a good and a bad thing. It's good in that it provides an opportunity for the country to see just how nasty and the lows to which the left will sink when they feel threatened. It's bad in that a good candidate gets crucified and lied about to the point of being ineffective.

They've seen far worse from the right-wingers in their treatment of Hillary and Obama.

It's bad in that a good candidate gets crucified and lied about to the point of being ineffective.

Name a lie? Seems to me the left has just pointed to her own antics and giggled.

Really? Did the media perpetuate what Tina Fey said on Saturday Night Live as being what Obama or Hillary said? Was there speculation that their children were actually their children's children?

No, it was disgusting how Palin was treated.

Of course it would seem that way to you. As I recall, you were a part of the very bad behavior coming from the left. It's only natural that you would continue to condone what you, yourself, are guilty of.

What are you trying to say? SNL doesn't make fun of all politicians? :doh

Was there speculation that their children were actually their children's children?

Of course that was a ridiculous story. I'll bet I can go to a few right-wing websites right now and find a half-dozen ridiculous stories attacking Obama's family.

So do you feel the same when Hillary gets called a bitch, Nancy Pelosi is refered to as "Nazi" Pelosi, and Barnet Frank Barney "Fag"?? Only a rabid partisan could possibly think the left has anywhere close to the vitriol spewed daily from the rabid right.

I'm still struggling to determine just what it is about Palin that conservatives (some) find so attractive. Not overly bright, not overly politically adept and not overly experienced.

What has she done that has made her as popular as she is?

Palin has this knack for sending the liberal-left into knee-knocking spittle-inducing convulsions.

Heh... I like people thinking this. In truth I think Palin is a blessing for the democratic party. I wouldn't be surprised if you see some of the far left suggesting democrats register as republicans in order to vote for Palin in the primaries (like Rush suggested Republicans do for Hillary.)

You can't understand it if you pick apart the things that YOU (and I and most people on this forum) value = intelligence, forsight, a grasp on reality.

All these things are predominately absent with Palin. . . maybe it wasn't obvioius at first but we all know it, now.

However - there's one understandable reason why she's become the lesbian milf that she is, today, for many republican women:

She's a woman - regardless of people's general views of women in politics, this was a perk for many republican women (WOMEN - NO MEN. In the political-opinion world there might be a *few* men who like her but NOT many). Before Palin was brought onto the scene the Democrats had a lot of women in politics and the republicans had hardly any (that they knew of).
Now, referring to my first point, sure there are women and a lot of good ones, however, none were *known* ... you had to research to find out who they were. Not that googling terms such as "women in politics" or "female republicans" was very difficult - but many women, apparently, just didn't care enough to follow through and read up and FIND someone on their own to love.

So, she was ushered in - this shows that McCain can play the game, he might be old - but there's wisdom with those years.

Now - my beef with her is exactly those same things.
She's a woman ONLY ushered into the limelight by McCain as a campaign tactic. She didn't fight for her own way - if she wasn't so separated from us by the mighty Canada - we never, ever in a million years would have otherwise known about her.
She doesn't exactly exude intelligence and knowledge of the very political spectrum she's in. She's very cut off from reality and the goings-on.

Now - I will admit I loved her at first. I was, also, ecstatic about her being suddenly on the scene ... her acceptance speech was brilliant.

And that was it - it didn't take long, didn't even take Charlie's "gottcha" question for me to realize that, like beauty, her "intelligence" was skin thin - she didn't have any.

Sure, she can come up with some good one-liners. She has a stage-presence which stems from her *needing* to get attention based on her looks and words. However, take away the stage ... the whole stupid "rouge rogue" thing and she's just a flakey tart with whirled peas and like um, something, I don't know.

I hate her now. In fact, I'll say that her being brainlessly tossed into the game is the turning point in my political past - I realized that *just* because someone was a woman in politics didn't mean she belonged there, and McCain reaffirmed my dissent after Obama won and he said that even he wouldn't vote for her in 2012.

On top of that - slowly over the past year she's devolved into just an embarassment yet, however, she'll be in the history books and I only hope that the future is forgiving of this faux pas.

I no longer support "women in politics" based on gender-identity alone. I *use* to think that women in politics were always there because they earned their place. Palin, however, what a charm, she proved me wrong. They have to earn my respect lest they be an embarassment as she is.
