Why does Trump command such support?

He has made such colossal mistakes and even worse demanded such physical support from those who wish to follow him, despite his having vilified all branches of society. In particular he seems to gain considerable female support despite having ridiculed them at every opportunity.

If the American population care about how the rest of the world view them, then they would not support Trump.

Furthermore if America really does advocate democracy, have you considered how the rest of the world view the prospects of democracy if America cannot operate it successfully?
It's really no mystery and there's only one logical answer.

America's working people supported Trump in 16 for two reasons, of which only one is important to this thread's question. The first is that Hillary was a very bad choice by the Dems at the time. The people were looking for a Bernie at the time.

Trump came up because he was a corporate rightist who appeared to be ready to betray his personal ideology to help the working class.

And so even though Trump was so flawed and it should have been obvious that he wouldn't deliver, he was a far better choice than Hillary, who represented the status quo and the American way that had failed the working people for so many years.

So the people took a chance on the corporatist.

That's all in the rearview mirror now but Trump's second term is still being held up as the answer to half of America's working people. They know that Biden is going to fail to deliver and they are almost certainly right about that. Even if Biden had the will, the American way of big money payoffs to politicians, makes it a leadpipe cinch that it will be impossible for Biden.

That makes it of the utmost importance that Biden finds some way to deliver, even if it's a mere pittance for the working American. Trump or some Trump clone is waiting in the wings and ready to pounce on the huge opportunity when Biden fails.

Will Trump or a Trump clone succeed for the working people the second time? Only if the Republican politicians aren't as bought off as the Democrat politicians?

A good useful post. However the Mark Twain quote sums up Trump and his supporters well - a lunatic?

Biden will fail to break the hold of the very wealthy and the American way of greedy capitalism. The system that cheats the people out of a piece of the pie is too strong and powerful.

In 2024, nothing will have changed for the working people and Trump will appeal to them with his promises, in exactly the same way he did in 16.

It's easy to see by just reading this board's comments that Americans didn't learn any lesson yet.

America is doomed for the foreseeable future to swing back and forth between the two political parties, both of which are hogtied by the very wealthy.

Why hasn't American pride overruled the two parties that have caused America's decline on quality of life? Foolish vanity and pride!

There is report out that Trump does indeed plan to run again in 2024.

We could very well have a Biden-Trump II in 2024. It would be a 82 yr old vs a 78 yr old.

People say No Way. But don't underestimate the mental status of many Americans. I saw on tv the other night a woman in Texas claiming the snow was fake and sent there by Bill Gates. I imagine she votes too.

No link to the report?

Biden emphasized Friday that he delivered on his promise to pass sweeping Covid relief and said that he views this legislation as merely the beginning of the administration’s efforts. He also praised the party leaders who were his partners in getting it done.

So maybe the Trump era is finally over.

How in hell can Biden defeat the 'American way' of greedy capitalism?
The $1400 bucks is probably good for just one movie and then the black men are back to dying on the streets in revenge for enjoying the movie and eating too much popcorn.

The GOP are going to be bringing down very harsh punishment on this attempt to challenge their rule!
Get a pocket size gun and stay off the streets!

The Trump era is probably over, the GOP era will move to full fury and anger mode.

CULTS ARE LIKE THAT.

Go back 30-35 years and watch how the media/press/journalists has turned politics into a team sport for the average American. They plant their flags on any given issue and laugh after hours while their followers go loggerheads to the point of hysteria.

There is your answer.

You can deny it, but it's still reality.
DISAGREE-----THE ONLY CULT-LIKE FOLLOWERS I HAVE SEEM ARE TRUMPERS. I AM 70 YEARS OLD AND TRUMP SUPPORTERS ARE CULT-LIKE. YOU CANNOT COMPARE THEM TO OTHERS.......
