Whats on your Thanksgiving menu?

Wow. That is almost exactly what I use in my cabbage and carrot cole slaw. Never thought about grilling with it, though. I'll have to try that.

Judith did this for a church event. It's a pumpkin stuffed with rice/sausage dressing. It served over twenty people.

In case anyone was unaware, the ones they sell for decoration are better cooking pumpkins than the Jack pumpkins everyone uses at Halloween.

You put in mind of a friend called Nancy.....
Oh. You mean Nancy! Well, she's in the aviary studying trees. I shall return with her straight away. You may wait here in the sitting room or you can sit here in the waiting room.
apologies to firesign theatre the further adventures of nick danger, third eye

Smoked turkey on the pellet smoker.
Our mom's dressing (my wife's mom and mine had literally the same recipe - several generations old already)
Buttered, mashed potatos
Turkey gravy
Green bean casserole with french fried onions
Dinner rolls with homemade butter
Candied and sauced cranberries
...and lots of pumpkin pie flavored whipped cream (we like pumpkin pie with our whipped cream :) )

For coffee afterward, here is a homemade version of Bailey's Irish Cream

Irish Cream
1 pint whipping cream
1 can condensed milk
1⁄4 cup chocolate syrup
1 shot amaretto or 1 scant tablespoon almond extract
6 oz cold espresso or 1 Tablespoon instant coffee
1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
1 fifth whiskey (optional)
In the original, you make the condensed milk. It's time-consuming but makes a significant difference in taste. It also allows you to control the amount of caramelization. The shortcut is to use dulce de leche, which is condensed milk with more caramelization. To make it yourself heat a quart of milk and scant half cup of sugar just to a boil. Reduce heat to bare simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until reduced by half, about 40 minutes. Increase time to produce more caramel flavor.

One variation is to use ouzo instead of amaretto.

Nobody wants to eat it but me. My son didnt want it, my housekeepers didnt want it, and the chauffeur preferred to eat his own thing...

Sounds really delicious. Guess you could add more whiskey if all the family time was getting to be too much? 🦃😀

When the kids were home we’d cook 8-9 dishes.

Scaled it way back this year since it’s just the two of us. Just turkey, string bean casserole, sweet potato pie, turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, fresh bread - all home made. Wine.

Some cheese and Prosecco as an appetizer. Afterwards a nice single malt scotch.

We really don’t eat dessert anymore except ice cream once in a while.

Good to hear from you PoS.
Hope you enjoy "your" T-day dinner.

We had ham made with my father in law's recipe as the main course. It's pretty good. Basically, the ham is cut up and then baked in beer, mustard, and brown sugar. Along with that, we had roasted green beans, sweet potato cassarole, stuffing, and pumpkin pie.

Oh, I did. I made a cranberry-orange NY style cheesecake, and a 4-layer red velvet cake. Both were spectacular.
Sounds yummy but not what I meant 😊
