I think that she should be investigate for illegal immigration, and if she is an illegal immigrant, she should be made to go through the immigration process and if she's acceptable she and her child should be able to stay. A judge should then make the mother do community service. If her mother fails the immigration process, deport them both.
They both should be deported if they are here illegally. I think it is absolutely insane to allow children born in the United States illegeally to become citizens, as this isn't fair to parents who, after being deported, would be seperated from their children.
she should be used as an object lesson for all other children of illegal immigrants ... so that they will understand it is not good for their families to be so forthcoming
What can be so hard about the gubberment sitting up regional offices to process illegal aliens? Pay a 200.00 fine for being illegal, register, go 5 years and re-register or study for citizenship. Case closed. Weed out the bad, welcome the good with open arms. That way we will have finger-prints, DNA, information for tax purposes, and everybody's happy.
Why is the bureaucracy so backlogged? Tell that if you owed the IRS money they would make you wait 5 years to get around to collecting it.
It shouldn't take more than a half-hour and a fine to get legal. Unless, of course, the illegal has something to hide.

Humans are not objects, and using this pair as a "lesson" will change nothing. If anything, Hispanics will trust and respect our government that much less. They will continue to live in hiding.

By your logic we shouldn't throw someone into prison for a crime if they have a child. Personally I prefer polls so we can see who voted,seeing how anonymous polls can be cheated.

Jucon I agree humans aren't objects, AND the America's founding fathers give this little girl the right too live here even thought her mother is here illegally. This little girl seem to value being an American is that not what we want in people who come here? Personally, I think she should stay, as I believe that "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside" (14th Amendment). I believe "persons" is a rather liberal term here, as the child is obviously a minor and not accorded the same privileges as an adult. Your interpretation might be different, of course, and that's fine. I also don't have an issue with her mother staying, provided she gets citizenship asap. It should be a simple matter given the popularity of this story, and I imagine she'd jump at the opportunity.
