I have experience with political forums, and as you can tell, I am new to this one. However, I have been on citydata, USMB, and the politics forums.

Which one you you think is the best forum, as in the most unbiased, most discussion friendly, and most civil?

I obviously don't know a lot about this forum so far, but I'll tell you what I think of the others:

USMB: very heavy conservative bias. The moderators will ban liberal posters at the drop of a hat. However, personal insults and rudeness, more from the right than the left, runs rampant

The Politics Forums: completely right wing dominated. Not a lot of good discussion.

City Data: Decent. The least biased one of the three.

This one. I've only been to usmessageboard, though, so I can't really say. It was neat to see a few people that either got banned from here or stopped posting, but the entire place felt like a run-down bar where people are just waiting for a fight. Also, a ridiculous number of clown avatars.

Any message board I post on is by definition the best. I post here.

My guess is there is going to be some serious selection bias in this poll. :)

I am picky about forums to which I belong. First, it has to use vBulletin software. It is just what I am accustomed to. Second, it has to have a very large membership, preferably among the largest of his niche on the internet. Third, it has to be very active, which sort of goes along with the large membership. Fourth, the mods can't be overbearing. Fifth, there needs to be a mix of opinions. I hate echo chambers.

After all my searching this forum won out.

LOL, you make them target rich environments?

this is the most balanced. Another one is Political Hotwire. I quit that because its full of people who need diapers or tampons: whining marxists mainly who swarm anyone who isn't a whining lefty.

Wait, how can political hotwire be both "balanced" and yet so full of so called lefties that it makes you quit? Also, I remember seeing some guy called "Turtledude" on USMB. If that was you, what did you think of USMB?

You would just LOVE RevLeft. :)

This one - though given the description in the OP, I might have to check out the USMB forum. :)

Did you check out any of the ones I listed? If so, what made you not choose them?

you didn't read my post. I said this one is the most balanced. ANOTHER one is PH.

USMB has crappy software. If you quote someone, it quotes the entire thread essentially. The mods don't do much which is fine with me. PF is a clone of this place missing some parts of the house

Did any of the HUGE right wing bias catch your eye while you were there?

Your profile says you are "libertarian-right." Did the huge number of neocons there, and how the moderators obviously favored them ever catch your eye?

No, I didn't spend that much time there. However, I did notice a particularly massive black hole of egotistical douchebaggery that called itself Judicial Review. I'm guessing that's what made you think there was a right bias.

Every group on here tends to think there's at least a slight bias towards their political opposite. Except for the Libertarians, since communists are a very tiny group on here. But that's just what I've observed.

Just a word of advice, if you couldn't handle the heat from that weak excuse for a moderator team, you aren't going to do very well here, regardless of political alignment.

Yes, that ashole. But doesn't it ever seem that liberal members get banned a TON more than their conservative counterparts?

I have never seen any favoritism of right wing posters or "neocons". The mods seem to let just about anything go over there.

Yes, it was a weak excuse for a moderator team. It targeted any left wing posters who hurt their feelings with polite, but reasoned rebukes of right wingers, but they allowed right wingers to make death threats and call people "fags", "retards", etc.

Then you obviously were blind to your own bias. How come left wing posters got banned for calling something "stupid," but right wing posters could make death threats, insult people's families, and post inappropriate pictures, and get absolutely no punishment at all?

Maybe? If so, it's because they are more likely to post pornography, talk trash about people's families, or make multiple accounts. From what I heard, those were about the only ways to get banned.

You sound angry, and should calm down before you say something that can get you in trouble (speaking from a long history of experience). If what you say is true, and not a biased interpretation of stimulus (most things are), then you are right, that's pretty friggin' biased of them. Good reason to leave there and come here.

This one. Debate Politics is not perfect, however it is the only one I have participated in where the mods wear their politics on their shoulders openly and participate in the discussions. It leads to less political bias when handing out warnings and infractions

I'm not lying. once, I called the KKK a "bunch of idiots" and got a 3 day ban for it. Another poster told me he would slit my throat and rape my grandmother, and nothing was done to punish him.
